Product Information

The EasyInflate 18V-500 is a cordless air pump manufactured by Robert Bosch Power Tools GmbH. It is designed to inflate tires, balls, air mattresses, and other inflatable items quickly and easily. The pump is powered by an 18V lithium-ion battery and has a
maximum airflow rate of 530 l/min. It comes with a hose, a battery, and a charger.

Product Usage Instructions

Safety Instructions:

• Keep your work area clean and well-lit.
• The power tool’s plug must be properly inserted into an outlet.
• If the power tool must be used in a damp environment, use a residual current device. This device reduces the risk of electric shock.
• Do not allow children or untrained individuals to use the pump.
• Do not touch the pump’s contacts with metal objects, which may cause burns or fire.
• Only qualified personnel should repair the pump using original spare parts to ensure its safety.
• Do not leave the pump unattended while in use.

Assembly and Operation:

1. Insert the charged battery into the battery slot until it clicks into place.
2. Attach the hose to the air inlet or outlet and turn it clockwise until it stops.
3. Press the on/off switch to turn on the pump.
4. The battery charge indicator will show the battery level while in use.

Maintenance and Service:

• Regularly clean the pump with a damp cloth.
• Store the pump in a dry place with a temperature range of 0°C to 35°C.

Safety Instructions

General Power Tool Safety Warnings

WARNING Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/ or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your mainsoperated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

Work area safety

• Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
• Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
• Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

Electrical safety

• Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
• Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded sur-faces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerat-ors. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
• Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of elec-tric shock.
• Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carry-ing, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
• When operating a power tool outdoors, use an exten-sion cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suit-able for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
• If operating a power tool in a damp location is un-avoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protec-ted supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

Personal safety

• Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inatten-tion while operating power tools may result in serious per-sonal injury.
• Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal in-juries.
• Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or en-ergising power tools that have the switch on invites acci-dents.
• Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal in-jury.
• Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
• Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jew-ellery. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
• If devices are provided for the connection of dust ex-traction and collection facilities, ensure these are con-nected and properly used. Use of dust collection can re-duce dust-related hazards.
• Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe in-jury within a fraction of a second.

Power tool use and care

• Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was de-signed.
• Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
• Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or re-move the battery pack, if detachable, from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing ac-cessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
• Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
• Maintain power tools and accessories. Check for mis-alignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
• Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly main-tained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
• Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into ac-count the working conditions and the work to be per-formed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
• Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.

Battery tool use and care

• Recharge only with the charger specified by the manu-facturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.
• Use power tools only with specifically designated bat-tery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire.
• When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
• Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally oc-curs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, addi-tionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the bat-tery may cause irritation or burns.
• Do not use a battery pack or tool that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behaviour resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.
• Do not expose a battery pack or tool to fire or excess-ive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 130°C may cause explosion.
• Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the battery pack or tool outside the temperature range specified in the instructions. Charging improperly or at temperatures outside the specified range may damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.

Service

• Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
• Never service damaged battery packs. Service of bat-tery packs should only be performed by the manufacturer or authorized service providers.

Safety Instructions for Air Pumps

• Do not leave the air pump unsupervised.
• Do not allow children to use the air pump. Do not dir-ect the airflow at people’s or animals’ mouths, ears, eyes or other body parts and do not blow any dust or other particles at people or animals. This can lead to injury.
• Do not open the battery. There is a risk of short-circuit-ing.
• In case of damage and improper use of the battery, va-pours may be emitted. The battery can set alight or ex-plode. Ensure the area is well ventilated and seek medical attention should you experience any adverse effects. The vapours may irritate the respiratory system.
• The battery can be damaged by pointed objects such as nails or screwdrivers or by force applied externally. An internal short circuit may occur, causing the battery to burn, smoke, explode or overheat.
• Only use the battery with products from the manufac-turer. This is the only way in which you can protect the battery against dangerous overload.

Protect the battery against heat, e.g. against continuous intense sunlight, fire, dirt, water and moisture. There is a risk of explosion and short- circuiting.

Product Description and Specifications

Intended Use
The air pump is intended for pumping up large-volume inflat-able items (e.g. air mattresses, dinghies or swim toys). It is not suitable for pumping up items that require high pressure (e.g. bicycle tyres).
The air pump is intended only for household and domestic use.

