SAVANNA 4 DELUXE SHELTER
Model No. KC074-201

PITCHING INSTRUCTIONS

YOUR SHELTER INCLUDES:

  • 38x pegs
  • 20 x ropes (including 16 webbing guy straps)
  • 8 x PRE-CURVED passivate steel poles (22mm)
  • 4 x STRAIGHT passivate steel poles (22mm)
  • 4 x STEEL ‘t’ shaped joiners (22mm)
  • 1 x STEEL quad knuckle (22mm)
  • 2 x solid side walls

INSTALLATION

  1. Select a dry, level site and clear the ground of any sharp objects. Remove the shelter from its carry bag, untie fabric ties and unroll the shelter. Spread the cover out in the desired location with the roof on top.

  2. Carefully take the poles from the carry bag and assemble them into their groups (list above). The STEEL quad knuckle is attached to the shelter.

  3. Slide the four STRAIGHT steel poles through Slide the four STRAIGHT steel poles through the pole sleeves in the roof from the outside to insert them into the STEEL quad knuckle in the center of the roof. There is a small spring on the pole that locks into the slot under the knuckle. When all four poles are assembled and inserted, the center of the shelter will be raised off the ground slightly. Attach the ‘I’ shaped joiners, one to each pole.

  4. Unroll the webbing strap from the corners and connect to the side release buckles on the corresponding corner. This stops the corners from ‘splaying’ out when the poles are inserted. Peg out the four corners checking the shelter is squareKIWI-camping-KC074-201-Savanna-4-Deluxe-Shelter-FIG- \(3\)

  5. If you are wanting to attach the side walls, it is a good idea to attach them now. Take the weight off the zips when attaching the wall; by holding the sidewall up as you zip.

  6. This will take two people to assemble. Ensure the PRE-CURVED pole sections are going in the right direction to create half an arch each. Take one of the steel PRE-CURVED poles and attach to the side of a ‘t’ shaped joiner.
Have one person support the pole, while the other person attaches the other end to the pin and ring fitting on the base corner of the shelter. Attach the speed-clips to the poles to secure them.

  7. Repeat until all PRE-CURVED poles are attached.

  8. Step back and check the shelter is square and sitting correctly. Peg out the remaining pegging points on the four corners, followed by the walls.

  9. Fitting the guy ropes. The PRE-CURVED steel poles are attached by two-speed clips close together (these have orange webbing). Attach the webbing guy straps around the PRE-CURVED steel pole between these two-speed clips. Attach a guy clip to the two D’s and peg out the rope. The speed-clips stop the straps from sliding up or down. Repeat on all sides making sure the tension is even and the shelter is not pulled out of shape.

  10. Remember this is a temporary shelter, not a structure, so always check ii in windy conditions and do not leave it unattended.KIWI-camping-KC074-201-Savanna-4-Deluxe-Shelter-FIG- \(5\)

SHELTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS

PLEASE READ ALL OF THE SHELTER CARE INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED WITH THIS SHELTER BEFORE USING YOUR SHELTER FOR THE FIRST TIME.

  1. Before you use your new shelter, fully unpack and pitch it at home. It is important to familiarise yourself with the setup procedure and the various features.

  2. Select a site that is level, clear of any sharp objects is dry, will drain well if it rains, and is protected from wind and other elements.

  3. Keep clear of overhead power lines and trees when setting up your shelter.

  4. For the best and easiest results, enlist the help of at least one other person to assist in pitching the shelter.

  5. Keep all flame and heat sources away from the fabric. Do not use open flame or gas appliances in or near your shelter.

  6. Do not use aerosol sprays or any solvent-based products in or around your shelter as these could damage the fabric or special coatings. These products include but are not limited to repellent spray, hair sprays, alcohol, detergents, fly spray, petrol, kerosene, etc.

  7. Please note, that the warranty on this shelter will be deemed void if the product is used for any purpose other than a temporary, recreational use shelter.

  8. Handle the shelter poles carefully. When unfolding and folding the shelter poles, do not allow the shock cord to pull and snap the ends together.

  9. This can damage the pole’s ends and result in breakage when the pole is tensioned.
Especially in windy conditions, you must attach guy ropes and fasten them to the ground. We suggest you insert the pegs into the ground at a 45° angle toward the shelter, not straight down. Please note, that your shelter will not be covered under warranty if wind damage occurs.

  10. Use all of the guy ropes and pegs included to ensure your shelter is secure and to prevent damage to both yourself and the shelter. Check guy ropes/ pegs daily.

  11. When adding accessories, hold both sides of the zip to take pressure off the zips. Ensure that the fabric is never overstretched as this may cause problems with walls and accessories.

  12. To clean your shelter, only ever use a soft sponge and warm water. DO NOT use excess force or other harsh cleaners to remove marks from the shelter.

  13. Ensure the shelter is completely dry and clean before storing it away and ensure to store it in a dry environment.

IMPORTANT

  1. Under certain conditions (cold weather, high humidity, etc.) condensation may form on the inside of your shelter. Condensation can occur for many reasons including vapour from your breath, perspiration, cooking nearby or wet clothing inside your shelter. This does NOT mean your shelter is leaking through the fabric. You can minimize condensation by opening and airing out your shelter during the day and by removing any wet clothing/towels etc.
  2. Try to avoid pitching your shelter under trees as tree limbs, falling leaves, sap, bird droppings or excess water dripping from the trees can cause damage to the shelter fabric and its special coatings resulting in leakage or discoloration.
  3. Only remove the pegs by pulling on the peg itself. NEVER pull on the shelter or the webbing loops to remove pegs as it could result in damage to the shelter or personal injury.
  4. DO NOT leave shelter pitched for weeks at a time as extended exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays can damage and/or cause it to discolor. Your shelter will not be covered under warranty if you leave it up for many weeks at a time.

STORAGE

  1. NEVER store your shelter wet or dirty (even for short periods).
  2. NEVER store your pegs or poles inside your shelter. Always use the separate bags they are supplied in.
  3. You may want to insure your shelter against loss or damage.
