J-B Weld Water Clear™ Pro Grade – 2” Deep Pour Epoxy Instructions
PREPARATION
Temperature & Humidity: The Resin and Hardener MUST be between 70-80°F before
use (to be sure, place the bottles in warm water before applying). The entire
project MUST be completed in an environment with temperatures between 70-80°F
and humidity below 60%.
(Pro Tip: Larger pours require cooler environments to reduce heat caused by
the exothermic reaction).
Clean Surface & Room: Clean the project surface of dust and debris and
ensure the working area dry. Cover the floor around the project with drop
cloth or plastic sheeting to catch drips.
Tools Needed:
➢ A pair of gloves
➢ Large measuring/mixing cups or dry 5-gallon buckets (as many as needed)
➢ Stir sticks or drill mixers (recommended for pours larger than 1 quart)
➢ Squeegee/spreader/brush
➢ Heat gun (to remove bubbles).
Seal Coat (if needed)
When working on porous surfaces such as wood, a seal coat is recommended. This
helps prevent bubbles during the flood coat process. Please mix a small amount
of J-B Weld ClearTop TableTop Epoxy. Once mixed, apply a thin coat to the wood
surface and edges using a squeegee brush to guide the material. Allow the
epoxy to become tacky prior to the flood coat.
MEASURE & MIX
Measuring Tips
➢ Wear gloves.
➢ Pour Depth is recommended to be max 2” – Please mix the proper amount of
material for this.
➢ Do not deviate from a 2:1 mix ratio.
For example, if 32 fl. oz of Resin (Part A) are in 1 cup, you must measure out
16 fl. oz of Hardener (Part B).
Mix Step 1: Pour the desired amount of Resin (Part A) into a mixing
cup/bucket. In a separate mixing cup/bucket, add the proper amount of Hardener
(Part B) to ensure a 2:1 mix ratio.
Mix Step 2: Pour Part A and Part B into a new mixing cup/bucket and mix
thoroughly for 5-7 minutes. Let the mixture sit for 3 minutes.
➢ If using a stir stick – scrap the sides and bottom of the measuring
cup/bucket to ensure proper mixing.
➢ If using a drill mixer – set it to low for 5-7 minutes.
Mix Step 2a (Color Pigment): If using a color pigment – add in and mix for another 1-2 minutes.
NOTE: Working time is 4-6 Hours once Resin and Hardener are mixed.
POUR
Deep Pour: Pour depth is recommended to be no greater than 2” and no less than
½”.
If a pour depth of greater than 2” is desired, multiple flood coat layers are
needed. Wait until 1st flood coat surface is tacky (Approx. 24-48 hours)
before pouring another flood coat. If the 1st flood coat fully cures, lightly
sand it with fine grit (220) sandpaper and clean the surface with a solvent
wipe (isopropyl alcohol or acetone) then repeat Steps 2 and 3.
REMOVE BUBBLES
Hold the heat gun about 6 inches away from the surface and sweep across the
entire surface at a 45° angle to pop the bubbles. Repeat as needed until the
bubbles are gone.
5. CURE TIME : Cover the project surface or keep the product in a clean,
dust-free environment until fully cured. The product takes about 24-48 hours
to be dry-to-touch, and 72 hours to fully cure.
