Special safety information for this unit
WARNING: Danger from electrical current! Contact with live leads or components can be fatal!

• The connection of the appliance must satisfy the relevant standards and regulations and may only be performed by an authorized specialist.
• The hob may not be used if the glass surface has cracks or is broken.
• The use of high-pressure cleaners or steam cleaners is prohibited. In- gress of liquids can lead to electric shock. Put the appliance never under water.

WARNING: Hot surface! Risk of burning!

• During operation the appliance and its accessible parts become hot. Special care must be taken to avoid touching heating elements. Children younger than 8 years must be kept away from the appliance.

• Let the appliance cool down before cleaning or maintenance.
  WARNING: Risk of fire!

• Unattended cooking on cooking hobs with fats or oil can be dangerous and can be cause fires. NEVER attempt to extinguish a fire with water but turn the unit off and then cover the flames e.g. with a lid or a plate.

• CAUTION: The cooking process must be observed. A short cooking operation is to be observed continuously.

• Never store objects on the cooking surface.

• Use only hob guards designed by the manfucturer of the cooking apl- liance or indicated by the manfucaturer or the appliance in the instruc- tions for use as suitable or hob guards incorporated in the appliance.
  The use of inappropriate guards can cause accidents.

• The appliance is not intended for operation with an external timer or external remote-control system.

• Make sure that with installing adequate air circulations ensured and the ventilation slots are not blocked.

• Do not store any cleaning agents or flammable materials in the appliance or in the immediate vicinity.

• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

• Children shall not play with the appliance.

• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children, unless they are older than 8 years and are supervised.

• Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners or sharp metal objects for cleaning the glass surface. The glass can be scratched or destroved.

• Do not try to repair the appliance on your own. Always contact an au-  thorized technician. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons to avoid a hazard.

Transport and packaging

Transport the appliance
Secure the appliance sufficiently and protect it against weather during transport.

Unpacking the appliance

• Remove the appliance from its packaging.

• Remove all packaging material, such as foils, filler and cardboard packaging.
  Dispose of packaging materials that are no longer required in accordance with the locally applicable regulations.

• To prevent hazards, check the appliance for any transport damage.

• In case of damage, do not put the appliance into operation. Contact your distributor.

NOTE:
Production residue or dust may have collected on the appliance. We recommend cleaning the appliance according to chapter “Cleaning and maintenance”.

Installation

The hob is designed for installation in standard kitchen units.
Before installation, make a note of the serial number, which you will find on the rating label (hob base).
WARNING:
The installation and the connection to the main power may only be performed by an authorized specialist.

Risk of cutting injuries!
Beware of cutting edges on the appliance.
Recommendation, wear protective gloves when installing / transporting the appliance to avoid injury from possible sharp edges.
CAUTION:

• The worktop, the cabinet, veneers, plastic coat- ings, used adhesives etc. must be sufficient heatresistant (min. 100°C).
• Do not mount the hob above cooling equipment, dishwashers and tumble dryers.

Safety distances
CAUTION:
Make sure that adequate air circulations ensured, and the ventilation slots are not blocked. Follow appropriate safety distances!

• The appliance must be installed so that heat can be dissipated. The ventilation openings must not be blocked (see illustration).
• The distance between the hob and the cooker hood must be at least as large as specified in the installation instructions for the hood. If the hood manufacturer’s instructions are missing or if highly flammable materials (e.g. wall cupboard) are installed above the appliance, keep to the safety distance shown.
• A minimum distance must be left below the cutout. No heat-sensitive objects (base unit, drawer, etc.) may be located in this area. Any existing side panels or drawers must be sawn out or removed accordingly.

Preparing the worktop for installation
CAUTION:
Before sawing, tape the outer edge of the cut-out with wide tape to avoid marks from the jigsaw on the worktop.

• The hob can be installed on a worktop with a thickness of between min. 30 mm and max. 40 mm, it must be horizontal and sealed on the wall side against overflowing liquids or moisture.
• The hob must be surrounded by at least 50 mm of worktop and run parallel to the front edge of the worktop.
• The cut surfaces (cut-out edges) must be sealed with special lacquer, silicone rubber or casting resin to prevent swelling due to moisture.
• The worktop in the area of the cut-out must be thoroughly clean and dry!

Installing the hob
CAUTION:
First place the front of the hob on a padded surface to prevent damage.
Step 1: Apply sealing tape
Before installing the hob, attach the enclosed, self-adhesive sealing tape (5) to the underside of the hob frame.

• Do not use silicone! Attach the seal to the underside of the hob frame, leaving a gap of approx.’3 mm from the edge of the glass.
• Apply the seal around the entire circumference and cut off any excess material. Bring the two ends of the seal together so that they fit snugly.

Step 2: Fasten the retaining clips
Secure the hob with a total of 5 retaining clips to prevent it from slipping.

