Product Information

• The product is a Bluetooth-enabled control unit for a road or mountain bike headset.
• The control unit can be paired with up to 2 smartphones and a remote control (optional).
• The control unit has power, music, volume, and intercom controls, as well as a USB port for connecting a headset, charging, and firmware upgrades.
• The intercom range is up to 500m between 2 devices (line-of-sight) and up to 1.5km for a daisy chain of 4 devices (line-of-sight).
• The control unit is compatible with Bluetooth version 3.0 Class 1 and supports profiles such as HFP, AVRC, A2DP, SPP.
• The product has an operating time of up to 10 hours on a full charge and is suitable for all weather use (IP54).
• The control unit weighs 99g, the road bike headset weighs 77g, the mountain bike headset weighs 35g, and the remote control weighs 45g.

Product Usage Instructions

Pairing with Smartphone

Up to 2 smartphones can be paired with the control unit. Follow the steps below to proceed with normal pairing:

1. Power on the control unit by holding the power button until the red and blue lights flash alternately, and “Pairing” is heard.
2. Pair the smartphone with the control unit using Bluetooth settings on the smartphone.

To set a smartphone as a priority, follow the steps below:

1. Power on the control unit by holding the power button until the red and blue lights flash alternately, and “Pairing” is heard.
2. Press the power button once. The LED lights should flash “Red Red Blue Blue” continuously.
3. Pair the smartphone with the control unit using Bluetooth settings on the smartphone.

Pairing with Remote Control (Optional)

If you encounter interference from another remote control, pair again to apply a new security code. Follow the steps below to pair the remote control:

1. Power on the control unit by holding the power button until the red and blue lights flash alternately, and “Pairing” is heard.
2. Pair the remote control with the control unit using the instructions provided with the remote control.

Product Control Overview

The control unit has power, music, volume, and intercom controls, as well as a USB port for connecting a headset, charging, and firmware upgrades. Follow the instructions below to use each control:

• Power Controls: Press and hold the power button until you hear “Power On” and a battery status announcement to power on. Press both power and volume buttons simultaneously to power off.
• Music Controls: Press once to play or pause music. Press twice to skip track forward. Press three times to skip track backward.
• Volume Controls: Press once to increase volume. Press twice to reduce volume.
• Intercom Controls: Activates connection to another Velo.
• USB Port: Use the USB port to connect a headset, charge the control unit, or perform firmware upgrades.

Product Control Unit Care

Handle the control unit with care and keep it clean and dry. Do not expose the control unit to extreme temperatures or moisture. Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the control unit.

Charging for the First Time

Please charge the control unit before using it for the first time. Follow the steps below to charge the control unit:

1. Connect the control unit to a power source using the USB cable.
2. A flashing red light indicates charging in progress. The initial charge should take about 3 hours.
3. When fully charged, the red light will stop flashing and remain lighted.

For any warranty service, please present the product along with the sales receipt at any authorized VERTIX Service Centre or at the store from which you have purchased the product.

Depending on your sport, most of our headsets provide environmental awareness. Stay connected with your fellow users even when there are no mobile networks. Unlike walkie talkies, there is no need to push-to-talk and you can communicate securely without cross-channel interference with the VERTIX system.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Please comply with your local laws when using the product. Safety must always be your top priority. You are advised not to use this product under conditions which may put yourself or others at risk of injury. Stop at a safe location to communicate when required. Adjust the volume to your desired level bearing in mind that long exposure to loud sounds can cause hearing impairments and also reduce your environmental awareness. Users  re advised to test and acquaint themselves with the controls and features. By opening and using the product, you explicitly accept the terms and conditions for its use and should this product be given or loaned to another user, it is your responsibility to inform the user of the above terms and conditions of use which shall also be applicable to him or her.

CONTROL UNIT CARE

When you are not using your control unit for an extended period of time, please charge the battery every 3 months to keep the battery in a charged state. Do not use any solvents or de-greasers to clean the control unit as it may damage the rubber or plastic body. You can clean it with a bristle brush or warm damp sponge and neutral soap if required. Remember to cover the USB charging/headset port before you clean the control unit to avoid irreparable water damage to electronics inside. Such water damage is not covered under warranty.

PAIRING WITH SMARTPHONE

To proceed with Normal pairing:

• Power ON by holding Power button until red and blue lights flash alternately and ‘Pairing’ is heard.
• Activate Bluetooth® on your smartphone and select “VERTIX”
• Enter default code ‘0000’ if prompted.

