LIVING WAT ER FOR A VIBRANT, HEALTHY LIFE!

  • The word „Maunawai“ comes from Hawaiian and literally means „mountain water“. Because that is exactly the task of the MAUNAWAI filter system: it turns your tap water into „pristine“ mountain spring water.
  • This technology was developed 60 years ago in Japan to obtain the best drinking water from tap water. The models for this were the great healing springs and life itself. By applying the five principles – filtration, information, optimization, harmonization and biological availability – the water is not only purified from unwanted substances but also restructured and thus regains its original cluster form.
  • After its long journey through the municipal water pipes, the water can now slowly seep through the multi-layered system of the MAUNAWAI ® filter – without pressure and without electricity, modeled on nature!
  • The most important MAUNAWAI® filter stages:
  • The ceramic filter is the pre-stage filter for coarse residues from the water pipe. It filters out dust, rust, suspended matter, color, and odor. Due to the pore size of only 0.1 μm, no bacteria can pass through.
  • The quality and performance of an activated carbon is determined by the binding capacity of the filter material and the flow rate. In contrast to conventional activated carbon blocks, the flow rate of MAUNAWAI® filters is significantly reduced. This supports the increased binding capacity of the granulate used. The high-tech activated carbon made from coconut shells removes pollutants such as chlorine, pesticides, heavy metals and many other contaminants. In the borderline area of substances that are difficult to bind, such as copper, zinc and antibiotics, MAUNAWAI® filters prove to be advantageous.
  • In the heart of the MAUNAWAI® filter, more than  20 different ceramics work in precise coordination and dosage. In a special and complex process, a porous, yet mechanically stable ceramic matrix is produced. Here, old clay is burned in at temperatures of around 1,000 degrees Celsius with natural properties and information that triggers an ion exchange and long-wave infrared radiation in the water. In this way, unsuitable(unnatural) information is eradicated and the molecular structure (cluster) of the water is restored to its „original state“.
  • This natural filtration and percolation process (without line pressure) produces the extremely tasty, soft, and digestible MAUNAWAI® „ spring water “.

SCOPE OF DELIVERY

MAUNAWAI-PIPRIME-K2-Water-Filter-FIG2

  • Before assembling your MAUNAWAI® Quelle, please check with the help of the illustration on the right whether all components are present.
  • Before assembly, be sure to observe the following steps for  preparation
  • Remove all packaging from the system and the individual filters.
  • The three filter modules need a soaking phase and all other components of the water filter system should be cleaned.

SOAKING

  1. Place all filter modules
    • Ceramic filter,
    • PIPRIME filter cartridge, overnight and completely covered in tap water. Never use detergent for the filter modules! Hold the ceramic filter under water until the air has completely escaped. Make sure that the filter screw points upwards. The air can escape through the opening at the bottom.
  2. Put Tab Oxosanum in a glass with 200 ml water and let it stand for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the solution to the liquid in which you are soaking your PIPRIME filters.
  4. The ceramic beads in the PIPRIME filter cartridge have a lot of air. Therefore, soak well and shake vigorously several times to loosen any remaining air pockets.
    • CLEANING
  5. Clean all other parts of the system except the filters with a bio-detergent and rinse thoroughly with clean water.
  6. Do not use hot water, do not put any parts in the dishwasher! Only use soft cleaning cloths to avoid scratches!
  7. Brush the zeolite under running water. We recommend disinfecting them afterward with 70% alcohol and rinsing them again with cold water.

ASSEMBLY

MAUNAWAI-PIPRIME-K2-Water-Filter-FIG5....

  1. Place the drinking water container on the base.

  2. Mount the water tap. The two sealing rings are each attached to the inside and outside of the drinking water container. The container should be dry in the
area of the silicone seal to avoid leaks later on!

  3. Press the filter into the holder from above.

  4. Place 1–3 pieces of the preparedzeolithes at the bottom of the drinking water container.
Then hang the filter unit with the PIPRIME filter cartridge in the glass drinking water container.

  5. Then insert the ceramic filter in the upper tank into the opening provided.

  6. Slide the sealing ring on the underside of the tank onto the filterscrew. Then screw the filter tight with the wing nut.

  7. Place the upper tank on the drinking water tank. The lid closes the upper tank.

  8. Now fill tap water into the upper tank and let it run through.

Now your MAUNAWAI® water system is ready for use!

