Spatial orientation Ref. 20520

CONTENT:

The game comprises 36 cards made of thick, durable, very hard-wearing, high- quality card.
The cards contain large images with real-life scenarios showing fun-looking birds in opposing spatial positions.
The material is environment-friendly, comes from sustainable forests, consists of a high percentage of recycled material, and is 100% recyclable.

RECOMMENDED AGE GROUP:

Children aged 3 to 8.
The large size of the pieces makes this game ideal material for working on spatial orientation from an early age, and with children with learning difficulties. The inclusion of illustrations with fun-looking birds in real- life settings makes it especially attractive for learning the opposite spatial positions: in front-behind, inside-outside, above (on)-below (under), to (on) the right-to (on) the left, near-far, and together-apart.
Owing to its characteristics, the game is ideal for playing and learning spatial orientation both in the classroom and at home.

TEACHING OBJECTIVES:

  • Development of spatial orientation.
  •  Help with the learning of basic spatial concepts: in front-behind, inside-outside, above (on)-below (under), to (on) the right-to (on) the left, near-far, and together-separate.
  • Help establish spatial relationships between the position of an object in relation to one’s own body.
  • Exercise memory using real-life images.
  • Develop attention and observation skills.
  • Improve visual and spatial memory.
  • Expand vocabulary.

ACTIVITIES AND HOW TO PLAY:

FAMILIARIZE THE CHILDREN WITH THE IMAGES ON THE CARDS
Before starting to play, it is recommended to look at the images on the cards and see the differences in each pair of birds.
VOCABULARY AND SPATIAL ORIENTATION
Form pairs and describe the scenes and the opposite positions in which the birds appear:
– in front-behind
– inside-outside
– above (on)-below (under)
– to (on) the right-to (on) the left
– near-far
– together-apart
MEMORY
Place all the cards on the table face down. In turns, starting with the youngest player, turn two cards over. If they form a pair, i.e. the same bird in opposite positions, the player keeps the pair and turns over another two cards to try and find more pairs. If they do not form a pair, they place them face down again in the same place. Then it is the next player’s turn. The game finishes when there are no cards left on the table. Then, each player counts their cards and the one with the most pairs wins.
Form pairs of fun-looking birds in opposite spatial positions, and test your observation and memory skills!
LANGUAGE STRUCTURE
Form sentences related to the images that appear on the cards.
