Remove Water from Tank
a) Turn off water supply.| b) Mark water level (M) with pencil when original
flapper closes.
---|---
|
c) Flush & hold to drain water. Place bucket. Disconnect water supply line.|
d) Remove nuts, washers & bolts.
|
Remove the Old Flush Valve
a). Lift tank off bowl.
b). Remove sponge gasket. Remove mounting nut (MN) with wrench. Remove valve and hardware
Note: New sponge gasket may look different but will replace virtually all shapes and thicknesses
c) Install new flush valve. Rubber seal (RS) inside, chipboard washer (CW) on
underside of tank.
Hand tighten mounting nut (MN).
Secure & Adjust the New Flush Valve
- Place sponge gasket (SG) over mounting nut (MN).
- Set tank on bowl. Gasket may be thicker than original, causing tank to sit higher and wobble before tightening. This is normal. Gasket designed to compress.
- Assemble Hardware. While applying downward pressure to tank to keep tank level (second person may be helpful), alternate tightening each hex nut with wrench until tank is stable & level. Do not continue tightening if tank & bowl touch. Do not overtighten as tank may crack.
Note: If tank has two bolt holes, a set of hardware will be left over
b) Loosen locknut (LN) then slide overflow tube (OT) up or down to adjust.
Attach Refill Tube
a) Overflow tube (OT) is 1/2″ above water line (WL) & at least 1″ below flush lever nut (FN). Hand tighten locknut (LN) when done.
b) Attach to overflow tube with S-clip. Trim tube if kink occurs.
c) Attach chain (C) to flush lever (FL) with minimal slack.
Reconnect Water Supply
a) Connect water supply line. Do not use sealant/tape. Hand-tighten only.
Note: We recommend replacing with a flexible supply line (pictured)
b) Turn water supply. Let tank fill completely.
c) Turn off water. Flush. If water level (WL) drops within 1/2″ of pencil mark (M), flapper install complete. If not, proceed to next step.
Fine-Tune Bowl Water Level
a) Rotate hole in band (B) to open position. Repeat process in steps 6b & 6c before proceeding to step 7b.
b) Rotate dial (D) to align next lowest number with arrow (A). Repeat process in steps 6b & 6c and adjust dial until setting allows water to drop within 1⁄2″ of pencil mark.
Note: For maximum water savings, adjust to lowest possible setting while still clearing the bowl.
Congratulations! You have overhauled your toilet tank! Flush toilet
several times and check for leaks within the next few days.