CARE

  • Do not expose the MAUNAWAI® Quelle to direct sunlight. The darker the location, the more advantageous is.
  • Filter at least 1-4 litres per day.
  • Wash out the upper tank as needed to keep it clean and free of residues. For the glass tank, we recommend an eco-cleaner followed by an application of the Oxosanum Tabs.
  • For cleaning the containers, itis best to use the inner side of an organic lemon peel (except for the filter modules).
  • If the white ceramic filter becomes discolored or does not allow enough water to pass through, it can be washed with water and rubbed with a clean sponge to remove any deposits. When rubbing, be sure to apply even, light pressure to avoid excessive abrasion ofthe ceramic.
  • No special care is required for the PIPRIME filter cartridge, only replacement.  Just as with the first use, water it and place it in the designated place in the cartridge hanger.

ABSENCE

  • Short absences: if you are unable to use the system for 2-3 days, make sure you use it more in the following days. If the water tastes unfamiliar, empty it and refill the system.
  • In case of an absence of up to 3 weeks, let some drinking water into the lower container so that the PIPRIME CARTRIDGE is partially submerged, and cover the whole system with a cloth. If the water tastes unfamiliar, change the PIPRIME® filter cartridge.
  • In case of longer absences of more than 3 weeks, we recommend not using the PIPRIME filter cartridge, but replacing it.

FILTER CHANGE

  • We recommend replacing the ceramic filter after one year. At the latest,  however, when more and more water remains in the upper tank despite cleaning.
  • Or even if the wall of the ceramic filter has holes, through which the water can run unfiltered.
  • If you are filtering water that is poorer than average, the filter capacity may be significantly lower due to frequent removal of sediments.
  • The PIPRIME filter cartridge K2 should be replaced after 8–10 months or after 3000 liters of water have been filtered.
  • We recommend changing the zeolites after 6 months.
  • The more polluted the water, the shorter the period of use.
  • In the case of water with above-average contamination and simultaneous intensive use, please change the filters at shorter intervals.

The average service life of the filter modules: PIPRIME
filter cartridge K2: 8–10 months
Ceramic filter: approx. 1 year
Zeolite: 6 months

DISPOSAL

  • You can return the contents of the PIPRIME cartridge to nature by placing it in a cloth bag and smashing it with a hammer.
  • Put all plastic parts in the plastic waste.
  • Dispose of ceramic filters and limescale filter pads in the residual waste.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Problem description:
The water in the upper tank does not flow into the drinking water tank. More and more water remains in the upper tank.
Possible cause:

  1. Sediments clog the ceramic filter.
  2. There is still air in the ceramic filter, which slows down the water flow.

There is still air in the PIPRIME filter cartridge.
Proposed solutions:

  1.   Clean the ceramic filter as described on page 24 (item 5).
  2. Immerse the ceramic filter under water with the thread facing upwards until the air in the filter has escaped.
  3. There may still be air in the PIPRIME filter cartridge. Please take out the filter cartridge and shake it well, and let tap water run into it again from below.
  4. Check if there is anything mechanical interrupting the flow.

Problem description: Water is running out of the drinking water tank.

Possible cause:

  1. The seal of the water tap has weakened.
  2. The drinking water tank is overflowing because the capacity has been exceeded.
  3. There is still too much air in the PIPRIME filter cartridge.

Proposed solutions:

  1. Clean the seals on the tap and also the drinking water container. Make sure that the container is dry when installing the tap.
  2. Make sure that the capacity (8 liters) of the drinking water tank is not exceeded.
  3. Take out the filter cartridge and shake it well. Let tap water run into it again from below.

Problem description:
The water has an unusual smell or taste.
Possible cause:

  1. Poor quality water was used, e.g. sulphurous water or water with a high manganese content.
  2. The PIPRIME cartridge has been used up.

Proposed solutions:

  1. Filter the same water a second time.
  2.  Replace the PIPRIME filter cartridge.

Use Oxosanum as described on XPages 20-21.
Problem description:
The ceramic filter in the upper tank shows green deposits.
Possible cause:
Your tap water contains nitrates and the MAUNAWAI® system is close to a light source. Nitrate is a plant fertiliser. Due to the nutrient medium and the incidence of light in the upper tank, algae growth is promoted and the nitrate is broken down. This first coating is usually harmless and does not pose a health risk. However, you should then clean the unit immediately.
Proposed solutions:

  1. Clean the appliance. Reapply the Oxosanum Tab as described in the instructions. If the effect is not immediate or green deposits remain in the PIPRIME cartridge, change the filter modules immediately.
  2. Do not place the appliance near a light source or protect the upper tank from sunlight.
