OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

INTRODUCTION

Congratulations on your purchase of the lithium pack insole rcB 1200 battery packs.
Please carefully read the operating instructions before using the product.

The lithium pack insole rcB 1200 battery packs supply energy for all heated Lenz insoles.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

General safety precautions:

  • Keep these important instructions for future reference

  • This device can be used by children 8 years of age and older as well as by individuals with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or lack of experience and know-how, if they are supervised or have been instructed in the safe handling of the device and understand the resulting dangers. Children may not use this device as a toy. Children may not perform cleaning or maintenance work, unless they are supervised.

  • Check the device regularly for signs of wear or damage. If you notice any of these signs, if the device was used improperly or if the device does not work, bring it back to the dealer before using it again.

  • Not suitable for children under the age of 36 months. (a)

  • Children may only use the product under the supervision of an adult.

  • Children should be supervised to make sure that they are not using the device as a toy.

  • If you have problems sensing hot or cold objects (e.g. diabetics, persons with special needs, etc.), please consult your doctor before using the device.

  • Check your feet regularly for redness of the skin. Excessive heat levels over prolonged periods of time can lead to burns.
    Children may use the unit only under the supervision of adults.

  • Do not use the product for warming animals.

  • The sole may only be used with suitable Lenz lithium packs.

  • The battery packs are compatible with all Lenz soles and systems, but not with all other Lenz chargers.

  • Please read the operating instructions carefully. (b)

  • The battery packs are splash-proof. If the battery packs are fastened to your shoes, the packs should always be connected to the heated soles when outdoors (even if not switched on).
    This will prevent moisture and dirt from entering the connecting socket or plug. Otherwise drain the water and allow the battery packs to dry out.

  • IMPORTANT: For recharging, only use the included ”8.4V Global Charger“. It is designed for inside rooms and must not be exposed to damp.

  • Do not insert any metal or other objects into connecting sockets or plugs as this could cause damage to the unit.

  • As the contact pins on the battery packs are also conductive even when disconnected, you must not store the battery pack together with metallic objects (such as paper clips, aluminium foil, etc.).

  • Never try to open the battery packs! Improper handling of the lithium-ion batteries can lead to an explosion!

  • Damaged batteries must no longer be used and must be disposed of immediately.

  • If you notice any damage to charging cables or other parts of the unit, do not use it. Do not make any modifications to the unit or use it for any unintended purposes.

  • Always have any repairs to the battery packs carried out by the manufacturer only.

  • Damaged chargers or charging cables cannot be repaired. Dispose of the charger in accordance with local regulations at a collection site for electrical waste.

  • If questions or problems arise, please get in touch with your dealer or the manufacturer (see rear of envelope for address).

  • Do not throw battery packs into an open fire, as there is a risk of explosion.

  • The device is not intended for use in hospitals.

  • Avoid kinking the product by placing other objects on top of it during the storage.

  • The heat should be switched off when entering an environment with a considerably higher temperature.

  • Never use the heated sole in combination with any other heated product (heated boot, etc.); there is a risk of excessive heat.

FIRST USE AND CHARGING

Important note:
The battery packs must be charged before using them for the first time.

Charging process (world charger)

  1. Plug the charger into a socket. The charge indicator (Fig. 2.2) will light up green. Next, plug both battery packs into the charger. The battery packs can be charged in any operating mode.
  2. The charging process begins automatically. The charge indicator (Fig. 2.2) will light up red during the charging process.
  3. Once the batteries are fully charged, the charging process is automatically concluded and the LED on the charge indicator (Fig. 2.2) will switch back to green.
  4. The charging status can be optionally monitored with the Lenz Heat App* convenient control app.
  5. Disconnect both battery packs from the charger.
  6. After the charger has been charged and unplugged from the battery packs, they are automatically in the mode which was configured before the charging process was begun. If the battery pack is not used for any further operations, it will turn off automatically after 12 hours.

Important note:

  • The percentage indicator in the Lenz Heat App* may show slightly different charging statuses during charging mode, as battery packs are subject to production tolerances by nature. These minimal differences will have no impact on the product’s heating output or heating duration.
  • Recharge the battery packs after each use. This extends the service life of the batteries and ensures that the device is always ready for use.
  • The battery consists of lithium ion cells and can be charged in any state. For this reason, the battery does not need to be fully discharged before charging.
  • The battery pack can be in any operating mode when the charging process is started. (POWER OFF, STANDBY, IN USE)
  • The full charging capacity of the battery packs can only be conserved if the battery packs are disconnected from the charger at the end of the charging process.

SAFETY FUNCTIONS

  • Short circuit protection: In the event of a short circuit at the contact or the heating element, the product’s integrated electronics system automatically turns off. The product is ready for use again after removing the short circuit and brief connection with the charging plug.
  • Protection against overcharging and exhaustive discharge: The product is protected against overcharging and exhaustive discharge with the integrated electronics system.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

  • When using the cable of the Lenz insole (Lenz Heat Sole), plug it firmly into the battery pack until it firmly locks into place.
  • Never use the heated insole together with the heated sock as this may cause excessive heat!
  • The optimal heating power is reached when the boots or soles are dry.

