seitron BE COOL R1 Refrigerant Gas Leak Detector

Product Information

The product is a gas leak detector manufactured by Seitron S.p.A. The detector is designed to detect gases such as CFCs, HCFCs, HFCs, HCs and HFOs. The detector has a semiconductor sensor that has a life of 100 hours, which is equivalent to approximately one year of normal use. The detector has a minimum detectable gas measurement of better than 3 g/year. The measurement indication is shown in levels from 0 to 7. The detector is equipped with an automatic autozero feature, which detects leaks even in contaminated environments.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Turn on the gas leak detector by pressing the power button.
  2. Wait for the detector to warm up before use.
  3. Hold the detector close to the area suspected of having a gas leak.
  4. Observe the display to see if the light is on or off. If the light is on, the instrument is in automatic autozero, and if the light is off, the instrument is in information mode.
  5. The display shows the level of gas detected, which ranges from 0 to 7.
  6. If a gas leak is detected, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for repairing or replacing the affected equipment or area.
  7. After use, turn off the gas leak detector and store it in a safe place.
  8. The sensor has a life of 100 hours and should be replaced after that time or if it becomes damaged.

FUNCTIONALITIES

  • Minimum detectable gas measurement : better than 3 g/year
  • Gases detected : CFCs, HCFCs, HFCs, HCs and HFOs
  • Sensor type : Semiconductor
  • Sensor life : 100h (equivalent to ~1 year under normal use)
  • User-replaceable sensor directly
  • Response time : ≤3 seconds
  • Measurement indication: in levels 0-7
  • Automatic autozero : detects leaks even in contaminated environments

DISPLAY INDICATIONS

  1. Numerical indication of the gas level detected, ranging from 0 to 7.
  2. Buzzer, if the symbol is on the buzzer is on, vice versa if it is off the buzzer is off.
  3. Sensor sensitivity level MAX (S red) MED (S orange) MIN (S green).
  4. If the light is on, the instrument is in automatic autozero; conversely, if the light is off, the instrument is in manual autozero
  5. If the light is on, the instrument is in automatic autozero; conversely, if the light is off, the instrument is in manual autozero
  6. Battery charge status indicator

BATTERY INSERTION

Powered by 3 x 1.5V size AA batteries. Insert the supplied batteries correctly, observing the correct polarity.

MECHANICAL DESCRIPTION

  1. Display
  2. Flexible hose
  3. Sensor
  4. Keyboard
  5. RESET If pressed for 3 seconds it activates/deactivates autozero mode. In case you are operating in manual autozero mode, it instantly performs autozero.
  6. MUTE Turns the audible alarm on/off
  7. SENS Cycles between the three instrument sensitivities (high, medium, low)

GAS DETECTION METHOD

The figure below exemplifies the method of leak detection

  • Bend the flexible end of the instrument; slowly move the probe closer to the suspected leakage point.
  • If the instrument detects a leak it will indicate this by showing a number from 1 to 7 on the display and a sound to signal the presence of gas.
  • Stand back and approach the area of suspected gas leak to confirm that there is indeed a leak at that location.
  • Check the entire system until all leaks have been found and properly reported.
