IMPORTANT TIPS

  1. Vacuum sealing is NOT a substitute for the heat process of canning. Perishables still need to be refrigerated or frozen.
  2. During the vacuum sealing process, the pressure can draw small amounts of liquids crumbs, or food particles into the Vacuum Chamber in the machine. To prevent this, follow these tips:
  3. For moist and juicy food: freeze first and avoid overfilling bags.
  4. For soups, sauces, and liquids: freeze first and avoid overfilling bags, or use a canister or container in the refrigerator.
  5. For powdery or fine-grained food: avoid overfilling bags or use a canister or container.
  6. When vacuum sealing items with sharp edges (dry spaghetti, silverware, etc.), protect the  bag from punctures by wrapping items in soft cushioning material such as a paper towel. You can use a canister or container instead of a bag.
  7. Clean the Drip Tray after each use.
  8. Avoid overfilling; always leave at least 3 inches (7.62 cm) of bag material between the bag contents and the top of the bag, which allows room for the bag material to cinch tightly against the food and prevents the bag from pulling out of the Vacuum Channel during the sealing process. Then leave at least one additional inch (2.54 cm) of bag material for each time you plan to reuse the bag.
  9. To prevent wrinkles in the seal when vacuum sealing bulky items, gently stretch bag flat while inserting bag into Vacuum Channel and continue to hold bag until Vacuum Pump starts.
  10. When using accessories, remember to leave 1 inch (2.54 cm) of space at top.
  11. Wait 20 seconds before the next operation when proceeding with vacuum sealing/single sealing/external vacuum sealing. Continuous operation is not allowed to avoid machine overheating.
  12.  After use, please put the Support Card back in the Vacuum Chamber so as not to affect the use of the Sealing Sponge under pressure deformation.

PRESERVATION TIME OF VACUUM-SEALED FOOD

MIOOS -VCS-001-Vacuum-Sealer-Machine-16

FOOD PREPARATION GUIDELINES

MEAT & FISH

  • Pre-freeze meat and fish for 1 to 2 hours before vacuum sealing can help retain the juice and shape and guarantee a better seal.
  • If there is no way to pre-freeze, place a folded paper towel between the meat/fish and the top of the bag, but below the seal area. Leave the paper towel in the bag to absorb excess moisture and juices during the vacuum sealing process.

NOTE
Beef may appear darker (not an indication of spoilage) after vacuum sealing due to the removal of oxygen.

HARD CHEESES

Vacuum seal the cheese after each use to keep it fresh. Make your bag extra long and allow 1 inch (2.54 cm) of bag material each time to open and reseal in addition to the 3 inches (7.62
cm) of extra space you leave between contents and seal edge. Cut the sealed edge, remove the cheese, and reseal it after dropping it back.

VEGETABLES

vegetables need to be blanched before vacuum sealing to stop the enzyme action that could lead to loss of flavor, color, and texture.
Place the vegetables in boiling water or the microwave until cooked while still crisp, and immerse in cold water to stop the cooking process. Dry them on a towel before vacuum sealing.

Blanching times vary from different kinds of vegetables.

Leafy greens and peas: Carrots:

MIOOS -VCS-001-Vacuum-Sealer-Machine-17 WARNING
Never vacuum-seal mushrooms, onions, and garlic since they can produce anaerobic bacteria.

LEAF VEGETABLES

Use a container to store leaf vegetables. Wash the vegetables and dry them with a towel or salad spinner, then put them in a container and vacuum seal them with the Accessory Hose. Store in refrigerator.

FRUITS

Pre-freeze soft fruits or berries for 1 to 2 hours until solidly frozen. Fruits in individual servings need to be placed on a baking sheet and spread out to prevent freezing together in a block. Once frozen, remove them from the baking sheet and vacuum seal them in the bag. Put them into the freezer once they have been vacuum-sealed. Use a container if stored in the refrigerator.

NOTE
Cut the apples into slices and spray them with little lemon juice to prevent them from browning. Bananas may actually decay faster under a vacuum seal because of their natural ripening.

