Circulation Pump Replacement Kits

Remove Old Circulation Pump

1. Remove power to the spa.
2. Wrap a shop rag around the existing circulation pump head inlet and outlet hoses 2-3″ above the existing barb fitting connection as illustrated (Fig. A). Clamp a pair of Vice-Grip jaws over each wrapped hose locations (X) to cut-off water flow (this action prevents the spa from gravity draining after pump removal). Note: The appearance of the old circulation pump may vary.
3. Disconnect the old circulation pump power cable from the circuit board power posts or terminal blocks and remove cable from spa load box.
4. Loosen and slide the existing hose clamp away from the pump head onto the hose at each clamped location using a pair of standard pliers or a standard screwdriver depending on clamp type, then disconnect each hose end from the pump head. Finally, remove the mounting screws, then remove the old circulation pump from the spa equipment bay.

Install New Circulation Pump

The circulation pumps in this kit varies in size and shape from our older models. For this reason, it may be necessary to install the new pump in a loca­tion that differs from the old circulation pump. You may also need to adjust the new pump head inlet/outlet position and motor/power cable angle to achieve the best fit for the serviced spa.

1. Test fit the new circulation pump in the equipment bay to determine the best mounting position while taking notes for the best inlet/outlet head angle and motor/power cable position for the new pump.

2. Loosen and remove the four pump head/motor mounting bracket screws located on the back side of the new circulation pump head as illustrated
   (Fig. B). Note: Two of these screws hold the motor bracket in place. Adjust the new circulation pump head outlet angle and motor/power cable position for the positions recorded in step 1. Finally, reinstall and tighten the four pump head/motor bracket screws to secure the pump head and mounting bracket in place.

3. Mount the new circulation pump in the new mounting location selected in step 1 using the two wood screws provided in this kit.

4. Lengthen the previously clamped hose running from the spa heater to the old circulation pump’s outlet fitting (as required) so that it reaches the new pump head outlet fitting without kinking or binding. Use the 3/4 clear hose, barbed adapter, barbed elbow, and clamps provided in this kit as required (do not remove the Vice-grip Pliers and shop rag installed during the removal process). Finally, clamp this hose to the new pump’s outlet fitting using an existing hose clamp or a clamp from this kit.

5. Lengthen the previously clamped hose running from the spa filter bay to the old circulation pump inlet fitting (as required) so that it reaches the new pump head inlet fitting without kinking or binding. Use the 3/4 clear hose, barbed adapter, barbed elbow, and clamps provided in this kit as required (do not remove the Vice-grip Pliers and shop rag installed during the removal process). Finally, clamp this hose to the new pump’s inlet fitting using an existing hose clamp or a clamp from this kit.

6. Remove the Vice-Grip Pliers and shop rags previously installed during the removal procedure (page 1) from the new circulation pump’s inlet and outlet hose connections. Inspect all hose connections for leaks
   (repair any leaks before proceeding).

7. Route the new circulation pump power cable into the spa load box, then connect it to the circuit board power posts or terminal blocks used by the old circulation pump. Finally, connect the new circulation pump’s bonding lug to the bonding lug located on the outside of the spa load box using the #6 bare copper wire provided in this kit. IMPORTANT: A Bonding wire must be installed per the National Electric Code regulations, section 422-20 USA/ANSI/NFPA 70.

8. Turn power back on to spa and verify the new circulation pump running and pumping water. If the pump is running but not pumping water, perform the following steps to prime the pump:

   • Turn off power to the spa.
   • Partially remove the output hose from the new circulation pump outlet fitting just enough to allow trapped air to escape from the pump head, then reinstall the hose and clamp it in place.
   • Turn power to the spa back on and verify the new circulation pump running and moving water. Repeat this step until proper water flow is established.

9. To complete this installation procedure, test all spa functions for proper operation before leaving the work site.
