Product Information

The product is Stella 5.07 Software, which requires a software update/installation. The software files can be downloaded from a link provided. In order to create a new Stella Epic USB Key, a name brand USB drive with a capacity of 8GB or smaller should be used. Only the ‘UNIC’ folder should be installed on the USB drive. The USB drive needs to be formatted before installing the software. The software files are contained within the ‘UNIC’ folder, which should be copied/pasted into the USB drive folder. Before removing the USB drive from the computer, it is important to right-click on the USB drive and select ‘Eject’.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Create a new Technicians USB using the provided instructions.
  2. Insert the Technician Stick into the device and wait for the Upgrade screen to appear.
  3. Deselect the ‘calibrate’ option immediately.
  4. Select ‘BTA’.
  5. Press ‘Upgrade’, confirm the upgrade, and wait for the upgrade screen to return.
  6. Again, deselect the ‘calibrate’ option immediately.
  7. Select ‘CPU’ and ‘BGX’. If ‘BGX’ is grayed out, it means that the upgrade is not possible, and technical support should be contacted.
  8. Press ‘Upgrade’, confirm the upgrade, and wait for on-screen instructions to remove the USB and reset.
  9. Ignore any alarms and plug the USB stick into the SDC USB port, then wait for the upgrade screen to appear.
  10. Immediately cancel to access the main screen with level 4 access.
  11. Reset CIM settings as described in the next section.

Resetting CIM after Power Outage or Software Upgrade:

In case of a fault code 98-99 Group 3 and/or 4 failure, the CIM (Customer Interface Module) needs to be reset. The following steps should be followed:

  1. Insert the USB key into the powered machine.
  2. Press ‘Cancel’ as soon as the upgrade screen appears (within a 30-second timer).
  3. Select ‘Maintenance’.
  4. Select ‘CIM’.
  5. Select ‘CIM Setup’.
  6. Configure CIM settings as shown in the provided photo (for 3 group machines, set BC3 to 2C).
  7. Press the check mark to confirm.
  8. Remove the USB key.
  9. Switch OFF and ON the machine.

Stella SOFTWARE UPDATE/INSTALL

SECTION A: Create a new Stella Epic USB Key.

  • IMPORTANT: Use a name brand USB drive 8gb or smaller Install only the ‘UNIC” folder on the USB.UNIC-Coffee-Star-Stella-Software-Update-Install-FIG-1
  • Install USB drive to computer and locate drive in file folder
  • Right-click drive and select Format
  • Assign FAT32 as the filing system
  • Name volume label “Stella” if desired.
  • Select Quick Format
  • Start format and close window when format is complete

  • Click Download now UNIC-Coffee-Star-Stella-Software-Update-Install-FIG-4
  • Open Downloads and formatted USB drive file folders in two separate windows UNIC-Coffee-Star-Stella-Software-Update-Install-FIG-5
  • Double-click Stella Software… folder to find enclosed UNIC folder containing new software files
  • Drag/drop (copy/paste) UNIC folder into USB drive folder UNIC-Coffee-Star-Stella-Software-Update-Install-FIG-6
  • Right-click USB drive and select Eject before removing USB drive from computer

Stella Di Café Upgrade Software

  1. Create a new Technicians USB (See Instructions)
  2. Insert Technician Stick and wait for Upgrade screen.
  3. Immediately deselect calibrate.
  4. Select BTA.
  5. Press Upgrade, Confirm Upgrade and then wait for upgrade screen to return.
  6. Immediately deselect calibrate.
  7. Select CPU and BGX. > if BGX is grayed out upgrade is not possible contact Technical Support

  9. Ignore Alarm and Plug USB stick into SDC USB port wait for upgrade screen to appear.
  10. Immediately Cancel to get the main screen with level 4 access.
  11. Reset CIM settings; See next Section

  7. Press check mark to confirm
  8. Remove USB key
  9. Switch OFF and ON
