periods of time.
14. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required
when the device has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug
is damaged, liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen into the device,
the device has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or
has been dropped.
15. This product is equipped with a three-wire grounding-type plug, a plug
having a third (grounding) pin. This plug will only fit into a grounding-type
power outlet. This is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug
into the outlet, contact your electrician to replace your obsolete outlet. Do
not defeat the safety purpose of the grounding-type plug.
16. WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, this device
should not be exposed to dripping, splashing, rain, or moisture, and objects
filled with liquids, such as a vase, should not be placed on this device.

Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the AtlasIED AP-S15LA AC Power Conditioner & Distribution Unit. The AP-S15LA has been designed to meet most installation requirements for AC power distribution and equipment power protection.
The AP-S15LA features noise filtering for unwanted Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) that is commonly introduced into AC lines by nearby radio transmitters or wireless products. EMI filters are incorporated to reduce noise from Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) from such items as electric motors and switching power supplies. The benefit of these filters can be seen on video products or audibly by reducing static pops and external signal interference.
The AP-S15LA is unique in that the integrator can select the power cord length that is required for the installation. A removable 12′ IEC power cord with a retainer bracket is supplied with the unit. A shorter or longer cord can be purchased separately if needed.
Unstable AC Mains voltage is one of the main reasons for equipment failure. The amount of energy that can be injected into the power system can be immense with voltages reaching 6kV or amperage peaks of 3000A. These spikes are very fast and usually only last for a very short period of time. The AP-S15LA’s circuitry is very fast and can suppress unwanted energy within a nanosecond response and sustain the suppression up to 2 milliseconds, thus ensuring virtually trouble free protection. The front panel also features AC fault and ground status indicators providing quick, visual reassurance the equipment is safe.
The AP-S15LA offers power management control, noise filtering, and spike / surge protection, making it the most compact, effective power management protection system on the market today.

Applications
The AP-S15LA was designed to be flexible with features that allow it to be used in a variety of applications. The AP-S15LA can be used solely for protection against voltage surges or for AC distribution. If fuzzy video or frequent static pops occur, the AC power conditioning may eliminate or reduce those inconveniences. The following are just a few examples of applications where the AP-S15LA can be used:
- Restaurants
- Houses of Worship
- Schools
- Home Theaters
- Office Buildings
- Sports Bars
Front Panel
1. Unswitched AC Outlet
The 120VAC outlet is always live when the AP-S15LA power cord is plugged into
an AC mains power source. Note: The AC mains power switch does not affect
the Unswitched AC Outlet but it is protected with surge protection circuitry.
2. Power Switch & Cover
To turn the AP-S15LA On or Off, press the switch to the On (up) or Off (down)
position. When the Power Switch is in the On (up) position and the power cord
is plugged into 115V – 120V and voltage is present, the Blue Power LED will
illuminate. When the Power Switch is in the Off (down) position the Blue Power
LED will not be illuminated. Note: The Protect and Ground LEDs will be
illuminated when the Power Switch is in the Off (down) position when operating
correctly. The AP-S15LA incorporates a power switch cover to prevent
accidental pressing of the power switch.
3. Switched Outlets Active Indicator
This LED will illuminate Blue when the power switch is in the On position.
4. Surge Protect Indicator
The Surge Protect LED is illuminated Red under normal operating conditions
showing that the surge protection circuit is functioning correctly and the
connected equipment is protected from voltage transients. Note: The Surge
protection LED will be illuminated regardless of the Power Switch being in the
On or Off position. Although the clamping suppression circuit virtually
assures protection from most transient voltage spikes and surges, nature has a
way of occasionally creating electrical forces that are beyond the
capabilities of any device to absorb without some degree of damage. In the
rare instance that this occurs and the circuit has been damaged, the Red
“Surge Protect” LED indicator will turn Off. If the Surge Protection LED
in off, all AC outlets will remain functional but the device will have no
surge protection. It is recommended to stop using the unit or future damage
may occur to the devices connected to this unit. Be advised that activation of
this fault condition and the associated repair is not covered under warranty.
Note: If the Surge Protect LED is not illuminated while the unit is
powered on, it is important to have all equipment that was connected to that
AC Mains Line inspected for proper operation.
5. Ground Status Indicator
This LED will illuminate Green regardless of the Power Switch being in the On
or Off position and when the AP-S15LA has Earth ground connection on the Earth
ground pin of the AC Mains power cord. If the Ground Status LED in off, all AC
outlets will remain functional but the device will have no Earth ground. It is
recommended to stop using the unit or future damage may occur to the devices
connected to the unit. Note: If there is no Earth ground connection the
LED will not illuminate and the AC wall outlet must be repaired by a qualified
electrician before continuing.
6. Pull Out Lamp
Pull the lamp out to illuminate equipment mounted below the AP-S15LA. The
brightness of the lamp can be adjusted with the dimmer switch to the left of
the lamp.
7. Pull Out Lamp Dimmer
Adjust the intensity of the pull out lamp by turning the dimmer switch.
Rear Panel
1. AC Mains Input
Connect the IEC 14 Gauge 12′ (4m) power cord to a 15A 120VAC outlet to provide
power to the AP-S15LA.
2. AC Mains Input IEC Power Cord Retainer
The AP-S15LA incorporates an IEC power cord retainer bracket to prevent the
cord from coming loose. See IEC power cord retainer bracket installation.
3. AC Mains Power Breaker
The 15A rated breaker will open if the combined draw of all AC outlets exceeds
15A. Note: The breaker is designed to exceed its rating for a short period
of time. If the breaker is tripped, the load must first be removed from the
AP-S15LA before pushing to reset.
4. Unswitched AC Outlet
The 120VAC outlet is always live when the AP-S15LA power cord is plugged into
an AC mains power source. Note: The AC mains power switch does not affect
the Unswitched AC Outlet but it is protected with surge protection circuitry.
5. Switched AC Outlets
The seven 120VAC outlets are always live when the AP-S15LA front panel power
switch is in the On position.
Installation
Before installing, read the entire manual to ensure proper understanding of operation and that all features are being utilized. The AP-S15LA can be placed on a shelf or rack mounted in a standard 19″ width rack. When rack mounted, placement within the rack is flexible, however the AP-S15LA should be within 6′ of a dedicated 15A AC outlet. When rack mounting, use rack rail type screws of 10/32″ x 1″. Always make sure the 15A outlet is properly inspected by a certified electrician prior to connecting the AP-S15LA. Make sure to inspect the equipment that will be connected to the AP-S15LA to ensure it does not exceed 15A total amperage draw.
AC Power Cord Retainer System
Connect the IEC 14 Gauge 12′ (4m) power cord to a 15A 120VAC outlet to provide
power to the AP-S15LA by aligning the pins of the cord to the pins on the
chassis and inserting the cord. Press firmly to assure a good connection.
The AP-S15LA incorporates an IEC Power Cord retainer bracket to prevent the
cord from coming loose. To install the IEC power cord retainer bracket, remove
the two screws from the chassis of the AP-S15LA, place the retainer bracket
over the cord and insert the two screws through the bracket into the chassis
as illustrated below.
