Recommendations and Warnings

  • Avoid exposing the balance to heat sources, sunlight, and magnetic fields
  • Avoid air drafts and movements at the workstation
  • Place the balance on an even and stable surface
  • Do not place the balance in a hazardous area or weigh explosive or flammable materials

Preparing for Work

  1. Place the device at the workstation and wait until it reaches room temperature
  2. Connect the power supply to the mains
  3. Let the balance stabilize at room temperature for up to 8 hours before switching it on
  4. The balance will switch on automatically when connected to the mains

Weighing Instructions

  1. Place the object to be weighed on the balance
  2. The weight will be displayed on the screen
  3. To remove any tare weight, press the tare button before placing the object on the balance
  4. To turn off the balance, use the top menu or the button underneath the display housing on the left

Operate the device in a room where the temperature ranges between 10 – 40 °C (50 – 104 °F) and where the relative humidity is below 80%.
The temperature change must occur gradually and slowly.
The use of an anti-vibration table is recommended for obtaining stable and repeatable weighing results.

PREPARING FOR WORK

Place the device at the workstation, wait until it reaches room temperature.

Temperature Stabilization

  1. RADWAG-PM.5Y-Precision-Balance-18 Prior to switching the device on, let it reach room temperature (estimated stabilization time: up to 8 hours). RADWAG-PM.5Y-Precision-Balance-19
  2. Connect the power supply cable to the DC socket on the back of the balance or on the back of the terminal. RADWAG-PM.5Y-Precision-Balance-20
  3. Connect the power supply to the mains.

Do not connect the balance and the terminal to the power supply at the same time.

Switching the Balance On

  1. The balance switches on automatically when connected to the mains. If the balance is manually switched off using the top menu, it must be switched on using the button underneath the display housing on the left. RADWAG-PM.5Y-Precision-Balance-22
  2. The balance with automatic levelling starts the program and the levelling process runs automatically RADWAG-PM.5Y-Precision-Balance-23
  3. When auto levelling is complete, the home screen is displayed.

Balance Levelling

  1. Press the level status pictogramRADWAG-PM.5Y-Precision-Balance-24
  2. The control panel of the levelling function is displayed.
    To level the balance, turn its feet; keep turning until the pictogram on the screen is in the central position.
    Press ←to return to the home screen.

Your balance is ready to use!

BASIC OPERATIONS

  4. Wait for the process to be completed.

Zeroing

  2. The balance has been zeroed.

Taring

Working Modes

Press the current mass unit pictogram to display the list of available units.

SETTINGS

Some balance settings are available only for the Administrator.

Administrator Login

  2. Select „Admin” from the menu.

  4. You have logged as the Administrator.

Operator Settings
Prior to operators configuration, log in as the Administrator.

Proximity Sensors Setup
You can assign a function of your choice to each proximity sensor. In addition, you can assign various functions to the same sensor in different working modes. See the exemplary procedure for sensors configuration for the „Weighing” mode.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Guidelines and Precautions

Prior to cleaning it is necessary to disconnect the device from the mains! Remove the plug from the outlet and disconnect all cables.

Note:  Do not use aggressive cleaning agents (e.g. solvents, chlorine preparations, corrosive chemicals, bleach).

Use soft cloth made of either natural or synthetic fibers exclusively. Avoid using stiff or hard fabric, as this may cause scratches on the surface!

Note:   Use neither sharp-structured nor scrubbing-purposed substances.

RADWAG-PM.5Y-Precision-Balance-41Apply the cleanser to the cloth. Re-member not to apply the cleanser directly onto the device!

Note: Make sure that neither dust nor liquid gets inside the weighing system (device inside).

Cleaning Instructions
If it is necessary to disassemble the weighing chamber, follow the instructions in section 11.3.

  • GLASS PANES AND COMPONENTS can be cleaned using window cleaner.
  • WEIGHING PANS AND STAINLESS STEEL OR ALUMINIUM COMPONENTS can be cleaned using a cloth slightly soaked in a solution of water and gentle cleanser (e.g. soap or dishwashing liquid).
  • OPERATION PANEL AND HOUSING can be cleaned using a cloth slightly soaked in a solution of water and gentle cleanser (e.g. soap or dishwashing liquid).
  • Dry sample leftovers can be removed using either a brush or a handheld vacuum cleaner.
  • Clean components can be dried using a soft cloth or a dust-free paper towel. With this, the remaining moisture will be absorbed.
  • Install all the components, providing they are completely dry.
