ACCU-CHEK Solo Pump Holder

Product Information

The Accu-Chek Solo cannula assembly and pump holder is a part of the Accu-Chek Solo micropump system. The cannula assembly includes a cannula casing, sterile cannula, and an introducer needle. It creates a connection between the micropump and the body to channel insulin into the body. The pump holder is used to fix the micropump in place and to fix the cannula to the skin. The product is sterile and can be used for up to 3 days.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Before attaching the infusion assembly, choose a suitable infusion site with enough subcutaneous fat. You can consult your healthcare team for advice if required.
  2. Wash your hands and dry them thoroughly. Disinfect the infusion site on your body according to the instructions given by your healthcare professional.
  3. Remove the protective cover from the cannula casing and attach the cannula assembly to the pump holder by inserting the hooks on the holder into the holes on the casing.
  4. Detach the micropump from the flap on the pump holder and remove its protective cover.
  5. Insert the introducer needle into the infusion site and gently push it in until the cannula casing touches your skin.
  6. Push down on the handle of the cannula casing to release the cannula into your skin. Remove the introducer needle and discard it safely.
  7. Attach the micropump to the pump holder by inserting it into the cannula opening and pressing down until it clicks into place.
  8. Make sure that both the cannula and micropump are securely attached to your body.

Intended Use
The Accu-Chek Solo cannula assembly consists of the cannula casing and the sterile cannula. lt creates a connection between the micropump and the body to channel the insulin into the body.
The Accu-Chek Solo pump holder is a plate that is adhered to the skin to fix the cannula in place. lt also holds the Accu-Chek Solo micropump in place.

Before You Get Started
Read these instructions for use and the instructions in the User’s Manual of the Accu-Chek Solo micropump system. Take particular note of all warnings, information and notes required for the safe and proper use of the micropump system.

This is a sterile, single use product that has been sterilised with ethylene oxide. You can use the infusion assembly for up to 3 days.

Before attaching the infusion assembly, choose a suitable infusion site. Sites with sufficient subcutaneous tissue are the most suitable. If required, ask your healthcare team for advice

Attaching the Infusion Assembly

To attach the infusion assembly, you need an Accu-Chek Solo insertion device, an Accu-Chek Solo cannula assembly & pump holder, wipes, and disinfectant. To replace a component of the micropump system, always use the Replace menu on the diabetes manager. To view an animated video of the handling steps, tap Help on the diabetes manager

  1. Wash your hands and dry them thoroughly. Disinfect the infusion site on your body according to the instructions given by your healthcare professional. Make sure that the infusion site is dry and free from residues.
  2. Attach the hook on the pump holder (D) to the underside of the insertion device. Press the pump holder onto the underside of the insertion device until it locks into place. Check whether the pump holder is correctly locked into place.
  3. Prime the insertion device by rotating the priming handle clockwise in the direction of the arrow, as far as it will go. When the insertion device is fully primed, you will hear a click.
  4. Insert the cannula assembly into the cannula assembly slot. Push the cannula assembly into the slot until you hear it click into place. Use the positioning aid to check whether the cannula assembly is in the correct position.ACCU-CHEK-Solo-Pump-Holder-FIG-1
  5. Remove both parts of the protective film from the adhesive pad (C).
  6. Holding the skin taut, press the insertion device firmly against the selected site on the body.
  7. Press the blue release button to insert the cannula under the skin.
  8. Smooth over the adhesive pad (C) around the infusion assembly so that the infusion assembly is in good contact with the skin.ACCU-CHEK-Solo-Pump-Holder-FIG-2
  9. Press the detach button and detach the insertion device from the infusion assembly. If possible, keep the adhesive pad in position with the other hand.
  10. Press the infusion assembly and the edges of the adhesive pad against the skin so that the adhesive pad is smooth on the skin. Check whether the grey cannula head (F) in the cannula opening (A) is visible and flush with the opening. If this is not the case, repeat steps 1 to 10 using a new pump holder and a new cannula assemblyACCU-CHEK-Solo-Pump-Holder-FIG-3

Check the infusion site regularly. If the infusion site appears inflamed or has become contaminated, immediately replace the infusion assembly and choose another infusion site.

Removing the Infusion Assembly
To loosen the adhesive pad, you may apply warm water or an oily ointment on the adhesive pad.

  1. Press the flap to detach the micropump (B) and remove the pump from the infusion assembly.
  2. Loosen the edges of the adhesive pad (C) and pull the infusion assembly off to the center.ACCU-CHEK-Solo-Pump-Holder-FIG-4

Disposal

WARNING: Risk of infection

  • Used components carry a risk of infection.
  • Dispose of the cannula assembly safely, in such a way that the introducer needle does not cause injury to anyone.
  • Dispose of used products according to local regulations. For more information about correct disposal, contact your local council or authority.
