PLATEHOLDER License Plate Holder Frameless
Product Specifications
- Product Name: Magnet Edition License Plate Holder
- Manufacturer: PlateHolder
- Material: Magnets
- Color: Black
Product Usage Instructions
Preparation and Cleaning:
To ensure optimum adhesion, surfaces must be dry and free from contaminants such as dust, oil, oxides, release agents, or other soiling. Use a cleaning agent without silicone or fragrance additives. Follow these steps:
- Clean the body and the back of the license plate with the supplied microfiber cloth and cleaning agent.
- For further cleaning, use the alcohol cloth and ensure everything dries well.
Mounting the Magnets [A]-Part:
Before mounting, check if your body is magnetic, especially in the rear area. Follow these steps:
- Remove protective film from side [A] of the bracket.
- Mount the bracket to the body, ensuring a strong press onto the surface for at least 10 seconds.
Preparation of the License Plate:
Clean the surfaces of the license plate using alcohol pads. Follow these steps:
- If magnets [B] lack contact surface, use filler material provided.
- Ensure dry, dust-free, and oil-free surfaces for adhesive bonding.
FAQ
Q: How long does it take for the adhesive bond to reach full strength?
A: Achieving full bond strength can take up to 3 days and is highly temperature dependent.
Q: Is additional fastening with screws necessary?
A: Additional fastening with screws is optional and not mandatory. Ensure compatibility of existing holes if screws are used.
MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
TEMPERATURE
Our magnetic license plate holders can be mounted from a temperature of +10°
Celsius. However, the optimal conditions for mounting occur at an outside
temperature between +15°C and +25°C.
SURFACE CLEANING
To ensure optimum adhesion, surfaces must be dry and free from contaminants
such as dust, oil, oxides, release agents or other soiling. Please use a
cleaning agent that does not contain silicone or fragrance additives.
ADHESIVE PRESSURE
The effectiveness of the adhesive bond is directly related to the degree of
contact that the adhesive has with the surfaces being bonded. A strong and
uniform contact pressure ensures optimum contact between the surfaces and thus
improves the bonding strength.
FULL ADHESIVE STRENGTH
Achieving full bond strength can take up to 3 days and is highly temperature
dependent.
Preparation and cleaning
After you have removed your old license plate holder, you must thoroughly clean the body and the back of the license plate. Use the supplied microfiber cloth and a cleaning agent. For further cleaning, please use the alcohol cloth and let everything dry well afterwards.
Important: In order for the adhesive bond to hold optimally, the surfaces must be completely dry, dust-free and free of oil, oxides, release agents or other contaminants before bonding. Please use a technical cleaning agent that does not contain silicones or fragrances.
Mounting the magnets [A] -Part
Caution: Please first check whether your body is magnetic, which usually only applies to the rear area. If the body is magnetic, please note that the magnets have a strong attracting effect and may stick uncontrollably!
Note: The additional fastening with screws is optional and not mandatory.
Remove any material standing around the hole to ensure that the holder can
rest on a flat surface.
Now remove the protective film from side [A] of the bracket and mount the
bracket to the body. If you decide to use the screws, make sure that the
existing holes in the body and in the magnet [Al match. Press the magnets
firmly onto the body and hold this position for at least 10 seconds.
Preparation of the license plate
- Use our alcohol pads to thoroughly clean the surfaces of the license plate. Let the alcohol evaporate completely afterwards!
- If the magnets [B] do not have enough contact surface on the license plate, you can glue the supplied filler material into the recesses of the license plate.
Attention: In order to make an adhesive bond, the surfaces must be dry, dust-free and free of oil, oxides, release agents or other contaminants. Please use a cleaning agent that does not contain silicones or fragrances.
Mounting the magnets [B]-Part
Join the magnetic holders [Al and [B]. Attention: Please be aware that the license plate cannot be corrected after this assembly! Now remove the 3M protective foil from side [B] and press the license plate firmly on for at least 10 seconds. Then leave the license plate alone for 2 hours so that the adhesive bond can cure properly. Only after this resting time you can remove the license plate for the first time (see step 5).
Correct removal of the license plate
Do not pull the license plate off the body frontally, but lift it off from above. Avoid heavy loads in the first days after mounting, because the 3M adhesive needs about 3 days to develop its full adhesive strength. If you want to remove our magnets, use a heat gun and carefully lift off the license plate. Attention: Re-application is only possible with new adhesive tape. We recommend removing the license plate before driving through the car wash. This depends on the condition of your bumper and takes into account that some car washes have harder bristles that could possibly pry the license plate off.

Safety instructions for handling neodymium magnets
-
Risk of crushing and injury: The strong attractive force of neodymium magnets can cause crushing and injury. Therefore, always be careful when handling them.
-
Not suitable for children: Neodymium magnets are not safe for children. They could be swallowed by children, posing a serious health risk.
-
Brittleness: Neodymium magnets are brittle and can shatter if they collide violently. Always be careful when handling magnets.
-
Interference with medical and electrical equipment:
The magnetic fields of neodymium magnets can impair or even disable the function of medical and electrical equipment, such as pacemakers or defibrillators. -
Temperature limit: The ambient temperature of the magnets should not exceed 80 °C. At higher temperatures, the magnets lose their magnetic force.
-
Not machinable: Neodymium magnets cannot be machined or modified.