To set a smartphone as Priority:

• Power ON by holding Power button until red and blue lights flash alternately and ‘Pairing’ is heard.
• Press Power button once.
• LED lights should flash ‘Red Red Blue Blue’ continuously.
• Activate Bluetooth® on your smartphone and select “VERTIX”
• Enter default code ‘0000’ if prompted.

PAIRING WITH REMOTE CONTROL (optional)

Install battery before using. Remote control is already paired with the control unit at the factory.

Should you need to pair it again:

• Power ON. Press both VOL + and VOL – on the Velo and release. The blue LED lights up.
• On the Remote Control, press VOL + button once and then press and HOLD VOL + until the red light on the Velo flashes. This indicates successful pairing.
• Pairing only needs to be done once.

Note: Should you encounter the unlikely event of interference from another remote control, pair again. A new security code will be applied whenever you pair.

PAIRING WITH INTERCOM

Pairing is only required once if you ride with the same person or group. Should you ride adhoc with other users, repeat the simple pairing procedure detailed below.

PAIRING OF CONTROL UNIT 1 & 2

Always pair 2 control units at a time, keep away from other control units which are also pairing to avoid unsuccessful or difficult pairing situations.

• Power ON your control units.
• ALWAYS clear previous pairing data by holding down A and B buttons together until the Red light flashes, & ‘Intercom pairing cleared’ is heard.
• Pairing between control units is always from “A” on one control unit to “B” on the other, for up to 4 control units.
• Press and hold button A (control unit 1), until Red and Blue lights flash alternately. ‘Pairing’ is heard
• Press and hold button B (control unit 2), until Red and Blue lights flash alternately. ‘Pairing’ is heard
• Press button A of control unit 1 once. Only Blue light of control unit 1 flashes & ‘Searching’ is heard. When the Blue light of control unit 2 also flashes, ‘Pairing Successful’ is heard. Both control units revert to flashing red light.

TO ACTIVATE/DEACTIVATE INTERCOM

• Press either button A of control unit 1 OR button B of control unit 2 once , & ‘Intercom Connected ’ is heard. To disconnect, press the same button twice.

IMPORTANT: When pairing the control units, keep them away from other sets nearby which are also pairing. This may result in unsuccessful or wrong pairing.

PAIRING OF CONTROL UNITS 2 & 3

• Press and hold button A (control unit 2), until Red and Blue lights flash alternately. ‘Pairing’ is heard.
• Press and hold button B (control unit 3), until Red and Blue lights flash alternately. ‘Pairing’ is heard.
• Press button A of control unit 2 once. Only Blue light of control unit 2 flashes & ‘Searching’ is heard. When the Blue light of control unit 3 also flashes, ‘Intercom Pairing Successful’ is heard. Both control units revert to flashing Red light.

Repeat steps (a) to (c) if pairing is unsuccessful.

TO ACTIVATE INTERCOM: Press either button A of control unit 2 OR button B of control unit 3 once, & ‘Intercom Connected’ is heard.

PAIRING OF CONTROL UNITS 3 & 4

• Press and hold button A (control unit 3), until Red and Blue lights flash alternately. ‘Pairing’ is heard.
• Press and hold button B (control unit 4), until Red and Blue lights flash alternately. ‘Pairing’ is heard.
• Press button A of control unit 3 once. Only Blue light of control unit 3 flashes & ‘Searching’ is heard. When the Blue light of control unit 4 also flashes , ‘Intercom Pairing Successful’ is heard. Both control units revert to flashing Red light.

Repeat steps (a) to (c) if pairing is unsuccessful.

TO ACTIVATE INTERCOM: Press either button A of control unit 3 OR button B of control unit 4 once, & ‘Intercom Connected’ is heard.

USING THE INTERCOM

INTERCOM INDICATORS

• Single Blue light flash: Connected with 1 other control unit
• Double Blue light flash: Connected with 2 other control units

COMMUNICATING VIA INTERCOM

GROUP INTERCOM

When intercom links have been established between the control units, riders can talk to each other anytime without the need to press any button, as long as they are both within range of up to 500m, and total range of up to 1.5km for 4 riders, between control unit 1 and control unit 4.

Control unit 2 and control unit 3 are connected to two control units, making them the conference bridge between control unit 1 and control unit 4 in the group intercom.

