Wash your hands thoroughly before handling the various components.

OVERVIEWS

RINSING THE FILTER COMPONENTS

  1. Wash the lower tank, upper tank, joining ring, top cover & tap with warm (NOT HOT) soapy water and a soft sponge. Rinse the tanks, then spray with vinegar and allow to sit for 10 mins (DO NOT MIX VINEGAR & SOAP AS THIS WILL FORM A RESIDUE). Do a final rinse with cold water and allow to air dry completely.
  2. Soak the ceramic dome, carbon cartridge, mineral pad & (optional) mineral balls for 15 mins in fresh, clean water in separate, clean containers (do not use vinegar or soap for this step).
  3. Once soaked, thoroughly rinse the multi-layer carbon filter under running water for at least 5 mins. If the water does not run clear after 5, continue flushing until it does. Allow excess water to drip out before installing (it may fog up & doesn’t need to be completely dry before installing)
  4. Thoroughly rinse the mineral pad & mineral balls (separately) in a sieve under running water, agitating the pad/balls until the water runs clear. Shake off excess moisture and allow to air dry.
  5. Using a clean scourer, gently scrub the ceramic dome to remove any ceramic fines. Rinse well under running water, including the drip funnel at the bottom of the ceramic cartridge and air dry.

INSTALLATION

  1. Attach the tap to the lower tank, using the O-Rings provided. Do not over/under tighten the washers as this will cause a leak.
  2. Place the mineral stone pad in the lower tank. If you purchased mineral balls to go with your system, gently pour them in and arrange evenly around the mineral pad.
  3. Take the multi-layer cartridge and screw into its seating/holder carefully on the joining ring per the diagram (right). Place the assembled joining ring on top of the lower tank.
  4. Secure the ceramic filter to the top tank. The washer must go over the thread on the same side as the dome, sitting inside the top tank. The nut screws on from the outside/bottom of the top tank (diagram right). Do not over-tighten the nut. Sit the top tank on top of the joining ring & bottom tank, ensuring both tanks are level. Then, fill the upper tank with water and put the top cover in place.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  1. NEVER USE HOT WATER. Always discard the first container of water after initial purification. Please note: It can take some time (1-2 weeks) to adjust to the flavor of mineral water, especially when the filters are new. For example, some people in particular can notice an astringent, mineral-like taste (similar to that of still bottled mineral water). If you still notice an unusual taste other than that of mineral astringency after installation, this means that the filters have not been sufficiently rinsed. Repeat the rinsing steps 1-5 above, then reassemble per 6-9 and run another round of water through the system and discard.
  2. Never use anything abrasive on the plastic parts, otherwise you will scratch the plastic. A sponge is best.
  3. The ceramic filter can be cleaned using a scourer if it starts to stain. Care must be taken when cleaning – use gentle circular movements over the surface of the ceramic.
  4. Filter changes are recommended every 6 months for this system.
  5. Never overfill the upper tank. If the lower tank is less than half full, you can completely fill the upper tank. If the amount of water passes half of the lower tank, you must not fill up the upper tank, or leakage may happen through joining ring.
  6. If the unit appears to leak, please check tap for “tightness” and ensure the top tank has not been overfilled.
  7. Do not store the unit near natural sunlight (i.e. keep away from a kitchen window), otherwise algae can start to grow inside the lower tank! (Remember: Carbon removes Chlorine, which is a disinfecting agent). You may wish to dose your tank with Hydrosil (2ml Hydrosil for every 10L of water) every time you refill to help keep your water clear and reduce cleaning maintenance.
  8. The system should be cleaned every few refills to reduce the chance of contamination.

IF YOU HAVE ORDERED REPLACEMENT FILTERS WITH YOUR SYSTEM: We are aware that the replacement mineral pad is slightly larger than the one supplied with the system. As the system is generic, replacement mineral pads supplied by the manufacturer are “one size fits all”. If you are concerned that the mineral pad doesn’t align perfectly, you may bust open the plastic pad, and scatter the mineral stones around the bottom of the system (in a similar manner as the mineral balls as pictured above).