POWDERY FOODS
When vacuum sealing powdery foods such as coffee, place a coffee filter or paper towel at the top of the bag or container before vacuum sealing or simply place the food with its original bag into the vacuum bag to vacuum seal.

LIQUIDS
Before you vacuum seal liquids such as soup stock, pre-freeze in a casserole dish, loaf pan, or ice cube tray until solid. Remove the frozen liquid from the pan and vacuum seal it in a bag. Store them in the freezer. When ready to use, cut the corner of the bag and place it in a dish in° ° the microwave, or drop it into the water at a low simmer, below 170 F (75 C).

MEALS & LEFTOVERS
Use containers to store make-ahead meals and leftovers and vacuum seal them.

SNACK FOODS
Use containers to store snack foods and vacuum seal them to maintain freshness longer.

NON-FOOD ITEMS

Not just food, the Mioos Vacuum Sealing System can protect non-food items from oxidation, corrosion, and moisture. For example, it protects vital documents (like birth certificates, car titles, and your will) against water damage in case of a flood or burst pipe and items that can degrade over time like bandages or medications.

TROUBLESHOOTING

  1. The vacuum sealer is not operating:
    • Check whether there is a power outage or if properly plugging the machine.
    • Check the electric wire, the plug, and the machine itself to see if there is any damage, and if there is, do not use it.
  2. Insufficient air suction or failure of automatic heat sealing.
    • Check whether the lid is fully locked.
    • If making a bag from a roll, make sure one end of the bag is sealed.
    • Check whether the sealing function is working correctly.
    • Make sure the open end of the bag is down inside the Drip Tray.
    • Check whether the bag is damaged and causing air leakage.
    • Check for wrinkles in the bag along the Sealing Strip. To prevent wrinkles in the seal, gently stretch the bag flat while inserting the bag into the Drip Tray.
    • Check whether there are obstructions on the Sealing Sponge and the Upper and Lower Welding Bar.
    • Check if the Sealing Sponge and Welding Bar are deformed or damaged.
    • Make sure the Accessory Hose is not attached to the Accessory Port.
  3. After vacuum sealing, air enters the bag again:
    • Examine the seal. A wrinkle along the seal may cause air to re-enter the bag. To prevent wrinkles in the seal, gently stretch the bag flat while inserting the bag into the Drip Tray.
    • Sometimes moisture or food material (such as juices, grease, crumbs, powders, etc.) along the seal prevents the bag from sealing properly. Cut the bag open, wipe the top inside of the bag, and re-seal.
    • Check whether the bag is damaged for packaging sharp items. Try another bag if the bag is damaged. Cover sharp food items with a soft cushioning material, such as a paper towel, and re-seal.
  4. The sealing function is not working correctly:
    • Too much liquid in bag, freeze before vacuuming.
    • Check for food debris around the seal area. Remove the Gasket, clean it, and reinsert it into the Vacuum Channel.
    • The overheating sealing element will lead to the melting of sealed end of the preservation bag. If using the machine for over 30 minutes, you can open the top lid and wait a few minutes for the Sealing Strip to cool down.
    • Check for wrinkles. To prevent wrinkles in the seal, gently stretch the bag flat while inserting the bag into the Vacuum Channel.
  5. Bag Melts
The Sealing Strip may have become too hot. Always wait at least 20 seconds for the appliance to cool down before you vacuum seal another item.

CARE AND CLEANING

  1. Remove the Power Cord from the electrical outlet. Do not immerse in liquid.
  2. After use, wait for the machine to cool down.
  3. Lift the Drip Tray out and empty it after each use. Wash in warm soapy water or place on top rack of dishwasher. Check for food residues in the Drip Tray Slot. Clean if needed. Dry thoroughly before reinserting into the appliance.
  4. Remove all food around the Gaskets. Wipe off Gasket with warm a soapy cloth if needed.
  5. Upper and Lower Gaskets can be removed for cleaning. Clean with warm, soapy water and allow Gaskets to dry before reinserting them in machine.
