Pulser Kit for Telrad Finder
Tetrad Pulser Installation
Remove the instrument’s cover allowing access to the battery compartment.
Remove existing battery holder by cutting wires close to the battery holder
leaving enough lead length to allow easy rewiring (discard existing battery
holder), strip approximately 3/8″ of insulation from the ends of the wires.
Drill holes through the housing as illustrated below (use a 9/32″ drill and a
3/32″ drill). After Willing check for and remove any burrs on the inside or
outside of the new holes. The illustration may be cut out and used as a
template if desired.
Remove the nut and washer from the potentiometer, position the wires on the
sides of the pulser unit. and, with the bottom (black side) of the circuit
board facing up in the open side of the Telrad, feed the shaft through the
larger hole then rotate the unit to align the locating lug with the smaller
hole.
Install the nut and washer and tighten until the potentiometer is pulled snug
to the inside surface: to avoid stripping the threads, do not over-tighten.
Put the open ended leads together with the remaining leads from the
instrument, red to red and black to black. and secure with the supplied wire
nuts, ensure that the connection is secure but do not over-tighten. For added
security the connection may be wrapped with electrical tape.
Push the newly connected wires down into the unit in such as way as to not
interfere with the new battery holder.
Install fresh batteries into the new battery holder (ensure that the batteries
are correctly seated in the holder), put the holder into the housing and route
the wires to avoid interference with the cover or other obstructions.
Replace the battery compartment cover. place the instrument on its side and
carefully press the control knob onto the potentiometer shaft, position the
indicator in the direction of your choice.
Your new pulser is easy to use, the original control will still regulate the
intensity or brightness of the reticle image and the new control will allow
you to adjust the pulse frequency.
The switch on the new control turns the power to the instrument on and off
and, to avoid battery drain, must be off when the instrument is not in use.
To provide a steady image, turn the pulser control fully clockwise, to provide
a pulsed image. adjust the control less than fully clockwise as desired.
To switch off, turn the control fully counter-clockwise until you feel the
click.
