Cuisinart CPM-32 Series Movie Theater Style Popcorn Maker

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be taken, including the following:

  1. Read all instructions BEFORE USING YOUR POPCORN MAKER.

  2. UNPLUG MAIN POWER CORD FROM OUTLET WHILE NOT IN USE AND BEFORE CLEANING.

  3. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by Cuisinart may cause injuries.

  4. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.

  5. Do not allow cord to hang over any edge where a child can reach it. Arrange cord to avoid pulling, tripping, or entanglement.

  6. To avoid any risk of electrical shock, do not immerse cord or kettle into water or other liquids.

  7. Do not operate the appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any matter.

  8. Send the unit to the nearest authorized service center for examination, repair, or adjustment. (ONLY technicians should open up the unit.)

  9. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other liquids. Allow hot parts to cool down before handling or moving the appliance.

  10. Do not attempt to repair this appliance yourself.

  11. Do not attempt to make popcorn without using oil.

  12. Do not immerse popping kettle in water.

  13. Kettle surface is HOT and should NOT be touched during popping or just after use.

  14. Do not touch hot surfaces. Always use handles or knobs to operate.

  15. This appliance should not be used by or near children or individuals with certain disabilities.

  16. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.

  17. Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord in the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to off, then remove plug from wall outlet.

  18. Do not use outdoors.

  19.  Do not use appliance for other than its intended use.

  20. To avoid overheating, always add oil and then kernels before operating.

  21. Extreme caution must be used when unloading popcorn. Always place the unit on a countertop so that residual hot oil or water running out will not cause burns.

  22. DO NOT CLEAN USING ANY ABRASIVE MATERIAL.

  23. NEVER FORCE ANY PARTS OR BRACKETS INTO POSITION.

  24. CAUTION: A burn can result from misuse of this product. Read popping instructions for proper procedure.

  25. No parts are intended for the dishwasher.

  26. If plugged into an outlet, the unit should not be left unattended.

  27. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.

  28. Do not operate your appliance in an appliance garage or under a wall cabinet. When storing in an appliance garage, always unplug the unit from the electrical outlet.

  29. Not doing so could create a risk of fire, especially if the appliance touches the walls of the garage, or the door touches the unit as it closes.

  30. This popcorn maker will not shut off automatically. To avoid overheating, add corn and oil before operating.

  31. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance
    by a person responsible for their safety 9. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

  32. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

INSTRUCTIONS

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

  1. A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
  2. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use.
  3. If an extension cord is used:
    • The marked electrical rating of an extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance.
    • The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.

ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE

  1. Run the kettle stirrer through the opening in the center of the kettle lid. Insert the top of the kettle stirrer into the top of the main housing and turn clockwise to secure in place.
  2. Place the kettle onto the kettle hook onv the left side of the main housing. Raisev the kettle so that it rests on the top of thevkettle release tab.
  3. Insert the internal kettle plug intovthe socket on the bottom of the kettle.
  4.  Insert the kernel catcher and screenvat the bottom of the popcorn makerv housing. This will help to separate anyvunpopped kernels from the popcorn.
  5. Attach tilt door.
  6. Place door on hinges

BEFORE FIRST USE

Remove all packaging and any promotional labels or stickers from your popcorn maker. Be sure that all parts (listed in Parts and Features) of your new popcorn maker have been included before discarding any packaging materials. You may want to keep the box and packing materials for use at a later date. Before using your Cuisinart® Movie Theater-Style Popcorn Maker for the first time, wipe housing, kettle, and accessories with a damp cloth to remove any dust from the warehouse or shipping.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Be sure that the popcorn maker has been assembled properly before plugging in and popping.

  2. Plug the main power cord into an electrical outlet.

  3. Add 2 tablespoons of oil (vegetable, canola, corn, peanut, or safflower oil) and ½ cup of corn kernels to the kettle; lower the lid.
    Note: Use 2 scoops of the oil measuring spoon provided and 2 scoops of the kernel measuring cup provided.

