Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
-
Q: What should I do if I accidentally unplug the power cord?
A: If you accidentally unplug the power cord, the monitor will lose power and all user data stored in the memory (DDR4, 2667 MHz) will be destroyed. Make sure to save any important data before unplugging the power cord. -
Q: Can I remove the on-board coin-cell battery?
A: Removing the on-board coin-cell battery will result in secondary power loss and destroy system data, including system configuration and time-of-day information. Only remove the coin-cell battery if necessary and exercise caution.
Statement of Volatility
CAUTION: A CAUTION indicates either potential damage to hardware or loss of data and tells you how to avoid the problem.
The Dell U2424HE Monitor contains both volatile and non-volatile components. Volatile components lose their data immediately after power is removed from the component. Non-volatile components continue to retain their data even after power is removed from the component. The following Non-volatile components are present on the U2424HE Monitor system board.
Table 1. List of Non-Volatile Components on System Board:
Description| Reference Designator| Volatility Description|
User Accessible for external data| Remedial Action (action necessary to
erase data)
---|---|---|---|---
System EEPROM| U9| Non-Volatile memory, 32 KB For Storage of system setting
(OSD)| No| NA
HDMI EDID EEPROM| U10| Non-Volatile memory, 2 KB For Storage of HDMI EDID| No|
NA
System Flash| U8| Non-Volatile memory, 32 MB For Storage of system firmware|
No| NA
USB HUB Flash| U21| Non-Volatile memory, 4 MB For Storage of USB HUB firmware|
No| NA
USB-Type C PD Flash| U34| Non-Volatile memory, 8 MB For Storage of USB-Type C
PD firmware| No| NA
CAUTION: All other components on the system board lose data if power is removed from the system. Primary power loss (unplugging the power cord and removing the battery) destroys all user data on the memory (DDR4, 2667 MHz). Secondary power loss (removing the on-board coin-cell battery) destroys system data on the system configuration and time-of-day information.
