Operation

  1. On/Off
    • Press down the power button and release to activate the unit.
    • Push down the power button again and release to deactivate the unit.
    Notes:
The unit will always auto-zero when switched on (including any load that happens to be applied at that time).
The display backlight will illuminate as soon as a load is applied, and will remain on until 10 seconds after the load is removed.

  2. Zero/Tare
    • Press and release the “Zero/Tare” button -This will initiate the auto-zero sequence at any time.
    Notes:
This must be done with the weigh sling in place on the scale in order to remove the weight of the sling from the measured weight! indicating the scales are under loaded (weighing minus the weight of the sling).

  3. Lb/Kg
    • Press and release the “Lb/Kg” button – This will instantly change the units of measurement, at any time.
    Notes:
The scales do not auto-zero when changing units, so they will instantly change between Lb’s and Kg’s.

Battery Condition Indication

As the batteries become depleted, the segments within the battery symbol will disappear. When all the segments have gone, the legend “LO BAT” ” will appear above the battery symbol.

Although the unit will continue to work in this condition, its accuracy is not guaranteed, and batteries should be replaced immediately. Alkaline batteries are recommended.

SymbolDO NOT over tighten the battery compartment screws, excessive force will damage the screw threads.

Weighing a Fish

Under no circumstances hold the scales via the body when weighing a fish – Only ever use the ‘hanging eye’! Weighing a fish by holding the body of the scales can cause serious damage to the scales, and accuracy of weight measurement can be impaired.

Weighing a Fish

SymbolWarning

When the display flashes ‘60.000kg’ the scales are overloaded and have reached their maximum capacity. Further weight should not be applied to the scales after this point. Failure to desist in increasing the load on the scales can result in permanent damage to the Digital Scales!

Weighing a Fish

Tip:

To assist and ensure accuracy when weighing a fish, weigh your catch on the Digital Scales in conjunction with a Fox ‘Weighing Handle and Pole’ or a Fox ‘Weigh Bar’.

Calibration

To maintain accuracy, it is recommended that the unit be returned to Fox periodically, for re-calibration. This should be done after approximately two years of use. Please see our website for costs and further details.

Software Versions

In the event of any query, please quote the software revision number of your unit. This can be found by removing and then re-fitting one of the batteries, whilst observing the display. The software revision number is briefly displayed before the unit starts normal operation.
r.g. [R1.00] – Revision 1.00

Drying Out After Use in Heavy Rain

The Digital Scales have been designed to be weatherproof. However, after use in heavy rain, it is important to allow the unit to dry out properly by bringing the unit indoors and removing the protective cover.

SymbolNEVER place batteries in a hot environment (e.g. on a radiator).