  4. Turn the power switch to the ON position.
    Note: You do not need to allow the kettle to heat up beforehand.

  5. After approximately 3 minutes, popcorn  will start to pop up and out of the lid.

  6. When the unit is finished popping (you will no longer hear the corn popping), immediately turn the power switch to the OFF position and press down on the kettle release tab located on the right of the housing to release the kettle.

  7. This will allow the popcorn to fall from the kettle.

  8. Before scooping popcorn, return the kettle to the upright position by using the kettle handle.

  9. Use the popcorn scoop to remove the popcorn from the unit.

  10. After the popcorn has been removed from the unit, remove the screen of the kernel catcher at the bottom of the unit. Remove the tray and discard the unpopped kernels.

  11. Remove plug from the power supply if the unit will not be used for additional batches.

  12. Repeat steps 3 through 9 for additional batches.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

After using the popcorn maker, let it cool completely. Use a wet cloth to clean the housing and doors. It is strongly recommended to clean the kettle frequently to avoid burning excess oil onto the bottom of the inner pot.

  1. Turn the power switch to the OFF position.
  2. Pour 4 to 6 ounces of water (NO detergent is necessary) into the kettle.
  3. Turn the power switch to the ON position to boil the water, allowing the stirrer to remove oil stuck on the surface.
  4. After 1 to 2 minutes of boiling, allow to cool, then pour water into a deep bowl and discard.

CAUTION: THE KETTLE IS HOT.
You may also remove the kettle and clean it with a nonabrasive scouring pad. Do not immerse kettle or electrical plug in water. Any other servicing should be performed by an Authorized Service Representative.

LIMITED THREE-YEAR WARRANTY

This warranty is available only to U.S. consumers who purchase products directly from Cuisinart or an authorized Cuisinart® reseller. You are a consumer if you own a Cuisinart® Movie Theater-Style Popcorn Maker that was purchased at retail for personal, family, or household use. Except as otherwise required under applicable law, this warranty is not available to retailers or other commercial purchasers or owners or consumers who purchase from unauthorized Cuisinart resellers. We warrant that your Cuisinart® Movie TheaterStyle Popcorn Maker will be free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal home use for 3 years from the date of original purchase. We recommend that you visit our website, https://cuisinart.registria.com, for a fast, efficient way to complete your product registration.

However, product registration does not eliminate the need for the consumer to maintain the original proof of purchase in order to obtain the warranty benefits. In the event that you do not have proof of purchase date, the purchase date for purposes of this warranty will be the date of manufacture.

CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS ONLY
California law provides that for In-Warranty Service, California residents have the option of returning a nonconforming product (A) to the store where it was purchased or (B) to another retail store that sells Cuisinart products of the same type. The retail store shall then, according to its preference, either repair the product, refer the consumer to an independent repair facility, replace the product, or refund the purchase price less the amount directly attributable to the consumer’s prior usage of the product. If neither of the above two options results in the appropriate relief to the consumer, the consumer may then take the product to an independent repair facility, if service or repair can be economically accomplished.

Cuisinart and not the consumer will be responsible for the reasonable cost of such service, repair, replacement, or refund for nonconforming products under warranty. California residents may also, according to their preference, return nonconforming products directly to Cuisinart for repair or, if necessary, replacement by calling our Consumer Service Center toll-free at 1-800-726- 0190. Cuisinart will be responsible for the cost of the repair, replacement, and shipping and handling for such nonconforming products under warranty.

This warranty expressly excludes any defects or damages caused by attempted use of this unit with a converter, as well as use with accessories, replacement parts, or repair service other than those authorized by Cuisinart. This warranty does not cover any damage caused by accident, misuse, shipment, or other than ordinary household use. This warranty excludes all incidental or consequential damages.

Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of these damages, so these exclusions may not apply to you. You may also have other rights, which vary from state to state.
