- Do not attempt repairs. There are no user serviceable parts.
- Do not deactivate safety systems and remove explanatory and hazard labels.
- Do not use this product around explosive gases, vapors, or in damp or wet environments.
Take special precautions when working on scaffolding or heights, for example while using a ladder. Use the right type of ladder and ensure it is structurally sound. Use the ladder in accordance with the manufacturer’s instruction.
- Never aim a laser beam at any aircraft. The laser beam can distract or flash blind pilots. The laser beam continues to travel even if the light is no longer visible.
- Ensure adequate safeguards, for example reflective safety vest, at the surveying site (e.g. when measuring on roads, construction sites, etc.).
- Store the product out of reach of children.
Laser Warnings
Risk of injury! Looking directly into the beam with optical aids (e.g. binoculars, telescopes) can be hazardous.
Risk of injury! Never look into the laser beam and never point it at people or animals. Laser radiation can seriously damage your eyes.
If operation settings or procedures other than those described in these instructions are used, it could lead to exposure to dangerous radiation.
- This device produces a visible laser beam which is emitted from the front of the product.
- Do not stare into the laser beam or direct it towards other people.
- Blinding by laser radiation can indirectly lead to serious accidents, especially for people who are driving a vehicle or operating machinery.
- When operating the laser equipment, always make sure that the laser beam is directed so that no one is in the projection area and that unintentionally reflected beams (e.g. from reflective objects) cannot be directed into areas where people are present.
- Laser beam can be dangerous, if the laser beam or its reflection enters unprotected eyes. Always familiarize yourself with statutory regulations and operating instructions before using laser equipment.
- If laser radiation enters your eyes, close your eyes immediately and move your head away from the beam.
- If your eyes have been irritated by laser radiation, do not continue to carry out tasks with safety implications, such as working with machines, working from great heights or close to high voltage. Also, do not operate any vehicles until the irritation has completely subsided.
Battery Warnings
- Always insert batteries correctly with regards to polarity (+and-) marked on the battery and the product.
- Do not mix old and new batteries or batteries of different types or brands.
- Exhausted batteries should be immediately removed from product and properly disposed.
- Keep batteries out of the reach of children.
- Do not dispose of batteries in fire.

- The distance of the function is displayed in the summary line.
Moving the meter horizontally between readings will effect measurement results.
Indirect Measurement – Determining a Distance
Using 3 Measurements
- Press the button twice. The display shows The distance to be measured flashes in the symbol.
- Aim at the lower point (1) and trigger the measurement. After the first measurement, the value is saved. Keep the product aligned horizontally between the first, second and third measurement.
- Press the button to measure the distance result of the horizontal point (2).
- Press the button to measure the distance result of the upper point (3). The result of the measurement is displayed in the summary line.
Moving the meter horizontally between readings will effect measurement results.
- Press the button 3 times. The display shows The distance to be measured flashes in the symbol.
- Keep the product aligned horizontally between the first, second and third measurement and press the button to trigger the measurement.
- Press the button to measure the distance of the middle point (2).
- Press the button to measure the distance of the upper point (3). The result of the function is displayed in the summary line.
Moving the meter horizontally between readings will effect measurement results.
Logbook
Press the button to open the logbook. The previous 99 records (measurements or
calculated results) are shown in reverse order.
Use the or button to navigate through these records.
Press and hold the and button simultaneously to clear all records from the
logbook.
Timer (self-triggering)
-
Press the button to set a 5-second time delay. Use the
buttons to change the timer one second at a time, or press and hold the buttons to make rapid changes.
The measurement will be made when the timer reaches 0. -
2 seconds before the measurement is taken the laser will flash and beep faster.
-
To cancel the timer, press the button.
Stake out function
The stake out function can be used to repeatedly measures a defined length (distance). Two lengths (A, and B) can be registered and then transferred to a surface. For example to enable material to be cut into pieces of equal lengths or to install stud walls in a drywall construction.
Entering stake out distances
- Press and hold the button. The stake out function symbol appears on the display. The distance A flashes on the display.
- Use the buttons to adjust the values (first A and then B). Press and hold the buttons to speed up increasing/decreasing the values.
- Once distance A is set, confirm it by pressing the button.
- Now set the distance B and confirm by pressing the button.
- Press the button to start the measurement. Slowly move the meter along the stake out line away from the starting point. The defined length and the current measured value are shown on the display. The meter starts to beep at a distance of 0.33 ft (0.1 m) from the next stake out point.
- The arrows on the display indicate in which direction the product needs to be moved in order to achieve the defined distance (either A or B). As soon as the stake out point is reached, the beep changes and the intermediate line starts to flash.
- The function can be stopped at any time by pressing the or button.
Tilt Measurement
The inclination sensor measures tilts between ± 90°. During tilt measurement, the product should be held without a transverse tilt (± 10°).
- Press the button once to activate the tilt sensor.
- The display shows The tilt value is displayed in the intermediate line 1 .
- Press the O button to measure the inclination and the distance.
- The distance (L) is displayed in the summary line. The distance (A) (B) calculated by a and L is displayed in intermediate lines 2 and 3.
Measuring Conditions
Measuring Range
- The range is limited to that listed under technical specifications.
- At night or dusk and if the target is in shadow, the measuring range without a target plate is increased. Use a target plate to increase the measurement range during daylight or if the target has poor reflection properties.
Target Surfaces
- Measuring errors can occur when measuring toward colorless liquids (e.g. water) or dust-free glass, polystyrene or similar semi-permeable surfaces. Aiming at high gloss surfaces may deflect the laser beam and lead to measurement errors.
- Measuring against non-reflective and dark surfaces may increase the measuring time.
Tripod Installation
This product can be installed on a tripod with a standard 1/4″ screw mount.
Always place the tripod on a flat and stable surface to prevent it from tipping over.

*Use a target plate to increase the measurement range during daylight or if the target has poor reflection properties **For measurements under favorable conditions (e.g., the surface of the measured object has good reflectivity, or indoor temperatures are suitable), precision can be achieved for measurement distances of up to 33 ft (1 0 m). Measurements under unsuitable conditions (e.g., intense sunlight, poor surface reflectivity of the object being measured, or being in environments with large temperature changes), deviation will increase cumulatively by about ± 0.0018 in/ft (± 0.15 mm/m) if the measurement distances are above 33 ft (10 m).