Fasten the clips (1) to the holes (2) provided on the hob using the screws (3).

Step 3: Inserting the hob
Make sure that the distances to the cut-out are the same on all four sides and that the seal rests on the worktop.

• Place the hob in the prepared cut-out with the connection cable in front and the control panel facing forwards and press it firmly into place.
• Check that the hob is positioned properly and horizontally. If there is nothing more to  correct,you can tighten  the retaining clipsfrom below  tofix the hob in place.

Electrical connection

Information for the authorized expert!
WARNING:

• The installation to the mains supply must conform to the local standards and regulations.
• Connecting the appliance to a domestic power socket or using multiple sockets or extension ca- bles is not permitted.
• Improper connection may cause to an electric  shock!
• Before connecting, ensure that the power supply corresponds with the information on the rating label (hob bottom) and the wiring diagram.
• The appliance is suitable for three-phase and AC current.
• Select a suitable cord as mains cable, considering the connection type and rated power of the unit.
• Fix the mains cable in the tension relief.
• The electrical installation of the appliance should be equipped with an emergency switch, which switches off the whole appliance from the mains supply in an emergency. The distance between the contacts of the emergency switch must be at least 3 mm.
• Arrange the mains cable in such a way that it does not get in contact with any hot components of the appliance. Do not lead it over sharp edges or corners.

Startup / Operation

Before initial use
Cean the hob thoroughly. Use a cloth with warm water and a little special cleaner for glass ceramic hobs.
Be sure to follow the  instructions in the “Cleaning and maintenance” section.
Selecting appropriate cookware

CAUTION:
The cooking surface and the base of the cookware must always be clean and dry.
Wrong!
Cookware is too small.
Heat loss!
Cookware ground uneven.
Poor heat transfer!
Lid does not close properly.
Heat loss!
Correct! To save time and energy!
Diameter of the cookware corresponds with the diameter of the hob.
The cookware base is fully resting, and the lid closes properly.
Correct operation of the sensor buttons
The appliance is operated via touch buttons at the control panel.

• The buttons react to the slightest touch. You do not need to apply any pressure.
• The appliance reacts best when touching the buttons with the fingertips and with dry hands.
• Once a touch has been registered, a brief beep will sound.
• Ensure that the control panel is always clean and dry. Objects or a small liquid film can impair operation.

Power level settings
The settings below are guidelines only. The exact setting depends on various factors, such as your cookware and the amount you are cooking. Basically, the settings are empirical values → use, observe, adjust, learn!

butter, and foods that burn quickly – gentle simmer- ing – slow warming

–  cooking rice
5 – 6| – pancakes
7 – 8| – sautéing – cooking pasta
9| – stir-frying – searing – bringing soup to the boil – boiling water

Switching a cooking zone on/off
After connection to the power supply, a signal tone sounds and all displays light up briefly.

• Place suitable cookware on the respectively cooking zone.

• Switch the appliance on using button (M9). All displays show [–].

• Select the cooking zone to be used with the respective button (M1) – (M4), the corresponding display flashes.

• Set a power level from 1 to 9 using buttons (M5) and/or (M8).
  – If you do not select a power level within one minute, the hob switches off automatically.
  – You can change the power level at any time during cooking.

• To switch off a cooking zone, select the cooking zone again and set the power level back to 0.

Residual heat indicator
WARNING: Risk of burns!
Do not touch the cooking zones while the residual heat indicator lights up.
After switching off the cooking zone, the residual heat of the corresponding zone is indicated with [H].
This warns against touching the zone.

Automatic boiling
This function automatically switches from high powerfor boiling/heating to the previously selected lower power for further cooking.

• Set the power level for the desired zone to 9 and press the button (M5), the corresponding zone display shows [A] and [9] alternately.
• Within the next 30 seconds, select the lower power level required for you to continue cooking.
  The table below shows the cooking time (min) for each power level (PL):

NOTE:
When changing the power level, the elapsed time is automatically included in the corresponding cooking time for the new power level.
Safety child lock
The appliance is equipped with a locking function to prevent unintentional operation.

• Keep pressing the button (M6) for approx. 3 sec- onds to activate (deactivate) the safety child lock.
  The timer display indicates activation with [Lo]. All buttons, except the power button are locked for operation.

When the timer function is active, the timer display alternately shows the remaining time and [Lo].

Timer function

General information

• You can use the timer to automatically end the cooking process on one or more zones after a preset time.
• The timer can be set between 1 and 99 minutes. As long as the minute display flashes in the timer display, the setting can be overwritten.
• A red dot next to the power level indicates that a timer has been set for this zone.
• The power level can be corrected at any time without changing the time setting.
• The timer function is cancelled when the appli- ance is switched off.

Using the timer to switch off one cooking zone

• Select the cooking zone that is already in opera- tion and for which you want to set the timer.
• Press the button (M7) for the timer. The timer dis- play lights up [00].
• Set the time using buttons (M5) and/or (M8).
  The timer display shows the remaining time.

