FEATURES
The following is a list of characteristics that are typically present in remote control for a miniDSP:
-
Switching the Power:
A button that allows the user to turn the miniDSP device on and off is often included on the remote. -
Volume Control:
A great number of miniDSP devices either have amplifiers built directly into them or are designed to work in conjunction with external amplifiers. There is a possibility that the remote will feature buttons for controlling the volume of the output. -
Selecting Your Input:
If the miniDSP device supports a number of different inputs—for example, analog, digital, or USB—the remote control might feature buttons that let you choose whatever input source you want to use. -
Selection of the Output:
It’s possible that the remote will provide choices to select certain output channels or zones, which is useful for multi-zone setups and devices with various outputs. -
Function Control of the DSP:
It is possible that the remote will provide control of digital signal processing operations such as EQ adjustments, crossover settings, and time alignment. This will depend on the model of the miniDSP and the capabilities of the device. -
Adjusting the Presets:
If the miniDSP machine offers preset setups, the remote control could feature buttons that let you navigate through the available presets. -
Mute and by Yourself:
Buttons that can be used to muffle or solo individual outputs or channels. -
Controls for the Navigation System:
On the display of a miniDSP, one will typically find navigation buttons (such as arrows) in addition to an “OK” button that can be used to traverse menus and pick options. -
Numeric Keypad:
In some instances, a numeric keypad may be present in order to facilitate the direct input of particular settings or presets. -
Buttons for the Menu and the Setup:
in order to access and manage the menu and settings of the miniDSP. -
Learning Capability:
Certain miniDSP remotes have the ability to “learn” commands from other remotes, giving them the ability to control more components of the system.
PRECAUTIONS
-
Having a Direct View:
Infrared (IR) remote controls call for a direct line of sight to be maintained between the remote and the IR sensor of the device being controlled. To ensure that the remote and the miniDSP unit can communicate reliably with one another, clear any obstacles that may be in their path. -
Distance:
Check to see that you are operating the remote control from within the range that is recommended for its use. This range is typically anywhere from 5 to 10 meters, although it can go as high as 20 meters in some cases. -
Maintenance of the Battery:
It is important to check the remote control’s batteries on a regular basis and replace them if necessary. Low battery levels might cause unpredictable behavior as well as a reduction in range. -
Avoid Liquid Exposure:
To protect the internal components of the remote control from being harmed, you should keep it away from liquids and moisture. -
Stay Away From Hot Temperatures:
The components of the remote control are susceptible to damage if subjected to high temperatures. It should not be exposed to direct sunlight, heaters, or any other sources of heat. -
Take Extra Precautions:
Even though remote controls typically have a high level of durability, you should still take care not to drop or otherwise mishandle them. -
Proper Storage:
When not in use, the remote control should be kept in a location that is cool, dry, and shaded from both direct sunlight and humidity. -
Compatibility between the Remote and the Device:
Make sure that the miniDSP device you’re using can communicate with the remote control by checking its compatibility settings. If you use the incorrect remote, it’s possible the device won’t work or you’ll get unexpected results. -
Stay away from interference with direct infrared light:
It is best to steer clear of directing the remote controls of other electronic devices, such as a television or DVD player, directly at the miniDSP unit. Doing so may cause the device to malfunction. -
Cleaning:
If it’s necessary, wipe the surface of the remote control down with a dry, lint-free cloth. It is important to refrain from using any harsh chemicals or solvents that could potentially damage the device. -
Updates to the Firmware:
In the event that the remote control or miniDSP device enables firmware upgrades, check to see that you have the most recent version installed so that you may take advantage of any potential improvements or bug fixes.
