Operating Instructions

Step 1: Centering the Hold-down Bar

Place the hold-down bar over the liner, ensuring it is centered. Refer to Figure 1 for visual guidance.

Step 2: Tightening the Bolts

Tighten the bolts evenly to secure the hold-down bar. For Cummins applications, use the provided Item #5 cap screws. CAUTION: Do NOT exceed 50 ft. lbs to prevent equipment damage.

Note for Detroit Engines:

If the liner is beneath the block surface on Detroit engines, adjust the two spacers to the correct bore diameter before bolting the hold-down bar to the block surface. Refer to Figure 2 for reference.

Step 3: Zeroing the Indicator

Place the gauge bar on the cylinder block and dial the block surface to zero on the indicator. See Figure 3 for visual reference.

Step 4: Measuring Liner Protrusion

Move the gauge block to the liner and measure the protrusion at four equidistant points. Refer to Figure 4 for proper measurement locations.

Step 5: Checking Manufacturer’s Specifications

Refer to the manufacturer’s specifications to determine the correct liner protrusion for your specific application.

FAQ

Q: What should I do if the liner is beneath the block surface on Detroit engines?

A: Adjust the two spacers to the correct bore diameter before bolting the hold-down bar to the block surface. Refer to Figure 2 for reference.

Q: What is the maximum torque limit for tightening the bolts?

A: Do NOT exceed 50 ft. lbs to prevent equipment damage.

Operating Instructions

  1. Center the hold-down bar over the liner. See Figure 1.
  2. Tighten bolts evenly. (Item #5 cap screws are supplied for Cummins applications.) CAUTION: To prevent equipment damage, do NOT exceed 50 ft. lbs.
    Note: On Detroit engines where the liner is beneath the block surface, adjust the two spacers to the correct bore diameter before bolting the hold-down bar to the block surface. See Figure 2.

  1. Place the gauge bar on the cylinder block,and dial the block surface to zero on the indicator. See Figure 3.

  1. Move the gauge block to the liner, and measure the protrusion at four equidistant points. See Figure 4.
  2. Refer to the manufacturer’s specification for correct liner protrusion.