PRIVATE INTERCOM

Private Intercom can be carried out within the teams (Team A or Team B), and between the 2 forming the Conference Bridge.

For example:

• Control unit 2: Press button A to activate connection to control unit 3. Press button B to connect to control unit 1.

Terminating Intercom

For example: To terminate intercom between control unit 2 and control unit 3 : Press button A on control unit 2 twice. You will hear a beep sound, and intercom with control unit 3 is terminated.

GETTING DIRT OUT FROM CONNECTORS

Dirt can get into your connectors when they get unplugged for charging. Issues such as not being able to hear your partner, crackling noises etc may arise. Simply use an air duster or lens duster to give a good blow to clear them out.

I AM UNABLE TO PAIR MY SETS

PERFORMING FACTORY RESET

1. POWER OFF set, press and hold Power and “A” buttons together until you see the Red AND Blue lamp flash twice
2. POWER OFF set normally. RED lamp lights up and goes OFF.

1. Do not squeeze microphone sponge cover when it is wet
2. Gently remove and then squeeze to remove water
3. Gently wipe microphone tip dry, then slide microphone sponge cover back into microphone tip

WARRANTY

TERMS & CONDITIONS OF LIMITED WARRANTY

The control unit comes with a 1-year limited warranty from date of purchase. Accessories which are included have a limited warranty of 90 days. Please retain the sales receipt as proof of purchase when making warranty claims. This limited warranty by Xtreme DSP Global Pte Ltd (the “Company”) warrants the control unit against defects in material and workmanship under normal use. The Company at its sole discretion, will repair, replace or refund the purchase price of the product to the original purchaser during the warranty period provided the control unit has not been damaged or tampered with, and returned in accordance with the terms of this warranty to an authorized VERTIX Service Centre or Agent. This warranty excludes specifically all shipping costs and taxes. Repair will be at the Company’s option and may include the replacement of parts, boards or batteries with functionally equivalent reconditioned or new parts. This limited warranty is solely for the benefit of the original purchaser and is not assignable or transferable to others. This is the complete warranty for your control unit. The Company assumes no obligation or liability for additions or modifications to this warranty unless made in writing and approved by an authorised officer of the Company.

This warranty is void if

• The control unit has been opened or attempted to be opened by non-authorized parties or personnel
• The control unit is damaged as a result of attachment or attempted attachment with accessories not provided or approved for use with the control unit

This warranty does not cover

• Defects or damage from misuse, accident or neglect
• Defects caused by improper operation, maintenance, installation, adjustment or modifications of any kind
• Defects or damage due to exposure to excessive temperatures and adverse weather conditions where riding is not possible, external impacts or exposure to corrosive liquids, vapours or substances
• Cosmetics of the product, accessories and parts which are scratched or damaged after purchase

WARRANTY SERVICE

Your product must be registered online within 14 days from date of purchase: vertixglobal.com. For services, please present the product, together with sales receipt at any authorised VERTIX Service Centre or at the store from which you have purchased the product.

GENERAL PROVISIONS

This warranty is given in lieu of all express or implied warranties, including without limitation, implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. The Company’s obligations under this section are limited to the duration of this limited warranty.

• Certain limited-life components that are subject to normal wear and tear, such as decorate finishes, batteries, fittings or other accessories, are exempt from any warranty
• The Company is not liable for any incidental or consequential damages arising from the use or misuse of any of the Company’s products
• The user should never attempt to perform service, adjustments or repairs of the control unit. Doing so will void all warranties. During the term of warranty, all products must be returned to the point of purchase or authorized VERTIX Service Centre for all necessary work at the purchaser’s cost
• The Company is not responsible for any loss or damage incurred during shipping, All repair work on VERTIX products by parties not explicitly authorized by the Company will void any and all warranties
• Information in this manual is furnished strictly for informational purposes, and is subject to change without notice. The Company assumes no liability or responsibility for any errors or inaccuracies that may appear in this manual. The Company retains the right to amend and change its products, manual and specifications at any time without notice.