  • Do not use the highest heat setting for longer than a few minutes; continuous operation may result in excessive heat!
  • Always set battery packs to low or moderate heat levels to maintain comfortable foot warming (heating should be almost undetectable).

FUNCTION DESCRIPTION

The battery packs have three operating modes: POWER OFF – STANDBY – IN USE. They are indicated by the heat setting display on the battery pack. The number of illuminated LEDs corresponds to the selected heat setting.
POWER-OFF:

  • The battery pack is completely turned off and the heat setting display (Fig. 1.2) is permanently off.
  • They can only be switched on with the control button (Fig. 1.3) of the battery packs.

Note:
The battery packs cannot be switched manually to POWER OFF mode.
If a sole is not connected to the battery packs and the battery packs are in STANDBY mode, the battery packs will automatically switch to POWER OFF mode after 12 hours!
STANDBY:

  • The heat setting display (Fig. 1.2) briefly flashes at an interval of 2.5 seconds.
  • The battery packs are in stand-by and can be activated with the control button of the battery packs (Fig. 1.3), via the Lenz HeatApp (Smartphone) or via the remote control (available as an accessory).

IN USE:

  • The battery pack supplies the connected Lenz insole with energy and the LED of the heat setting display or the operating mode display (Fig. 1.2) is illuminated.

USE AND FUNCTION

Turning on/off:
Briefly (approx. 1 sec.) press the control button (Fig. 1.3) to turn on the battery packs at the lowest heat level.
Changing the heat setting:

  • Use the control button (Fig. 1.3) to set 3 different heat settings.
  • Every time you push the control button (Fig. 1.3), the heat level rises.
  • The respective heat setting is indicated by the flashing of the heat setting display (Fig. 1.2) on the battery packs.

If there is no sole or charger connected to the battery packs, the battery packs will automatically switch to POWER OFF mode after 12 hours!
(If you are using the Lenz Heat App* to control your battery packs remotely, the app must also be closed on your smartphone in order for the battery packs to be able to successfully switch to POWER OFF mode.)

REMOTE CONTROL

The lithium pack insole rcB1200 battery packs can be controlled via Smartphone Lenz HeatApp* or via RemoteControl. The batteries must be in “Pairing Mode“ to be able to couple them properly with the Smartphone or the RemoteControl.
Pairing Mode
Please switch the desired batteries to ”Pairing Mode“. For this purpose, push the control button (Fig. 1.3.) for approx. 10 seconds until the heat setting displays (Fig. 1.2.) are blinking and then immediately release the control button. The heat setting display in the middle is flashing constantly.

Note: The Pairing Mode remains active for 2 minutes! If no pairing takes place during this time, this mode will end automatically!
*The optional Lenz HeatApp (paid app) and Lenz HeatApp Basic (free app) convenient control apps are available via the Android Play Store and the Apple Store.
Requirements for using the Lenz HeatApp / Lenz HeatApp Basic: Bluetooth SMART Ready, Android Version 4.3 or higher or iOS Version 7.0 or higher

HEAT SETTING – HEATING PERIOD

The heating period for the heating power level is indicated in the following table for your information.

The heating period per charge depends on the selected heat setting, the ambient temperature and the charging status as well as the age of the batteries.

SERVICE, STORAGE AND CARE

To ensure a long life, we recommend storing the battery packs in a cool room (at temperatures ranging from 5°C / 41°F to 20°C / 68°F) in a semi-charged status. The battery packs must be turned off (heat setting display (Fig. 1.2) dark) and disconnected from the heated sole and charger for storage.
For long-term storage, we recommend discharging and recharging the battery packs halfway at least every 6 months. This ensures that the maximum battery power is preserved for many years!
Clean the parts as needed with a soft, slightly damp cloth and a mild detergent.
Caution:
Always remove the charger from the outlet before cleaning it.

DISPOSAL

  • Once the product has served its purpose, please dispose of it and its packaging appropriately and in an environmentally friendly manner.
  • Please do not dispose of the charger together with the household waste. Instead, bring the parts to a collection site for electronic waste. (c)
  • Bring the battery packs to the intended collection sites for used batteries. (d)
  • Packaging materials are raw materials and can be recycled. For this reason, please recycle the packaging.
  • Please contact your local authority for more information.

ACCESSORIES AND SPARE PARTS

When subsequently purchasing accessories or spare parts, please make sure to provide the exact model designation. Ideally, take the part to be replaced with you to your dealer.

MANUFACTURER’S LIMITED WARRANTY

The product carries a limited warranty for one (1) years from the date of purchase. This limited warranty extends only to the original consumer who purchased the new product from an authorized dealer.
For heated textiles, the warranty period is 6 months from the date of purchase in addition to the legally required warranty, as heated textiles are considered normal wear parts.
Within this warranty period, we will, at our discretion, repair or replace devices with defects in materials or workmanship free of charge. This warranty does not cover any of the following: Damage that can be traced back to improper use; normal wear and tear; defects that affect the value or serviceability of the device to a negligible extent only; and claims based on minor differences in charging status (percent indicator) for multiple batteries in the LenzHeatApp during charging or heating mode, as batteries and heating elements are subject to production tolerances by nature.
These minimal differences will have no perceptible impact on the product’s heating output or heating duration.
