“LEAK TEST” Procedure

Note: Never use LP gas without testing for leaks in the system

  • Turn OFF the gas supply at the cylinder.
  • Turn OFF all appliance burner controls.
  • With the appliance burner control(s) in the OFF position, turn the gas cylinder valve ON. This pressurizes all lines to the appliance(s).
  • Now the gauge should provide the tank level reading.
  • If it still does not indicate the tank level, you are out of gas or have not connected the gauge enough to get the reading.
  • Watch the needle position on the gauge. Wait for around 3 seconds and then CLOSE the cylinder valve. The Gas Meter now monitors the pressure between the cylinder and the appliance.
  • Any leaks in the lines between the cylinder and appliance will be indicated by the needle movement toward the Red Colour.
  • If you find a leak, DO NOT USE GAS.
  • To detect a leak, apply soap solution to all connections and look for bubbles. An expanding bubble or bubbles indicate your leak.
  • Repair all leaks before using gas cylinders or appliances. Re-tighten where bubbles appear, and recheck for leakage using the soap and water solution.
  • If bubbles persist, you still leak. STOP: DO NOT USE the propane cylinder or appliance(s). Have a qualified propane service person recheck your propane system and correct leaks before using the propane system outlet.

TO DETERMINE GAS LEVELS

The Gas Meter gauge is read while gas is flowing in the system. It indicates the propane level in the tank only and will not indicate the exact tank level.

If the needle points to:

GAS: There is still plenty of the tank
LOW GAS: Early warning of low gas in the tank
REFILL: The tank should be refilled to avoid out of while cooking

Depending on the outside temperature vd-en Cas shows REFILI has colic 10-15 minutes of propane left.

REMEMBER: Use propane for at least 5 minutes before checking for low gas levels. It is best to read the gas level just before finishing using the gas appliance and check the level to refill before the next use.
Note: Before refilling or exchanging your cylinder, remove the Gas Meter for reuse with your new or refilled cylinder.

Gauge display based on temperatures:
Even in low temperatures propane gas can be used. In extremely cold weather conditions (-23°(/-10° F), the propane in the cylinder may not vapourize as quickly as required, thus the gauge will read in or about the yellow zone.

HANDY HINTS

  • Before starting, make sure all gas controller ON/OFF knobs are turned off on the appliance, then turn on the gas supply.
