SUCCESS TIPS
Soil:
- Use a lightweight quality blend designed for elevated gardens containing peat moss, vermiculite or perlite. Planter is not designed to hold heavy topsoil, sand, clay, or rocks.
- As you add soil to the planter, wet the soil and mix. Ensure soil is evenly moist before adding plants.
- Planter soil capacity: 4.8 cu.ft. (136 L)
Funnel:
- To keep bobber working correctly, do not allow soil to enter the fill tube.
- Do not remove the fill tube/bobber after you have filled the planter with soil.
Watering:
- Maintaining water in the reservoir is critical. If extremely hot and sunny, check the reservoir frequently.
- Shallower root plants such as herbs may require additional watering from the top.
- Continue to water the top of the soil occasionally. This ensures even soil moisture and distribution of minerals.
- No need to be concerned about overwatering. Excess water will drain from the reservoir’s four overflow ports.
- After a fresh planting, water from above until the plants are well established.
- Planter can be used indoors or outdoors. However, if used indoors be aware of drainage from overflow ports.
Other Tips:
- Fertilizer: Add a dry granular mix several times throughout the season. Follow instructions on the fertilizer.
- Support: Vining fruits/vegetables will grow best when supported with cages or garden stakes.
- Sun: Select right location for plants to have 6-8 hours of sun per day. Excessive heat and sun can cause plants to sunburn, consider shade-cloth during extreme weather.
