Press and hold the SCAN button for one second, then release.
The unit will perform a self-test and beep.
Gently insert the probe snugly into the ear until a slight resistance is felt.
Press the SCAN button and promptly release.
FeverVueTM Technology will change the display to the appropriate color for the temperature measurement. If Green there is no fever, Orange means a slight fever and Red indicates a high fever.
If the reading is below 100.4°F (38.0°C), a beep will sound. The measurement and a happy face will be displayed.
If the reading is 100.4°F (38.0°C) or above, a long beep will sound followed by two short beeps. The measurement and a sad face will be displayed.
The thermometer will automatically beep and shut off after approximately one minute of non-use.
Clean the lens with an alcohol swab or soft cotton swab moistened with alcohol.

To ensure accuracy, please wait at least 5 seconds between successive readings.

Ear measurements are comparable to oral measurements.
Never leave a child or infant unattended with a thermometer.
It is possible for the elderly, infants under 3 months of age, and those with compromised immune systems or other medical conditions not to have an elevated temperature even when they are ill. Consult with your healthcare professional in instances where an illness is detected without a fever present.
Special situations such as ear canal drainage, infection, or other conditions such as prior ear surgery (tubes), may preclude the use of ear thermometers in one or both ears or may affect the accuracy of the reading.
