Installation

Notes:

  • The installation steps outlined below apply to all N286 transceivers listed on the cover page. However, product features will differ. Please reference TrippLite.Eaton.com for more information about the features that apply to your specific model.
  • Transceivers are static-sensitive devices that require proper handling. An anti-static ESD wrist strap (such as P999-000, sold separately) should always be used when handling a transceiver.
  • Never install a transceiver with cables already connected. Always remove cables prior to installation to avoid damaging the cable, connectors and/or optical interface.
  • Installing and uninstalling the transceiver numerous times will shorten its useful lifespan. Do not install and uninstall more times than is necessary.
  1. Remove the transceiver from its packaging, leaving the dust plugs inserted in the optical bores.
  2. Gently insert the transceiver into your device’s module socket, pressing on the dust plugs until the transceiver locks into place.
  3. Verify that the transceiver is locked into place by trying to remove it from the module socket without releasing the latch. If it stays in place, it is properly seated. If it does not, re-insert it, firmly pressing on the dust plugs until it locks into place.
  4. Once you have verified that the transceiver is securely locked into place, remove the dust plugs from the optical bores and connect your cables.

Note: Save the dust plugs so they can be re-used if you must uninstall and re-install the transceiver.
