EXTENSION CORDS

A short power-supply cord is to be provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Longer extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If a long extension cord is used:

  • The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great
  • The longer cord should be arranged so that it does not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.

POLARIZED PLUG

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

BEFORE FIRST USE

  • Remove all packaging materials, labels, and/or stickers from your appliance.
  • Check package contents for completeness and damage. Do not operate the appliance if package content is incomplete or appears damaged. Return it immediately to the dealer.

CAUTION: Danger of suffocation! Packaging materials are not toys. Always keep plastic bags, foils, and Styrofoam parts away from babies and children. Packaging material could block the nose and mouth and prevent breathing.

NOTE: Always use the appliance fully assembled. See the HOW TO OPERATE YOUR COFFEE MAKER section.

NOTE: The appliance may produce an odor and emit smoke when switched on for the first time, as residues from the production process are eliminated. This is normal and does not indicate a defect or hazard.

  • When using the appliance for the first time, it is recommended to operate it for at least 2 full cycles without ground coffee. See the HOW TO OPERATE YOUR COFFEE MAKER section.

CAUTION: During operation, the appliance produces hot steam. Keep clear of the top of the appliance.

  • Let the appliance cool down completely.
  • Clean the appliance. See the CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE section.

HOW TO OPERATE YOUR COFFEE MAKER

NOTE: The appliance has a rated power of 700W. Before plugging it into the wall outlet, ensure that the electrical circuit is not overloaded with other appliances. This

CAUTION: Never leave the appliance unattended during operation.

  • Place the appliance on a clean, flat and stable surface.
  • Open the lid (1) and place the filter basket (12) in the filter housing (9) (fig. a).

NOTE: Ensure the filter basket (12) is correctly aligned with the filter housing (9).

  • Place a suitable paper filter in the filter basket (12) (fig. b).
  • Add the required amount of ground coffee into the paper filter (fig. c). Do notN overfill it.

NOTE: Depending on the number of cups required to be brewed, the amount of ground coffee has to be adjusted. As a general guideline, use one scoop of ground coffee (approx. 5 grams) per cup.

  • Fill the carafe (8) with the required amount of fresh water. The water level can be checked using the water level indicator on the carafe (8) (fig. d).
  • Pour the water into the water tank (3) using the carafe (8). The water level in the water tank (3) can be checked using the water level indicator (10) on the water tank (3) (fig. e).
  • Close the lid (1) (fig. f).
  • Place the carafe (8) on the warming plate (7) (fig. g).

NOTE: Ensure the appliance is assembled correctly and completely.

  • Connect the plug (4) to a suitable wall outlet (fig. h).
  • Place the I/0 button (6) in the position I to switch the appliance on (fig. i). The button will illuminate.

NOTE: During the brewing process, the carafe (8) can be removed from the warming plate (7) for a short period of time (<30 sec.) to pour coffee because of the drip stop (11). Do not remove the carafe (8) for longer periods of time (>30 sec.), as the filter basket (12) can overflow and cause injuries (fig. j).

CAUTION: During operation, the warming plate (7) will start to heat up until the appliance is switched off manually. Never touch the warming plate (7) during use or remove accessories when the appliance is plugged in and switched on (fig. k).

CAUTION: Never use the appliance with the lid (1) open (fig. 1).

  • Once the brewing process has finished the coffee is kept warm using the warming plate (7) until the appliance is switched off via the I/0 button (6).
  • After use, switch the appliance off by placing the I/0 button (6) in the 0 position (fig. m).
  • Disconnect the appliance from the mains (fig. n) and allow to cool down completely.
  • Clean the appliance. See CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE section.
  • To disassemble, follow the above steps in reverse order.

HINTS AND TIPS

  • As a general rule, one scoop of ground coffee equals one cup.
  • During operation, it is recommended not to place appliance under kitchen cabinets, as rising steam can cause damage to wooden cabinetwork.
  • Regularly clean the appliance as specified in the CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE section.
  • Store unused ground coffee in a cool, dry place. After opening a package of ground coffee, reseal it tightly and store it in a refrigerator to maintain its freshness.

CLEANING

Proper maintenance will ensure many years of service from your appliance. Clean  the appliance after every use. The appliance contains no user serviceable parts andrequires little maintenance. Leave any servicing or repairs to qualified personnel.

CAUTION: Disconnect the plug (4) from the wall outlet. Allow all parts of the appliance to cool down completely.

NOTE: Do not immerse the power cord with plug (4) and appliance into water or any other liquid. Do not use abrasive cleaners, steel wool or scouring pads (ill. o). Dry all parts thoroughly after cleaning, before using or storing the appliance. Ensure that no water enters the appliance housing.

  • Clean the appliance and warming plate (7) with a clean, slightly damp cloth.
  • Clean the carafe (8) and filter basket (12) in hot, soapy water. The carafe (8) and filter basket (12) are also dishwasher safe.
  • To remove stains from the carafe (8), fill with hot water and add baking soda or mild cleaning agent. For stubborn stains, leave to soak overnight.
  • Clean all parts of the appliance after each use.

NOTE: Dry all parts and surfaces thoroughly before use. Make sure that all parts’ surface are completely dry before connecting the appliance to a wall outlet.

  • Fill the water tank (3) with a vinegar and water mixture (½ vinegar and ½ water) or a descaling product.
  • Place the carafe (8) on the warming plate (7).
  • Place the I/0 button (6) in the I position.
  • Once finished, switch the appliance off and discard of the vinegar and water mixture in the carafe (8).
  • Refill the water tank (3) with water and run the appliance with no ground coffee.

NOTE: It is recommended to deep clean the appliance every 60 cycles following the steps above. It is recommended to deep clean the appliance more frequently, if the water hardness level in your area is high.

STORAGE

  • Before storage, always make sure the appliance is completely cool, clean and dry.
  • It is recommended to store the appliance in a dry place.
  • Store the power cord (4) in the cord storage (5) of the appliance.
  • Store the appliance on a stable shelf or in a cupboard, preferably in its original packaging. To avoid accidents, ensure that both the appliance and its power cord (4) are beyond reach of children or pets.
