Preparing for Installation

1. Ensure the installation surface is level.
2. Place the freestanding bathtub in the desired location and outline the bathtub with a pencil or any soft material.
3. Identify the drain location underneath the unit and cut a hole into the subfloor large enough for the drain installation.
4. Use a SMARTPAN for easy installation and ensure proper support for the unit during drain installation.

Setting and Installing the Bathtub

1. Apply a generous bead of adhesive or silicone around the edge of the base of the bathtub.
2. Place the bathtub onto the outlined area and ensure it is properly aligned.
3. Apply a bead of tub and tile caulk around the edge of the base to seal it.
4. Fill the tub with water up to the overflow and then drain the tub while inspecting the waste connections below the floor for any excess caulk and adhesive.
5. Run a bead of silicone caulk around the base of the bathtub on the floor. Wipe off any excess caulk with a wet cloth.

1. Clean the floor and make sure that it is level.

3. Determine the location of the drain pipe, on the floor by taking measurements of the drain location underneath the unit. Cut a hole into the subfloor large enough to accommodate the plumbing trap. Ensure the space is free of pipes, floor joists, heating ducts and electrical wires.(Figure 2) The use of a SMARTPAN is highly recommended for easy install.

4. Using a blanket, cardboard, or other clean protective surface, turn the unit on its side so that the unit is properly supported during drain installation. Setting and Installing the bathtub

5. Apply a generous bead of adhesive or silicone to the bottom of the tub supports.
   Note the bottom supports will vary by tub model. (Figure 3)

6. Then apply a bead of tub and tile caulk around the edge of the base. (Figure 3)

7. Carefully set tub into position (Figure 4) and connect the drain hardware (preinstalled on the tub). Finish the installation of the plumbing.

8. Fill the tub with water to the overflow and then drain the tub while inspecting the waste connections below the floor for leaks. Access from below is recommended for this step

9. With the bathtub now in place, wipe off any excess tub and tile caulk and adhesive where the tub meets the floor.

10. Run a bead of silicone caulk around the bottom edge of the bathtub where it meets the floor. Wipe off any excess caulk with a wet cloth (Figure 5)