Using the timer to switch off several cooking zones

• Do the timer setting for several cooking zones as described under “Using the timer to switch off one cooking zone”.

The timer display shows the remaining time of the cooking zone for which the shortest maturity was selected.
The cooking zone can be recognized by the flashing dot next to the power level.
When the operation period of this cooking zone is elapsed, the display shows the remaining time of the cooking zone for which the next shortest maturity was selected.

NOTE:
You can display the remaining cooking time of another cooking zone at any time. To do this, select the corresponding cooking zone.
Once the set time has elapsed, the cooking mode switches off automatically, a signal tone sounds and the timer display shows [00].

Cancelling the timer setting prematurely

• Select the required cooking zone for which you want to cancel the timer.
• Press the button (M7) for the timer. The timer dis- play flashes.
• Reset the timer setting to 0.

Overheating protection
A temperature sensor monitors the interior of the appliance. In the event of overheating, the heating process s is  automatically interrupted to prevent damage.
Safety switch-off
The automatic switch-off is a protective function for your appliance. If a cooking zone is in operation for a long time and you do not make any entries on the control panel, the safety switch-off is activated.
The standard switch-off times (hrs) for the different power levels (PL) can be found in the table below:

Switching off the appliance

• Once the cooking process is complete, switch off the appliance using the button (M9).

Energy saving tips
Information to reduce the environmental effect of cooking (acc. VO (EU) No. 66/2014 appendix I, No. 2)

• Use pans and pots with flat floors. Uneven floors increase the energy consumption. The diameter of the pot and pan floors should be according to the size of the cooking zone, or bigger.

• Pans and pots, which are too small on the cooking zone leads to energy losses.
  Note: Dishes producer partly indicate the upper pot diameter. It is usually larger than the diameter of the pot floor.

• Use a small pot for small quantities. A large pot, which is only slightly filled, required a lot of energy.

• Use as little water as possible. This saves energy. Vegetables retain their vitamins.

• Always close pots with a suitable lid. When cooking without lid you need four times more energy. When using glass lids, more energy can be saved because you can see into the pot without open the lid.

• Use a quick cooker to clearly reduce the cooking time and save energy.

• After boiling or frying, switch off the used cooking zones to a smaller power level.

• Use the residual heat of the pan, the pot and the food. Switch off the cooking zones 5-10 minutes before cooking time.

Cleaning and maintenance

WARNING:

• Always switch off the appliance completely before cleaning and maintenance work and disconnect it from the power supply if necessary.

• Allow the unit to cool down before cleaning.

• Do not use steam cleaners for cleaning the appli- ance; moisture could enter electrical components.
  Risk of electric shock! Hot steam could damage the plastic parts.

• Never use flammable substances, such as thinner, kerosene, gasoline or acids for cleaning.

• The unit must be dry before restarting operation.
  CAUTION:

• Do not use a wire brush or other sharp, abrasive items.

• Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners or sharp metal objects for cleaning the glass surface. The surfaces can be scratched or destroyed.

• Always consider the application and safety notes of the detergent.

Cleaning the hob

• Remove food residues while the hob is still warm with a damp cloth or paper towel.
• Wash the hob with a soft sponge and a little watand dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.

For burnt-on residues, help yourself to products from the specialist departments of stores.

Troubleshooting

Before you contact an authorized specialist
In the event of some malfunctions, the hob automati- cally goes into protection mode and the corresponding error code is displayed.

Problem / possible cause / action

Check the power supply / main fuse.
Control panel does not react or only very difficult

Cracking noises during operation
May be caused by the cookware construction (lay- ers of different metals).
Ventilation noise after switching off
No failure, the fan continues to run for some time for overheating protection.
Error code E1| Disconnect the power supply briefly. If the fault occurs again, con- tact a specialist!
Display board is not receiving the signal from the power sup- ply board.

Disposal
Meaning of the “Dustbin” symbol
This symbol indicates that this product must not be disposed of with household waste in accordance with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (2012/19/EU) and national legislation.
Improper handling of waste electrical and electronic equipment can have negative effects on the environment and human health due to potentially hazardous substances that are often contained in waste electri- cal and electronic equipment.
Consumers are legally obliged to dispose of electrical and electronic appliances separately from unsorted municipal waste at the end of their service life. By disposing of this product properly, you are also contributing to the effective utilization of natural resources.
Information on collection points for old appliances can be obtained from your local authority, the public waste disposal authority, an authorized body for the disposal of old electrical and electronic appliances or your waste collection service.
This product must be returned to a designated collection point. This can be done, for example, by returning it when purchasing a similar product or by handing it in at an authorized collection point for the recy- cling of old electrical and electronic equipment. The return of old appliances is free of charge. Your dealer and contractual partner is also obliged to take back the old appliance free of charge.
