Type A equipment
Thank you for choosing the MTG-3000HR flammable gas detector. CAUTION: Before the first use, please read this user manual carefully, especially information on how to use it, the place of installation, and the operation of the device. The manual should be stored in a place that is easily accessible to any other user.
  Read carefully all notes preceded by this symbol.
The MTG-3000HR detector is designed to monitor rooms for the presence of natural gas (LNG), methane, propane, butane, or propane-butane (LPG) mixtures in living spaces. It is powered by a safe voltage of 12VDC via a 230V / 50Hz power supply, which is included in the package. The detector is designed for installation in areas without significant danger and is equipped with a catalytic combustion sensor, which does not require further calibration, designed to detect the presence of flammable gases around the sensor. Its purpose is NOT to detect the presence of heat, smoke, fire, carbon monoxide (CO), or other gases. The device was manufactured in accordance with the Czech and European standard ČSN-EN 50194. A certificate confirming compliance with the above-stated requirements was issued by an independent European research laboratory TUV SUD Product Service GmbH.

FIELD OF APPLICATION

Living spaces with kitchens equipped with gas stoves, domestic boiler rooms with appliances burning natural gas, propane-butane, or rooms in which gas appliances are located, such as gas bottles, tanks, gas pipes, garages for gas-powered cars, school chemical and physics workshops, and laboratories.
INSTALLATION IN CARAVANS, MOTORHOMES AND TRAILER COACHES, AND BOATS
When installing a flammable gas detector in caravans, motor homes, trailer coaches, and boats, it is necessary to keep in mind that commonly used washing and laundry detergents, polishes, and detergents based on paraffin and gasoline fumes can affect the proper operation of the sensor.
For this reason, the detector must be installed as far away from these materials or places where they may occur.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION – PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF GASES: METHANE, NATURAL GAS, LNG
Methane (natural gas) – is the main component of natural gas. Odorless, colorless, flammable gas. It burns with a colorless flame. It forms explosive mixtures together with air. It is twice as light as air. It accumulates at the top of the room.
PROPANE, BUTANE, PROPANE-BUTANE, LPG
Propane (propane-butane mixture) – is a colorless, extremely flammable gas with a characteristic odor. It forms explosive mixtures with air. It is heavier than air. It accumulates near the surface in the lower parts of the room.

PLACE OF INSTALLATION

This flammable gas detector is designed for wall installation indoors, where air temperature does not fall below -10 ° C and does not exceed + 40 ° C at a relative humidity of up to 95% RH. Location selection for the installation depends on the type of gas that the sensor is intended to detect. It is important that the warning signal is heard especially in bedrooms and other rooms when the alarm is triggered.
ATTENTION!: The flammable gas detector must be installed by a competent person.

For gases lighter than air (natural gas, methane, LNG) , the detector should be installed approximately 15-30 cm from the ceiling and a maximum of 6 m from the potential source of gas leakage (see fig. 1). The position for installing the detector must be located at a higher height than the highest point of an open window or door is located.
For gases heavier than air (propane, butane, and their mixtures, LPG) , the detector should be installed approximately 15-30 cm above the floor and a maximum of 4 m from the potential source of gas leakage (see fig. 1). The detector cannot be installed near the exit.
PLACES WHERE THE DETECTOR CAN NOT BE INSTALLED

  • In places with strong airflow, near windows, doors, air conditioning, ventilation, ceiling fans, extractors, or other devices designed for air circulation or air exchange.
  • In dusty areas or areas saturated with a greasy air. Such environments can adversely affect the correct function of the detector sensor.
  • In places where the temperature may drop below -10 ° C or exceed +40 ° C.
  • In places where the relative humidity may exceed 95% RH.
  • Do not place the detector directly over a kitchen stove or kitchen sink.
  • In outdoor spaces.
  • In places where the curtains, draperies, furniture, or other obstructions could cover the suction grids of the detection chamber of the device and thus prevent air circulation towards the detector.
  • Near equipment that generates a strong electric or magnetic field.
  • Do not expose the detector to strong shakes, impacts, or direct contact with moisture.

The following substances may affect the reliability of the detector in the short or long term or cause a false alarm:
Commonly used detergents for washing and laundering, polishes, paraffin-based cleaning agents, diluents, solvents, paints, adhesives, gasoline fumes, and some cleaning agents. The detector must be installed as far as possible from these materials or places where they may occur.

INSTALLATION AND OPERATION

  • Slide the mounting bracket on the back of the detector down to release it.
  • After selecting the location for installation, make sure that under the surface, where you want to drill holes for the bracket, there is no electrical wiring or other networks.
  • According to the spacing of the mounting holes on the bracket, mark 2 lines on the wall for drilling mounting holes and drill the holes. Install wall plugs into the drilled holes and screw the bracket to the wall with screws (included). Plug the power cord connector into the power input located at the bottom of the detector. Place the detector into the plastic mounting bracket.
  • After installing the detector, make sure that the suction grids of the detection chamber and buzzer remain completely free and that there are no obstacles that could impede the circulation of air towards the detector.
  • Plug the 12VDC power adapter into a 230V electrical outlet. Then the green “POWER” LED lights up, the red LED “ALARM” starts flashing for 5 seconds a buzzer siren sounds (the device initializes).
    After 5 seconds, the detector automatically switches to operating mode and only the green “POWER” LED lights. This detector initialization will be repeated each time the detector power is turned off and on again.

