SAFETY DEVICES
AC OUTLET CIRCUIT BREAKER (Pic. 16)
Your generator is equipped with an output indicator light, see above. When this light goes out, and the red light glows, then the generator will produce NO POWER, but the engine will keep running.
To restart the power supply;

  1. Remove the appliance, check the wattage, page 13.

  2. Press the “Power Restart Button”, Pic. 16.

  3. This should mean that the green output indicator light is illuminated again.
3A. I f the green output indicator light does not illuminate you will need to stop your generator,  see page 12.
    3B. Wait 2 minutes.
3C. Start your generator, page 12, ensure the green output indicator light is illuminated.

  4. Re – attach the appliance.

  5. If the output indicator light goes out and the red light glows and the output power stops then the attached appliance is either faulty or the appliance’s required power is greater than the generator’s output, check the appliance’s wattage requirements. See page 13.

12V DC OUTLET CIRCUIT BREAKER (Pic. 17)
Your generator is equipped with a DC output circuit breaker. This circuit breaker will “pop” out if the attached appliance is either faulty or the appliance’s required power need is greater than the generator’s DC power output.

To reset the circuit breaker and restart the power supply;

  1. Remove the appliance.
  2. Stop the generator, see page 12.
  3. Wait 2 minutes.
  4. Push the circuit breaker back in, it should stay in. If not  the circuit breaker is still over heated, allow to cool down for another 2 minutes before trying again to push  it in.
  5. Start generator, see page 12.
  6. Re-attach the appliance.
  7. If the circuit breaker “pop’s” out again and the power stops then the attached appliance is either faulty or the appliances required power is greater than the generators output, check the appliances power requirements.

LOW OIL LEVEL INDICATOR LIGHT
If the oil level in the motor sump drops to a dangerously low level then the oil light, yellow, will flicker and the generator will automatically stop.
If the oil level in the motor sump is dangerously low, then the generator will not start, however the low oil light, yellow, will flicker only when the recoil starter is pulled.
If your generator will not start always check the oil level first.
To add oil or check the oil level, refer page 10.

GENERAL MAINTENANCE

Keep the generator in a clean and dry environment where it is not exposed to dust, dirt, moisture, or corrosive vapours.
Do not allow the cooling air slots in the generator to become clogged with foreign material such as leaves, snow, etc.
Do not use a garden hose to clean the generator. Water entering the fuel system or other internal parts of the unit can cause problems that will decrease the life of the generator.
To clean the unit:

  1. Use a soft bristle brush and/or vacuum cleaner to loosen and remove dirt and debris.
  2. Wipe the exterior surfaces of the generator with a damp cloth.

SPARK PLUG MAINTENANCE
To ensure proper engine operation, the spark plug must be properly gapped and free of deposits.
Loosen and remove the screw then lift the panel away, to access the spark plug.
Pull the HT lead off the spark plug, Pic 18, and clean any dirt from around the spark plug base. Using the spark plug socket supplied remove the spark plug, Pic 19.
Inspect spark plug for damage, and clean with a wire brush before reinstalling. If insulator is cracked or chipped, spark plug should be replaced. Make sure electrode gap is 0.60mm-0.80mm.
NOTE: If replacing, use the following recommended spark plug: A7RTC.
Screw spark plug back by hand, avoid damaging threads of the cylinder.
Put the spark plug back in position and use the spark plug wrench to tighten it. If spark plug is new, use 1/2 turn to compress washer appropriate amount. If reusing old spark plug, use 1/8 to 1/4 turn for proper washer compression.
Replace spark plug cap.
Slide the panel into place, and secure with the screw.
Warning! Spark plug must be assembled firmly, or it will become hot and may damage generator.
A loose spark plug can overheat and damage the engine.
CLEANING SPARK ARRESTER
Depending on the type of fuel used, the type and amount of oil used, your spark arrester on the outside end of the muffler may become blocked with carbon deposits. If you notice a power loss with your petrol-powered tool, you may need to remove these deposits to restore performance.

  1. Remove the spark arrester with tools.
  2. Brush the excess carbon deposits from the inside of the spark arrester
  3. Refit the spark arrester
Never run your generator without the spark arrester as sparks may exit the muffler and cause a grass fire.
