Sensata INSIGHTS KP2 Video Telematics Camera

Product Information

The KP2 Video Telematics Camera is a comprehensive video telematics solution that provides real-time recording and monitoring capabilities for vehicles. It includes a camera, mounting bracket, adhesive tape, alcohol pads, clips, and an optional OBDII Data Adapter Cable. The camera is designed to be installed on the vehicle’s windscreen to capture video footage of the road and driver.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Review the package contents to ensure everything is included.
  2. Scan the QR code inside the box to access a detailed installation video, spec sheet, and user guide.
  3. Watch the installation video and refer to the proper camera installation guidelines.
  4. Clean the vehicle’s windscreen using a wipe and allow it to dry.
  5. Remove the backing from the mounting bracket and press it evenly against the glass, ensuring the adhesive is flush. Hold it in place for 30 seconds
  6. Apply cable clips to the windscreen and slide the bracket power cable into the clips.
  7. Tuck the cable behind the weather stripping and secure it by pushing the stripping in.
  8. Connect the terminal at the end of the bracket cable to the smaller end of the optional OBDII adapter cable (if available).
  9. Plug the other end of the OBDII adapter cable into the vehicle’s OBDII port. Ensure that the vehicle is on a flat surface for G-sensor and device calibration.
  10. Turn on the vehicle and check that the blue and green lights remain on after 5 minutes. If not, press the small black button for 3 seconds to perform G-sensor calibration (confirmed by a beep).
  11. Scan the QR code provided and download the iOS or Android KP2 installation app.
  12. Open the KP2 installation app and scan the IMEI code on the box’s label. Follow the device configuration prompts.
  13. Ensure that the IMEI code in the app matches your device’s IMEI. If not, contact Sensata INSIGHTS support.
  14. Read the instructions to understand more about your vehicle’s Horizon and Hood lines. Watch a brief video walk-through of the device attachment process if needed.
  15. Select your KP2 camera configuration, choosing the driver’s side of the vehicle. Select the power connection type used during installation.
  16. Set your vehicle’s Horizon and Hood lines by adjusting the camera images using the arrows. Ensure that the Hood line is in the bottom one-fourth of the image.
  17. Choose preferences for in-cabin alerts, volume level, and activation of different ADAS and DSM events.
  18. If unsure about a setting’s function, tap the info icon for more information. Pay attention to Camera Height and enter an even interval value.
  19. After making changes and activating the desired features, tap Confirm to save your configuration.

Installation

  1. Review the package contents.

  3. Watch the installation video.
    Refer to proper camera installation guidelines here.

  4. Use wipe to clean the window. Allow time to dry. To determine compliant device placement, check local regulations.Sensata-INSIGHTS-KP2-Video-Telematics-Camera-FIG.4

  5. Remove backing. Press evenly to ensure the mounting bracket’s adhesive is flush against the glass.
    Hold to window for 30 seconds.

  6. Remove adhesive and apply cable clips to windscreen. Slide the bracket power cable into clips.Sensata-INSIGHTS-KP2-Video-Telematics-Camera-FIG.5

  7. Tuck cable behind weather stripping, and push stripping in to secure it.

  8. At the end of the bracket cable (A), connect the terminal to the smaller end of the adapter cable (F).Sensata-INSIGHTS-KP2-Video-Telematics-Camera-FIG.6

  9. Plug end of OBDII adapter cable into vehicle’s OBDII port. Ensure vehicle is on a flat surface for G-sensor and device calibration.

  10. Turn on vehicle. Check that blue and green lights remain on after 5 minutes. If not, an error occurred. Press small, black button for  3 seconds. A beep confirmsG-sensor calibration.Sensata-INSIGHTS-KP2-Video-Telematics-Camera-FIG.7

  11. Scan the QR code above, and download the iOS or Android KP2installation app.

  12. Open the KP2 installation app, and scan the IMEI code on the box’s label.
    Follow the device configuration prompts.

  13. Ensure the IMEI code in the app matches your device’s IMEI. If there isn’t a match, tap No and contact Sensata INSIGHTS support. If there’s a match, tap Yes to continue.Sensata-INSIGHTS-KP2-Video-Telematics-Camera-FIG.9

  14. Read the instructions to understand more about your vehicle’s “Horizon” and “Hood” lines. Tap Show Me How for a brief video walk-through of the device attachment process.

  15. Select your KP2 camera configuration. Choose the driver’s side of the vehicle. Tap Next to select your power connection type.Sensata-INSIGHTS-KP2-Video-Telematics-Camera-FIG.10

  16. Select the power adapter cable you used during installation to connect your device to the vehicle. Tap Next to set your vehicle’s “Horizon” and “Hood” lines.

  17. If you adjust either camera, tap Refresh Images to update road- and driver-facing camera images. Use the arrows to adjust your vehicle’s “Horizon” and “Hood” lines. Ensure your “Hood” line is in the bottom one-fourth of your image. Scroll down and tap Next to save the “Horizon” and“Hood” lines.Sensata-INSIGHTS-KP2-Video-Telematics-Camera-FIG.11

  18. Choose preferences for in-cabin alerts, an alert’s volume  level or activation of differentADAS and DSM events.Sensata-INSIGHTS-KP2-Video-Telematics-Camera-FIG.12

  19. If you’re unaware of a setting’s function, tap the info icon to learn more. Pay close attention to Camera Height. Enter an even interval value (e.g., 190 cm), not an odd interval value (e.g., 205 cm, 213 cm).

  21. On the home screen, you’ll see a success message validating your saved configuration.
