Product Usage Instructions
Initiate Console
POWER ON THE CONSOLE: Plug in the console and turn on the power switch
located on the lower rear of the unit.
The console will take several minutes to complete self-tests.
SELECT PRE-COOL: Choose whether to start with a pre-cool cycle.
CHOOSE WHETHER NEW PATIENT: Select ‘No’ if continuing a prior treatment.
SELECT TARGET TEMPERATURE: Set the desired target temperature for treatment.
SELECT FEVER MODE: Always use Fever mode when using surface treatment with Thermogard.
Set Up Tubing:
FILL RESERVOIR BAG: Fill the reservoir bag with water and hang it on the console hook.
INSERT COIL: Place the coil in the coolant well after filling it with water.
PLACE AIR TRAP: Temporarily place the air trap in the designated chamber.
LOAD PUMP TUBE: Insert the tubing disc into the pump raceway and connect it firmly.
CONNECT VEST: Ensure both fluid connectors are fully connected to the vest before priming.
PRIME TUBING: Prime the air trap by holding the Prime switch until it is full of water.
INSERT AIR TRAP: Insert the air trap back into its chamber and close the console top cover.
Place Vest
PLACE VEST UNDER PATIENT: Position the vest under the patient without securing the Velcro straps.
CHECK VEST CONNECTIONS: Ensure the vest is fully connected to the tubing with both fluid connectors engaged.
CONNECT PROBE: Connect a core temperature probe to the front of the console.
Start Treatment
PRESS STANDBY/RUN: Press the Standby/Run button on the console to start treatment.
WAIT FOR VEST TO FILL: Wait for the vest to fill with water, typically taking 3-5 minutes.
FAQ
- Q: How long does it take for the console to complete self-tests?
- A: The console will take several minutes to complete self-tests after powering on.
- Q: What should I do if there is air in the vest after filling?
- A: A small amount of air in the vest is acceptable and will dissolve over time during treatment.

Initiate Console

Set Up Tubing
FILL RESERVOIR BAG
A. Fill the reservoir bag with water and fasten the cap. (figure 2.0 A)
B. Hang reservoir bag on console hook. (figure 2.0 B)
- INSERT COIL

* **A**. Open coolant well cap.
- B. Place coil in well. (figure 2.1)
- C. Close the cap, passing tubes through the slit in the cap.
- LOAD PUMP TUBE
- A. Open the roller pump lid.
- B. Fully insert the tubing disc into the slot on the right side of the pump raceway. (figure 2.3 B)
- C. Lift the handle on the pump rollers.
- D. Firmly rotate counter-clockwise while feeding the tube into the raceway.
- E. Fully seat the tube into the raceway. (figure 2.3 E)
- F. Press the handle down onto the rollers until it presses into its detent.
CONNECT VEST
- jA. Fully connect both fluid connectors to the vest. (figure 2.4)
- Caution : The tubing must be fully connected to the vest (inlet and outlet) before it can be primed.
PRIME TUBING

* **A**. Close the roller pump lid.
- B. Remove the air trap from the chamber and hold it upside down. (figure 2.5 B)
- C. Prime the air trap by pressing and holding the Prime switch. (figure 2.5 C)
- D. When the air trap is completely full of water, release the Prime button. It is not necessary to fill the vest until step 4.2.
- INSERT AIR TRAP
- A. Turn the air trap right side up and insert it into the air trap chamber. (figure 2.6)
- B. Close the console top cover while ensuring the tubing is not pinched.
Place Vest
PLACE VEST UNDER PATIENT
Place the vest under the patient. Do not secure the Velcro straps at this
time. (figure 3.0)
Note : The vest may be disconnected from the tubing while positioning it
under the patient.
CHECK VEST CONNECTIONS
Ensure the vest is fully connected to the tubing. Both fluid connectors should click when fully engaged. (figure 3.1)
CONNECT PROBE
Connect a core temperature probe to the front of the console. (figure 3.2)
Start Treatment
PRESS STANDBY/RUN
Press the Standby/Run button on the console to start treatment. (figure 4.0)
Caution : Ensure the vest is open and the Velcro straps are not secured. (figure 3.0)
SET LO ALARM
Press the Menu button on the console, then set the patient Lo alarm to 1 C°
below the target temperature. (figure 4.1)
Warning : In Fever mode, the console will not warm the patient. Setting
the Lo patient temperature alarm ensures that an alarm occurs if the patient’s
temperature drops.
WAIT FOR THE VEST TO FILL
Wait for the vest to fill with water. This typically takes 3-5 minutes. A
small amount of air in the vest is acceptable and will dissolve over time.
SECURE VEST TO PATIENT
Fold the vest flaps over the abdomen and chest. Secure and adjust to fit the patient using the enclosed stretchable Velcro straps. The vest should be snug but not constraining. (figure 4.3)
CONFIRM FLUID FLOW
Confirm that fluid is flowing through the tubing and pad by observing the
rotation of the inline flow indicator (pinwheel).
This may take several minutes. Check for kinks and tap on the flow indicator
as needed. (figure 4.4)