WAIVER & GENERAL RELEASE

By using the control unit, you will waiver substantial legal rights including the right to sue. Please read the following carefully before using the control unit. If you do not accept the terms of this agreement, you should immediately return the control unit for a full refund. By using the control unit, you agree to be bound to this agreement and forfeit the right to sue. Using a communication device while riding a bicycle, e-bike, segway, motorcycle, scooter, quad-bike, moped, ATV or any other vehicle, whether on land, water or air (jointly referred to as ‘Vehicle’) requires your complete and undivided attention. The Company, including its Officers, Directors, Affiliates, Parent Company, Representatives, Agents, Contractors, Sponsors, Employees, Suppliers, Distributors and Resellers (jointly referred to as the “Company”) strongly advises you to take all necessary precautions, and remain alert to the traffic, weather and road conditions if you chose to use the control unit, including all derivative products or models irrespective of its commercial name or branding (the “Device”), and stop your Vehicle on the roadside prior to operating the control unit.

Any publications, advertisements, announcements or similar notes that refer to using the control unit while riding a Vehicle are solely intended to address its technical capabilities and should not be misconstrued as encouraging users to operate the control unit while actively involved in operating the Vehicle in traffic, on public or private roads, racing tracks, beaches, mountains, etc. By way of purchasing the control unit and not returning it for a full refund (see below), you are irrevocably releasing, indemnifying from any liability, loss, claim and expense (including attorneys fees) and holding the Company harmless for any bodily injuries, harm or death, as well as losses or damages in goods to any Vehicles including your own or to any property or asset that belong to you or third parties, any of which may result from using the control unit under any circumstances or conditions and irrespective if jurisdiction.

The Company will not be responsible for any physical damages, irrespective of reasons, conditions or circumstances, including malfunction of the control unit, and all risks associated with operating it rest solely and entirely with the user of this control unit, irrespective of whether the Control unit is used by the original purchaser or any third party. Xtreme DSP Global Pte Ltd (the “Company”) hereby notifies you that using this control unit may also be in contravention to local, federal, state of national laws or regulations and that any use of the control unit is entirely at your sole risk and responsibility.

• You, your heirs, legal representatives, successors or assigns, hereby voluntarily and forever release, discharge, indemnity and hold harmless the Company from any and all litigation, claims, debts, demands, actions and liability which may arise, directly or indirectly, from using the control unit for any distress, pain, suffering, discomfort, loss, injury, death, damages to or in respect to any person or property however caused, WHETHER ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OR OTHERWISE, and which may hereafter accrue to you on some future date as a result of said use, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
• You fully understand and assume the risks in using the control unit, including risk of negligent acts or omissions by others.
• You confirm that you are physically capable to use the control unit, and that you have no medical conditions or needs that may infringe upon your abilities to do so in a safe manner. You confirm that you are at least eighteen (18) years of age (or of legal age and are legally permitted to ride the Vehicle in your country of residence, and that you have been advised of the risks associated with the use of the control unit. You further confirm that you will not consume any alcohol or any mind-altering substances that may affect your alertness, and will not carry, use or consume these before or during the use of the control unit This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B Digital Device pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC
• You fully  acknowledge our warnings and understand that :
  • Risks and dangers exist in using the control unit while in traffic, including but not limited to injury or illness, strains, fractures, partial and/or total paralysis, death or other ailments that could cause serious disability
  • These risks and dangers may be caused by the negligence of the manufacturers or its agents or any third party involved in designing or manufacturing the control unit
  • These risks and dangers may arise from foreseeable or unforeseeable causes. You hereby assume all risks and dangers and all responsibility for any losses and/or damages, whether caused in whole or in part by the negligence or other conduct of others, including the Company
  • You confirm that you have read this release of liability and fully understand its terms and that you have given up substantial rights by not returning the control unit for a full refund

Xtreme DSP Global Pte Ltd disclaims all express and implied warranties with regard to the enclosed control unit, including without limitation any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non- infringement. The control unit and its accessories are provided ‘as is’ and ‘as available’ without warranty of any kind beyond those assumed in the enclosed manual.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

In no event shall Xtreme DSP Global Pte Ltd be liable for any special, indirect, punitive, incidental, exemplary or consequential damages, or any damages whatsoever resulting from the use of the control unit, whether based on breach of contract, tort (including negligence), product liability or otherwise, even if advised of the possibility of such damages, You acknowledge and agree that the limitations set forth above are fundamental elements of this agreement and the control unit would not be provided to you absent such limitations, some state statutes might apply regarding limitation of liability.

REFUND OPTION

You can seek a full refund for your purchase by visiting our website for instructions and to download a refund option form which you must include the mandatory requested information contained therein. You can then proceed to your retailer with the product in its original packaging and completed form for the refund. You must not have any missing items and please note that you must do this within 7 days of your purchase and the product must not be used.
