BCP200 Start Up Building Connect
Quickly connect Mitsubishi Electric VRF, BACnet compatible devices, and Hardwired IO sensors to the Building Connect+ Cloud for Remote Access
Preliminary
- You have a laptop with a modern web browser i.e., Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Safari.
- Central Controller(s), BACnet devices, and EC8IO modules are powered up and connected to the BCP Broker’s Local Area Network or MSTP port for BACnet MSTP devices.
- Central Controllers(s) have IP addresses in accordance with the network schema detail in Appendix A
- BACnet devices have been configured in accordance with the network schema detailed in Appendix B
- Hardware (Main IO) is wired to the BCP Edge534 in accordance with the detail in Appendix C – BCP-50 Only
- The BCP Broker has an active connection to the internet
- The Central Controller(s) is free of error codes
Connecting Your Laptop to the BCP Broker
- Using an ethernet cable, plug your laptop into the BCP Broker Local Area Network. The network is configured to assign your laptop an IP address automatically so make sure your network adaptor is set to DHCP. Note: This is the default configuration for network ports on Windows operating systems.
- Open your favorite internet browser, in the URL bar go to http://bcp50:8080 for a BCP 50 panel or http://bcp200:8080 for a BCP 200 panel.
- Log in with the default credentials. You will be forced to change these upon initial log in.
a. Username: Installer
b. Password: BuildingConnect+
Check Broker Readiness
- Click the ‘Broker Status’ Button
- The dashboard KPIs are:
- a. Broker Status – Internet Connected and Ready to Connect to the BCP Cloud Exchange
- b. Cloud Connection – Indicates whether the BCP Broker has been added to the BCP Cloud Exchange
- c. VRF Gateway – Indicates the status of the BCP Brokers connection to the Central Controller(s)
- d. BACnet – Indicates the status of the BCP Brokers BACnet network and connected devices.
Adding Mitsubishi Electric VRF Equipment to BCP
- On the ‘Setup’ page select the ‘Mitsubishi Electric’ tab.
- If the central controller is connected to the BCP Broker, the ‘Connection Status’ should show ‘Connected’. Do not proceed until the Central Controller status is ‘Connected’.
- Click the ‘Build VRF’ button on each Central Controller that is connected to the BCP broker. When the search is complete the status will show ‘Success! Indoor Units Added’ and the checkmark color will change to green. Note: If the status doesn’t change, try refreshing your browser. If after refreshing your browser your status still doesn’t change, verify your central controller is error free. The BCP broker will not add an indoor unit if it’s in error. If your central controller is error free contact CASupport@hvac.mea.com for support.
- Click the gear icon next to the green checkmark to select the Series and Model of each Outdoor Unit.
- You should be presented with a list of all the Outdoor Units connected to the Central Controller. Note: If no units are shown click the refresh button in the header.
- Click the ‘Select Model’ button for each Outdoor Unit the set the Series and Model number for the Outdoor Unit.
- For Heat Pump Series Outdoor Units, the option to use Auto Changeover is available. To add the option, select the check mark next to the ‘Select Model’ button. When successfully added the checkmark turns green. Note: This only enables the Auto Changeover option. The Auto Changeover operation is turned on from the Cloud interface.
- When you’ve completed setting the Series and Model for each Outdoor Unit, click ‘Done’
- Repeat steps 4-8 for the remaining connected Central Controllers
Adding BACnet Devices to BCP
-
On the ‘Setup’ page click the ‘BACnet’ tab
-
Click the ‘Add Device’ button and select either and MSTP or IP device.
-
Once added, the device’s ‘Connection Status’ should show ‘Connected’. If the
‘Connection Status’ shows anything other than ‘Connected’, do not proceed until all BACnet devices are ‘Connected’. -
Click the ‘Points’ button then click the ‘Discover’ button. BCP will scan the device for all available points and display them in the ‘Discovered from Device’ table
-
Click the Add (+) button to add the point to the BCP broker. Once added, the point will be displayed in ‘Added to Building Connect Plus’ table. Up to 10 points can be added from each device to BCP.
-
To remove a point from BCP. Click the ‘Delete’ button from the point in the ‘Added to Building Connect+’ table.
Adding a Hardwired (Main IO) Device (BCP-50 Only)
- On the ‘Setup’ page, click the ‘Hardwired’ tab
- Click on ‘Add Device’. BCP will incrementally add hardwired devices beginning with Input 1.
- To remove a device, click the ‘Delete Device’ button. Devices will be removed incrementally in the reverse order they were added.
Adding an EC8IO Device
- On the ‘EC8IO’ page, click the ‘Add Module’. Enter the hostname of the EC8IO module. The hostname is the last 6 digits of the devices MAC address. It can be found by scanning the QR code on the EC8IO module with your smartphone.
- The EC8IO default password must be changed before adding it to BCP. Click the ‘Change EC8IO Default Password’ button. A new tab will open and link you to the Eclypse EC8IO log in page. Log in with the default username and password. When prompted, change the password. Record this password. You will use it to connect the module to BCP. Close the Eclypse browser tab.
- Back on the EC8IO page, enter the password you selected in the ‘Password’ field. Click ‘OK’. BCP will scan the network and add the device.
- Repeat steps 1-3 for each EC8IO module you want to add to BCP.
- Add points to the EC8IO module by clicking the Add (+) button on the module. Enter the configuration parameters of your point and click ‘Add’
- Input Name – Provide a friendly name for the point
- Input Select – Select the input port the sensor is connected to
- Units – Select the units you want applied to the sensor, i.e., °F, °C, psi, Off/On.
- Link to Digital Output – Switch that allows you to trigger a digital output when the input exceeds the Control Setpoint.
- Output Name – Provide a friendly name for the digital output point
- Output Select – Select the output port on the controller you want connected to the input sensor.
- Control Setpoint – Setpoint used to trigger the digital output. When the sensor exceeds this value, the digital output will be triggered on.
- Control Deadband – Neutral zone around the Control Setpoint. The digital output will not be triggered until the sensor value exceeds the Control Setpoint+/- the Control Deadband.
- Control Direction – Defines whether the output should be triggered on when the sensor value is greater than (Direct) or less than (Reverse) the Control Setpoint.
- Repeat step 5 for all points wired to the EC8IO module.
- To remove a point from the module, click the ‘Delete’ button on the point.
- To remove an EC8IO module, first delete all points from the module, select the module and click the ‘Delete’ button adjacent to the ‘Add Module’ button.