Before selecting the area and installation location, please make sure that the induced gas is heavier or lighter than the air. see. ” PLACE FOR INSTALLATION OF THE FLAMMABLE GAS DETECTOR ” section.

LED DETECTOR SIGNALING

Green POWER LED
The green “POWER” LED is ON when the detector is under voltage and the device is working properly.
Red ALARM LED
If the detector sensor detects an increased level of flammable gas, the device triggers an audible alarm by means of an 85 dB buzzer accompanied by a flashing red “ALARM” LED. In this case, follow the instructions in the section “WHAT TO DO WHEN AN ALARM SOUNDS!”.
Yellow ERROR LED
The detector sensor has an automatic diagnostic function. If the detector diagnostics detects any discrepancies, a buzzer will sound and the yellow LED will flash.
Signaling of incorrect operation of the device may be caused by:

  • non-compliance with operating conditions recommended by the manufacturer (in the range of temperature -10 ° C to +40 ° C and humidity up to 95% RH);
  • the possible presence of other chemicals in the air, eg. Particles of alcohol, ammoniac, or aerosol.

To exclude that any of the above-stated situations will not cause an error signal to be activated, move the device to another room. If the error signaling stops, it means that the ambient operating conditions are the cause of the activation of the signaling.
If the yellow LED is still flashing, it may mean:

  • a very high concentration of gas that has contaminated and damaged the detector sensor;
  • the end of the five-year service life of the detector sensor (the device has been used for more than five years).

In this case, the device should be replaced with a new one.
** The service life of the detector sensor is 5 years. Five (5) years after installation and the first start, the detector should be replaced with a new one.
TESTING THE GAS ALARM
Test the operability of the detector once a week. A gas cigarette lighter with an extinguished flame can be used to check the sensor, which will release the gas (but no longer than 2-3 s) to the lower edge of the suction grids of the detection chamber at a distance of approximately 10 cm from the detector and then wait for the activation of the detector (up to 15 s): the device triggers an acoustic alarm signaling via 85 dB buzzer accompanied by flashing of the red “ALARM” LED. The alarm automatically shuts off when the gas concentration falls below the threshold activating the detector sensor.
SIGNALING OF GAS LEAK DETECTION
If the detector in the vicinity of the sensor detects a gas leak, it triggers an alarm by means of an acoustic buzzer with a power of 85 dB, accompanied by an optical flashing of the red ALARM LED. Depending on the signaling, the user thus has the opportunity to take appropriate measures to prevent a dangerous situation. The alarm signal automatically shuts off as soon as the concentration of the gas drops below the threshold value activating the detector sensor.
WHAT TO DO WHEN AN ALARM SOUNDS!**
Keep calm. In most cases, triggering a detector alarm is not associated with an immediate danger to life, but the alarm cannot be underestimated!
If the detector triggers an alarm, follow the instructions below and perform the following steps:

  • open windows, and doors (make an air draught) and air the room;
  • extinguish all sources of fire (smoldering cigarettes, candles, etc.) and do not use anything that could cause a gas explosion (switches, telephone, lighters, etc.);
  • close the gas supply and switch off all gas appliances;
  • inform all persons in the danger zone to leave the area and go outside the building;
  • Do not use the phone in a building where a gas leak is suspected.

DO NOT FORGET! Do not switch on the lights or any other electrical devices!
The explosion of a gas-air mixture can be caused by virtually any energy source, such as a spark or a short circuit on electrical contact, a telephone, an appliance, an impact, etc.
Leaking gas may also be sensed before an appropriate gas concentration for an alarm is detected. In this case, the cause of the leak must be eliminated immediately.
If the alarm signal persists and the cause of the leak is not clear or cannot be eliminated, LEAVE THE ROOM IMMEDIATELY and immediately call the emergency service or the emergency number 112.
If the alarm goes off and you find out the reason for the alarm (for example, the gas stove is turned without a flame), the main valve can be opened again after stopping the gas flow and verifying that all appliances are off.
Do not attempt to repair gas appliances yourself!
Installing a flammable gas detector is only the first step that increases safety.
Others include:

  • the correct choice of installation location;
  • performing regular testing of the detector’s sensor operability;
  • regular inspections, examinations, and maintenance of gas distribution systems, appliances, and equipment;
  • acquaintance each household member with the alarm signaling of the detector and the steps that must be followed in the event of an alarm.

** Methane (the main component of natural gas) is an odorless gas. For this reason, natural gas is odorized by other fragrances. These substances can be sensed in the air even before the detector triggers an alarm, depending on the calibration of the sensor and the preset minimum values for announcing an alarm.
OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE**
To ensure a trouble-free operation of the device, observe the following instructions:

  • clean the suction grids once a month with a vacuum cleaner to remove accumulated dust;
  • instruct children not to play with detectors;
  • never use detergents or solvents to clean the detector;
  • do not use paint, aerosols, air fresheners, hair sprays, deodorants, or any other sprays near the detector;
  • Do not paint the device. The paint could block the suction grids of the detection chamber and thus negatively affect the correct function of the detector.

ATTENTION! There is a risk of electrical injury or failure if the device is tampered with. The detector is sealed. Except for an authorized service center, it is not permitted to disassemble or repair the detector. Opening the device automatically leads to a loss of warranty. Due to the loudness of the detector, we recommend that you should cover up the buzzer hole with your fingers while testing the device.
