Instructions for using your Trelino®
Assembly: Our composting toilets can be used mobile as well as permanently installed. For mounting, it may be necessary to drill into the material. In case of a permanent installation, please make sure that the toilet has a firm stand, is sufficiently secured during travel, and cannot fall over.
First steps: The Trelino composting toilet is a toilet for mobile use and is delivered already pre-assembled. Please take care that the bucket and canister are in place after transport and make sure that the odor trap is still fixed in the lid and has not slipped into the urine canister.
Let‘s go:
Use and care
Open the lid, take out the separator insert, and position the solids container
and the canister properly in the body. Before first use, line the container
with a (compostable) garbage bag and optionally place two handfuls of litter
inside. Now your Trelino® is ready for use. Dispose of used toilet paper in
the solid waste container. After the big business, spread litter over the
fresh poop to faciliate the drying process and prevent the formation of
unpleasant odors.
Only use Trelino® in a seated position.
Good to know
- We recommend the use of one of the following litter materials to achieve the best results and maximize the drying process: Coconut coir bricks, fine wood shavings (e.g. Aspen Bedding), saw dust, organic peat moss, peat and hemp mixes, or pressed wood pellets.
- Check the fill level of the urine canister and solids container at regular intervals to prevent overflowing.
- Only use the solids container with a garbage bag for hygienic emptying.
- Observe the maximum load of 330 lbs.
- The membrane in the open lid of the urine canister serves as spill and odor protection and should always be used.
Emptying instructions
When the container is full, remove the bag, close it tightly, and dispose of the solids in the household waste. If compostable toilet paper is used, conventional composting is also possible. Empty the urine canister in a toilet connected to the sewage system. We recommend that you inform yourself about the local disposal regulations.
Cleaning
We recommend vinegar concentrate diluted with water (1:7) for cleaning the
separator insert, solids container, and canister. Rinse the urine canister
with the solution after each emptying to prevent the formation of urine scale
and unpleasant odors. For particularly stubborn deposits, vinegar concentrate
can also be used pure. Cleaning with pure water is not recommended, as this
can cause the formation of odors and urine scale. After cleaning, allow the
urine canister to dry thoroughly. The separating insert can be wiped with
toilet paper after each use of the toilet to prevent urine residues. For
simple, natural cleaning of all individual parts of the separation toilet, ph-
neutral
Good to know
- Do not use chemical cleaners or sharp-edged objects on the surfaces such as solvents, scouring agents, milk/sponges, etc.
- Empty the urine canister regularly (after 3 – 4 days at the latest)
- Warm temperatures accelerate the decomposition process of compostable garbage bags. Ensure regular emptying
- Containers and accessories are not suitable for the dishwasher or washing machine and must not be placed in running water

FAQS
Things to know about No.1 & No. 2
Can I dispose of hygiene products in the solids bin?
No. As with conventional toilets, tampons, pads, diapers and the like do not
belong in the potty but separately in the household waste.
If I use some toilet paper for cleaning after doing No. 1 and throw it in
the solids bin, do I have to use some litter as well?
Yes. The paper is damp after use. In order to keep your leftovers in the solid
waste container in dry wipes, cover the toilet paper with a handful of litter.
Can I use my separate toilet even if I have diarrhea?
Don‘t worry. Your Trelino® can handle it! If the business turns out to be more
liquid, simply use more litter to optimize the drying process. !!
How do I find the optimal seating position?
The key here is: the proof of the pudding is in the eating! You can optimize
your sitting position by leaning forward and backward and changing the angle
of your legs. A little tip: The more upright your posture, the better your
aim.
