Product Usage Instructions

  • When to Use NB WebApp
    • New Business (NB) WebApp is used for insurance applications where SimpleProtect may not meet all your unique business needs.
  • Starting a NB WebApp Application
    • Select “App start” from the Online Services menu on RepNet’s home page or choose the “App start” icon from the New Business application for the insurance dashboard.
    • Alternatively, select “New Business application for insurance” from the Online services menu on RepNet’s home page, then choose the “App start” icon.
    • Before using App Start, ensure your advisor code is selected from the New Business application for the insurance dashboard dropdown.
    • Answer questions about the client to be insured and select “Start NB WebApp” if this method best suits your client’s needs.

PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

When to use New Business (NB) WebApp:

  • There are two ways to place your insurance business: SimpleProtect and NB WebApp.
  • SimpleProtect is the preferred method, with less time spent completing the application, however, NB WebApp will support many of your unique insurance business needs. See below for details.
SimpleProtect: NB WebApp:

·         Will meet these insurance needs: term life, participating life, critical illness, term and CI combo application

·         Has fewer underwriting questions and less paperwork than NB WebApp

·         Can provide instant approvals and quicker contract delivery

| ·         Will meet these insurance needs: universal life, disability insurance (and some specific term life, participating life, critical illness, and combo application scenarios not yet available in SimpleProtect)

·         Should be used when your client has non-resident status

·         Has the option of reusing insurability questions or using the tele- interview

Start a NB WebApp Application

Start a NB WebApp application through App Start:

  1. Select App Start from the Online Services menu on RepNet’s home page or select the App Start icon from the New Business application for the insurance dashboard.
  2. Alternately, select New Business application for insurance from the Online Services menu on RepNet’s home page; then select the App Start icon.
    • Note: Before using App Start, ensure your advisor code is selected from the New Business application for the insurance dashboard dropdown.
  3. Within App Start, after answering questions about the client to be insured, you’ll be directed to select Start NB WebApp (if this application method best suits your client’s needs).canada-life-SimpleProtect-NB-Web-App-FIG-1

Process Reminders

NB WebApp process reminders:

  • Preferences – Verify your preferences are properly set up with advisor code(s) and notification settings. To split compensation with other advisors, their advisor code must also be added to your preferences. See the Preferences guide for more details.
  • Delegate access – If you’re selecting a servicing advisor code for which you haven’t been granted ‘full delegate access’, ask the advisor to send a Third-party access form to [email protected]. requesting ‘full delegate access’. Without this, you won’t be able to view the draft or the submitted web application.
  • Non-face-to-face meetings – If you’re not meeting with the client in person to complete the application, have them complete and submit the Authorizations for non-face-to-face applications (form 17-8944) before starting the application as you’ll be completing the insurability section and signing the application electronically on their behalf.
  • Product maximums – Product maximums will be displayed on the screen when exceeded (e.g., DI: $25,000; CI: $3,000,000; Term/Par: $20,000,000; UL: $10,000,000). In this situation, enter the product maximum and continue with the application for the special quote. In the Advisor report section of the application (in the Relevant information box), add a note explaining this is a special quote.
  • Questionnaire – Questionnaire options are based on the type and product that’s selected:
    • Full questionnaire – 50+ questions, including medical questions
    • Short questionnaire – 30+ questions with paramedical/Medical
    • Schedule a telephone interview – 14 questions; experienced interviewer to collect the remaining personal, financial, and medical history information Reuse insurability information from recently completed application/policy number
  • Underwriting – The length of underwriting time could vary depending on how your client answered the health and lifestyle questions. Complex applications may require additional underwriting.
  • Lock feature – Once data is ‘locked’ (within Insurability, Decisions and Authorizations) or the Questionnaire is selected and saved, the data cannot be re-visited. Ensure you review all data before locking content.
  • Banking format – The format to which you enter banking information may vary depending on who your client banks with. For example, Royal Canadian Bank uses Code 003 and bank format ### – ### – #, which differs from other bank account formats. Refer to the Banking information. resource for a full list of banking information and formatting (RepNet login required).
  • Existing applications – Select the Search existing applications icon from the New Business application for the insurance dashboard to review or check the status of submitted or saved applications.
  • Social Insurance Number (SIN) – If the client’s SIN (for Par and UL products or DI when part of a wage loss replacement plan) is not provided with Client details, the data entry process will proceed, however, it’s recommended to include this for optimal processing time.
  • NB WebApp support – Access the WebApp support resource to help you navigate technical issues. The most common questions and issues faced by NB WebApp users and the corresponding solutions are detailed in this guide.
