DSP CFICGEN40 Salt Chlorine Generator
Product Information
The CFICGEN Cell is a salt chlorinator that helps maintain the cleanliness and salinity of your pool water. It provides various data readings and troubleshooting options to ensure optimal performance.
Troubleshooting Mode
To enter the troubleshooting mode, press both the + and – keys simultaneously. You will see the troubleshooting screen, displaying the following information:
- Cell’s current voltage (e.g., 049 indicates 4.9V)
- Cell’s current (e.g., +001 indicates +0.01A)
- Cell’s board temperature (e.g., 230 indicates 230°C)
- Pool’s salinity level (e.g., 4090 indicates 4090 PPM)
- Cumulative working time of the salt cell measured in hours
To return to the main page, press both the + and – keys simultaneously again or wait for a period of standby.
Error Display
When an error occurs with the cell, the cell’s data at the time of the error will be saved and displayed. The displayed information includes:
- Cell’s voltage
- Cell’s current
- Board’s temperature
- Pool water’s current temperature
- Current salinity level in the pool water
- Hours of cell runtime
SALTsys Screen
The SALTsys screen allows you to adjust the salinity coefficient for the salt cell. Use the + or – keys to modify the value and correct the salt concentration.
Changing Cell Model
To select a different cell model, navigate to the respective screen and press the + or – buttons to cycle through the available models. Note that CFPT-40G and CFPT-60G share the same control modules, while CFPT-20G requires a separate controller.
Testing Flow Switch
To test the flow switch, ensure that your water pump is turned on. The water flow indicator will flash for 3 minutes. If there has been continuous water flow for 3 minutes, the indicator will turn green. After turning off the water pump, the indicator should turn red within 5 seconds. If it doesn’t, check for proper installation and cleanliness of the flow switch
No Display Problem
If the controller has no display, check if the control module fuse is blown. If it is, replace the fuse
Non-operational Cell
If the cell is not operational, consider the following possibilities:
- If the pool water is too cold (<10°C), the Water Cold screen may appear. Ensure that the pool water temperature is above 10°C for the cell to work.
- If the pool water is too hot (>50°C), the Water Hot screen may appear. Ensure that the pool water temperature is below 50°C for the cell to work.
If neither of the above solutions resolves the issue, the temperature sensor may be faulty and require replacement.
Salt Low Prompt Screen
If the salt salinity of the salt chlorinator is more than 500ppm lower than the salt concentration reported by the water quality, a Salt Low screen will be displayed. Adjust the salt salinity on the salt chlorinator by referring to the “How to read the salinity coefficient” section.
How to enter the troubleshooting mode
To navigate to the troubleshooting screen press both the “+” and “-” keys at the same time. Once both buttons are pressed in you will enter the troubleshooting screen as shown below. If you press both the “+” and “-” keys at the same time once again it will return to the main page, or after a period of standby it will automatically return to the main page.
How to read the STATUS screen
- This is your cell’s current voltage. For example: 049 means that the voltage is 4.9V
- This is your cell’s current. For example: +001 means that the current is +0.01A
- This is your cell’s board temperature. For example: 230 means the temperature on the circuit board is 23.0°c.
- This is your water’s current temp. For example: 247 means the water temperature is 24.7°c
- This is your pool’s salinity level. For example: 4090 means that the salt salinity is 4090 PPM.
- This is cumulative working time of the salt cell measured in hours.
How to read an ERROR CODE –
When an error with the cell occurs, the cell’s data is saved and will display the status specs at the time the operational error is detected. (The flow error is not included).
- Is the cell’s voltage.
- Is the cell’s current.
- Is the Board’s temp.
- Is the pool water’s current temp.
- Is the current salinity level in the pool water.
- Are the hours of cell runtime.
How to read the salinity coefficient –
The SALTsys screen is the salinity coefficient for the salt cell, and the value can be adjusted by pressing the “+” or “-” key, so that the value of the salt concentration can be corrected; For example: the salt concentration reported by the water quality is 3000ppm, and the salt concentration displayed by the salt chlorine generator as 2700ppm. It needs to be lowered from 100 to 95. The adjustment method is: 60ppm(100-95) =+300ppm, 60 is the empirical coefficient, and +300 means to increase by 300ppm. After the adjustment, the salt concentration displayed by the salt chlorine generator will display about 3000ppm. For example: the salt concentration reported by the water quality is 2700ppm, and the salt concentration displayed by the salt chlorine generator as 3000ppm. It needs to be adjusted from 100 to 105. The adjustment method of experience value is: 60ppm(100-105) =-300ppm, and 60 is the experience coefficient. -300 is a downward adjustment of 300ppm. After adjustment, the salt concentration displayed by the salt chlorine generator will be about 3000ppm.
How to change the cell model –
When you reach this screen, you have the ability to change the cell model. To select a different model, you can press the “+” or “-” buttons to cycle through the different models available. CFPT-40G and CFPT-60G are the same control modules; CFPT-20G is a separate controller and the former two will not work.
Solutions to common issues –
Testing the flow switch
To test the flow switch please turn on your water pump. The water flow
indicator will flash for 3 minutes. If there has been water flow for 3 minutes
the water flow indicator will turn green. After the indicator is green turn
off the water pump, the water flow indicator will turn red within 5 seconds.
If the indicator doesn’t turn red you will need to check to ensure a proper
installation of the flow switch as well as ensuring the switch is clean.
The controller has no display problem
Check if the control module fuse is blown, if yes, then the fuse needs to be replaced.
The cell is not operational
- The “Water Cold” screen may appear when the weather is too cold. This means the pool water is below 10 ℃ and needs to be above 10 ℃ for the cell to work.
- The “Water Hot” screen may appear when the pool water temperature is too hot. This means the pool water is above 50 ℃ and needs to be below 50 ℃ for the cell to work.
The two issues listed above are common, and there is no problem with the salt chlorinator. If both solutions do not fix the issues listed above the temperature sensor maybe broken and will need to be replaced.
The “Salt Low” prompt screen
There is a “Salt Low” screen if the salt salinity of the salt chlorinator is
less than 500ppm lower than the salt concentration reported by the water
quality. In order to fix this common issue please adjust the salt salinity on
the salt chlorinator by following the “How to read the salinity coefficient”
section that is listed above.
