Setup and connection

Location tips

  • Make sure that the environment is clean and free from dust.
  • Avoid placing the unit close to sources of heat or in direct sunlight.
  • Do not place any heavy objects on the cables or the speakers.

The following information relates to the “perfect home cinema” in which the viewer or listener sits centrally at the correct distance from the television or screen (see diagram, right) and no objects (tables or similar) are placed between the viewer and the screen. Unfortunately, the room, furnishings or other circumstances do not always allow for optimum arrangement. Modern AV receivers offer a range of solutions to compensate electronically for any deficiencies in placement. The following general rule applies: You can always experiment on what works best in your listening room in terms of sound and appearance based on our recommendations. Let your ears (and eyes) decide!

Front speakers

  • The front speakers CS 35 FCR Mk3 are placed to the left and right of the screen.
  • They should form, as far as possible, an equilateral triangle with the listener – what is known as the stereo triangle (distance to listener = distance between speakers).
  • The speakers should project sound directly into the room or slightly towards the listener.

Center speaker

  • The center speaker should be placed centrally on an arc curving slightly towards the television.
  • The table stand ensures that the speaker is stable and minimises vibration. No fi xing is required: place the speaker in the centre of the stand.

Surround speakers
The surround speakers are placed or wall-mounted to the sides of the listener at head height (140 to 210 cm).

Wall mounting
If you choose to wall-mount your speakers, please note the following:

Risk of damage!
Incorrect mounting can lead to damage.

  • If mounting the speakers on the wall, make sure that the job is carried out by a professional.
  • Before drilling holes use a metal detector to make sure that there are no electrical cables or pipes in the wall within the drilling area.
  • Use only suitable screws and wall plugs for fi xing. Verify the carrying capacity of the walls.
  • Use the key-hole slot(s) on the rear of the speakers to hang the speakers on the screw(s) fi xed into the wall before.
  • The key-hole slot(s) and the threaded hole on the rear of the speakers are also intended for fi xing the speakers to a wall bracket or speaker stand (you will fi nd suitable items in our online shop)

Connecting

  • Unplug the power plug of your AV receiver or multichannel active subwoofer from the mains.
  • Lay speaker cable from your AV receiver or multi-channel active subwoofer to the speaker. Use a high-quality double wire speaker cable with marked strands for this.
  • Use the connection terminal with the two clamps on the back of the speaker to connect the speaker cables.
  • The terminals are each marked red (+) and black (–).

Make sure the polarity is correct!
Connect the like coloured terminals. The speaker connections on your AV receiver or multi-channel active subwoofer should be similarly marked. The strands of the speaker cables are marked with different colours or shapes.

  1.  Split the wire down by approx. 30 mm on both ends and remove approx. 10 mm of insulation each.
  2.  Twist the wire so that no strands are protruding.
  3.  Press down the red and the black levers on the connector clamps and guide the exposed ends of the single wires into the openings which are accessible now. Releasing the levers clamps the single wires securely in place.
  4.  Connect all of the cables to the speakers in this way.
  5.  Connect the other ends of the speaker cables to your AV receiver or multi-channel active subwoofer. You should be able to fi nd corresponding notes in the operating instructions of your device.

Crossover frequency

  • The optimum crossover frequency for the CS 35 Mk3-Set is 150 Hz. Where possible set your AV receiver or Decoder Station as close as possible to this value.
  • If the satellite speakers are used as part of a Concept C set the crossover frequency will be provided by the subwoofer.
  • For Concept E sets without DecoderStation you set the crossover frequency in your soundcard settings. If it is not possible to do this then please select the setting “small” for the satellite speakers.

Care and cleaning

Clean the speakers regularly with a soft, damp microfi ber cloth. Please be absolutely sure to observe the following notes in the process:

Risk of damage!
Using the wrong cleaning materials may damage the delicate surface of the case.

  • If possible, only use plain water without any additives. In case of stubborn marks, a mild soap solution may be used.
  • In no circumstances should caustic cleaning products, white spirit, thinners, petrol or similar be used for cleaning.

Disposal

Important information in accordance with the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (Germany: ElektroG)
We advise owners of electrical and electronic appliances that old electrical and electronic devices must be handed in separately from municipal waste, in accordance with the applicable regulations. Batteries and rechargeable batteries that are not fi rmly enclosed in old electrical devices and lamps, and that can be removed from the old device without destroying them, must be separated from them in a non-destructive manner before they are handed to the collection point for their intended disposal. Please take note of our information on the Batteries Act [Germany: BattG] below for disposing of batteries. You make an important contribution to returning, recycling and further processing of old devices if you separate your old devices into the correct collection groups for recycling. The symbol below of a crossed-out dustbin, applied to electrical and electronic appliances, also advises of the duty to separate collections:
Consumer electronics stores and supermarkets are obliged, under certain conditions, to take back old electrical and electronic devices, in accordance with section 17 of the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act. Stationary retailers must take back an old electrical device of the same type when a new electrical device is bought (1:1 return). This also applies to home deliveries. These retailers must also take back up to three small old electrical devices (≤ 25cm) without this being linked to a new purchase (0:1 return). In accordance with the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act, as online retailers of electrical devices and due to our product range, our obligation is limited to 1:1 return of large devices of > 50 cm when selling a new electrical or electronic device of the same type. We comply with the obligation of return of devices other than large devices through our service provider. You can fi nd the exact contact data and collection points on our website www.Teufel.de/entsorgung. It is also possible to return old electrical and electronic appliances free of charge at an offi cial delivery point run by the public waste disposal authorities.
Important: For safety reasons we ask that you refrain from sending lighting fi xtures (some lamps). For return of lighting fi xtures please use the public waste disposal collection points or contact us directly at www.Teufel.de/ entsorgung. As an end-user, you are responsible for deleting any personal data on old electrical appliances before handing it in.
Important: Our appliances can contain batteries/ rechargeable batteries. If this is the case, please refer to its attached product documentation for additional information on the type and chemical make-up of the battery. For products with battery compartments you can directly remove the batteries or rechargeable batteries and dispose of them properly. If the batteries are built in to the product, do not in any case attempt to remove the batteries yourself, instead contact one of our employees or appropriate specialist staff.