Noise/Vibration Information

Noise emission values determined according to EN 62841‑1.
Typically, the A-weighted sound pressure level of the power tool is 76 dB(A). Uncertainty K = 3 dB. The noise level when working can exceed the volume stated. Wear hearing pro-tection!
Vibration total values ah (triax vector sum) and uncertainty K determined according to EN 62841‑1: ah < 2.5 m/s², K = 1.5 m/s².
The vibration level and noise emission value given in these instructions have been measured in accordance with a standardised measuring procedure and may be used to com-pare power tools. They may also be used for a preliminary estimation of vibration and noise emissions.
The stated vibration level and noise emission value repres-ent the main applications of the power tool. However, if the power tool is used for other applications, with different ap-plication tools or is poorly maintained, the vibration level and noise emission value may differ. This may significantly increase the vibration and noise emissions over the total working period.
To estimate vibration and noise emissions accurately, the times when the tool is switched off or when it is running but not actually being used should also be taken into account. This may significantly reduce vibration and noise emissions over the total working period.
Implement additional safety measures to protect the oper-ator from the effects of vibration, such as servicing the power tool and application tools, keeping their hands warm, and organising workflows correctly.

Rechargeable battery

Bosch sells some cordless power tools without a re-chargeable battery. You can tell whether a rechargeable bat-tery is included with the power tool by looking at the pack-aging.
Charging the battery

• Use only the chargers listed in the technical data. Only these chargers are matched to the lithium-ion battery of your power tool.

Note: Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries are supplied par-tially charged according to international transport regula-tions. To ensure full rechargeable battery capacity, fully charge the rechargeable battery before using your tool for the first time.

Inserting the Battery
Push the charged battery into the battery holder until it clicks into place.

Removing the Battery
To remove the rechargeable battery, press the battery re-lease button and pull the battery out. Do not use force to do this.

Battery charge indicator
The battery charge indicator indicates the remaining battery capacity or an overload when the air pump is switched on.

The three LEDs in the battery charge indicator flash quickly when the temperature of the rechargeable battery is outside the operating temperature range and/or the overload protec-tion has been triggered.

Recommendations for Optimal Handling of the Battery

• Protect the battery against moisture and water.
• Only store the battery within a temperature range of −20 to 50 °C. Do not leave the battery in your car in the summer, for example.
• A significantly reduced operating time after charging indic-ates that the battery has deteriorated and must be replaced. Follow the instructions on correct disposal.

Mounting and Operation

• You can use the adapter nozzle (8) with or without extension by the hose (4) as needed.
• When inflating items, fit the hose (4) and/or adapter nozzle (8) on the air outlet (3). When deflating items, fit them in the air inlet (2).
• Insert the hose (4) into the air inlet (2) or onto the air outlet (3) and turn it clockwise all the way.
• Select the adapter nozzle (8) appropriate for the valve of the item. Insert the adapter nozzle into the air inlet (2), onto the air outlet (3) or onto the installed hose (4) as needed, and turn it clockwise all the way.
• If present, remove the valve seal on the item to be inflated. To detach the hose (4) or adapter nozzle (8), turn it counter-clockwise and take it off.

Starting Operation

Switching On and Off

• When inflating items, ensure that the air inlet (2) is not con-cealed and no foreign matter is sucked in.
• When extracting the air from items, ensure that the air outlet (3) is not directed at people or animals.
• To switch on the air pump, slide the on/off switch (6) to the On position. The air pump sucks in air via the air inlet (2), and blows it out via the air outlet (3).
• Regularly check the pressure on the item to be inflated or de-flated. Switch the air pump off when the required pressure is reached.
• To switch off the air pump, slide the on/off switch (6) to the Off position.

Maintenance and Service

Maintenance and Cleaning

• Remove the rechargeable battery from the air pump before carrying out any work on the air pump (e.g. maintenance, tool change, etc.) as well as when trans-porting and storing the air pump. There is risk of injury from unintentionally pressing the on/off switch.
• To ensure safe and efficient operation, always keep the air pump and the ventilation slots clean.

Transport
The recommended lithium-ion batteries are subject to legis-lation on the transport of dangerous goods. The user can transport the batteries by road without further require-ments.
When shipping by third parties (e.g.: by air transport or for-warding agency), special requirements on packaging and la-belling must be observed. For preparation of the item being shipped, consulting an expert for hazardous material is re-quired.
Dispatch battery packs only when the housing is undam-aged. Tape or mask off open contacts and pack up the bat-tery in such a manner that it cannot move around in the packaging. Please also observe the possibility of more de-tailed national regulations.

Disposal

Air pumps, battery packs, accessories and packaging should be sorted for environmental-friendly recycling.
Do not dispose of air pumps and batteries/re-chargeable batteries in household waste!

Only for EU countries:
According to the Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment and its transposition into national law, air pumps that are no longer usable, and, according to the Directive 2006/66/EC, defective or drained batteries must be collected separately and disposed of in an environ- mentally correct manner.
If disposed incorrectly, waste electrical and electronic equipment may have harmful effects on the environment and human health, due to the potential presence of hazardous substances.

According to The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013 (SI 2013/3113) (as amended) and the Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009
