  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the table or counter.
  • The blade is sharp. Handle carefully.
  • Do not open the cover until the blades stop.
  • Keep hands and utensils away from moving blades while chopping food to prevent the possibility of severe personal injury or damage to the food chopper. A scraper may be used but must be used only when the food chopper is not running.
  • To reduce the risk of injury, never place the cutting blade on the base without first putting the bowl properly in place.
  • Be certain the cover is locked securely in place before operating the appliance.
  • Do not attempt to defeat the cover interlock mechanism.
  • Do not use the appliance for other than intended use.
  • Do not let the cord contact the hot surface, including the stove.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

POLARIZED PLUG (120V models only)

  • This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician.
  • Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

TAMPER-RESISTANT SCREW

  • Warning: This appliance is equipped with a tamper-resistant screw to prevent removal of the outer cover. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not attempt to remove the outer cover. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Repair should be done only by authorized service personnel.

ELECTRICAL CORD

  • A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
  • Extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
  • If an extension cord is used:
  • The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance; and
  • The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

GETTING STARTED

  • Remove all packing material, any stickers, and plastic bands around the power plug.
  • Remove and save literature.
  • Please go to www.prodprotect.com/blackanddecker to register your warranty.
  • Wash all removable parts. Caution: Do not plug the chopper into the outlet until fully assembled.

HOW TO USE

  • Place the bowl onto the base, fitting the tabs on the base of the bowl into the slots on the base.

  • Place the blade assembly into the bowl, over the center shaft. Rotate the blade until it rests on the bottom of the bowl.

  • Place food to be processed in the bowl. Fit the lid on the bowl, making sure the seal is secure. Once assembled, plug the chopper into an outlet.

  • Press the textured area on the tab to pulse. Do not remove the cover until the blade has stopped running.

  • Lift the cover from the bowl. Lift the bowl from the base. Carefully remove the blade assembly.

NOTES:

  • Before first use, wash the lid, bowl, and blade in hot, soapy water or in the dishwasher (top rack only).
  • Use the chopper with a pulsing action. Avoid running the motor continuously for periods over 1 minute. The longer the continuous pulse, the finer the texture. For coarsely chopped foods, use short pulses.
  • To slowly add liquids, use the oil holes on the top of the cover.

CAUTION: Blade is sharp; handle carefully.

CLEANING

  • Wash bowl, lid, and blade assembly with hot, soapy water or in the dishwasher (top rack only).
  • Wipe the base clean with a damp cloth or sponge. Do not immerse the base in water.

Note: Always unplug the chopper before assembling, disassembling, and cleaning.
