  • Remove the water tank cover (1) located on the back of the machine and take out the tank, taking care not to damage the tubes inside it.
  • Fill the tank with cold water.
  • Put the water tank back into its seat (1), making sure that the tubes have not been bent and that the filter at the end of one of them is firmly in place.
  • Insert the power plug into an electric socket (check its voltage).
  • Insert the filter holder (8) into the retainer ring of the group head (5) by rotating it from left to the right. Leave it there so that it can warm up ready for use.
  • Turn on the machine by pressing the main switch (11). The power on lamp (14) comes on to indicate that the machine is powered.
  • Open the steam / hot water knob (4).
  • Press the steam dispensing switch (12) and the coffee / hot water switch (13).
  • When water starts to come out of the steam / hot water nozzle (6), press the coffee / hot water switch (13) and the steam switch (12) again and close the steam / hot water knob (4).
  • After having carried out these operations, the machine can also be left on.

GRINDING ADJUSTMENT
There is a numbered label (22) on the coffee bean container (17) that acts as an indicator for the degree of grinding: “.7.6.5.4.3.2.1”.

  • Use the mark on the frame of the machine as a reference point and turn the grinding adjustment knob (23); the numbered label will turn accordingly.
  • The higher numbers correspond to a coarser grind and consequently the lower numbers correspond to a finer grind.
  • It is important to set the grinding adjustment correctly in order to obtain a good creamy cup of coffee. It therefore must be adjusted according to the different types of coffee available on the market. We recommend using setting 3.

  • Press the main switch (11). The power indicator light (14) and the steam/coffee ready light (3) will come on (only if the machine is off, otherwise go to the next step).

CLEANING AND CARE
Cleaning and maintenance are essential, both to ensure the quality of the coffee and the durability of the appliance. The machine should be cleaned at least once a week. Before starting, unplug the appliance and wait for it to cool down. Use a soft, preferably microfibre cloth, moistened with plain water. Do not use abrasive detergents and do not immerse the machine in water. The removable parts of the machine can be cleaned under warm running water. Do not wash the filters and filter holder in a dishwasher. It is not necessary to clean the filters after every use, just make sure the holes are not blocked. However, to ensure your machine provides the best performance, you should thoroughly clean the steam / hot water nozzle and filter holder after each use. Clean the filter holder to remove greasy coffee residues that can affect the taste of your espresso. Clean the outside of the steam / hot water nozzle with a damp cloth and dispense a small amount of steam to eliminate any milk residues from the inside as these could obstruct the passage of steam, making it more difficult to froth milk properly.

BACKFLUSHING
It is recommended that you do this at least once a week and / or at least every 100 coffees brewed The following instructions apply to all types of group heads mounted on our espresso machines.

Items required:

  • Blind filter
  • Brush
  • Espresso machine cleaner
CLEANING THE GROUP HEAD

Procedure:

  • Insert the blind filter into the filter holder
  • Place 1 teaspoon (3-5 grams) of detergent powder into the blind filter
  • Insert the filter-holder into the group head
  • Turn on the coffee switch for about 10 seconds
  • Stop dispensing coffee for about 10 seconds
  • Repeat this 5 times without removing the filter holder from the group head
  • Remove the filter holder, turn the coffee dispensing switch on and rinse the filter holder with the hot water that comes out of the group head. Then turn the switch off.
  • Use the brush to clean the bottom of the group head, the group head gasket and the group head retainer ring. Clean with a damp cloth to remove coffee powder residues.
  • Put the filter holder back onto the group head and repeat steps 4-5-6 without the detergent powder to rinse it
  • Then throw away the first coffee that you make

CLEANING THE ACCESSORIES BY IMMERSION. FOLLOW THESE STEPS:

  • Place the filters and the filter holder in a container with the handle of the filter holder facing upwards
  • Pour 3 teaspoons (10 grams) of detergent powder into the container
  • Pour very hot water into the container until the metal bowl of the filter holder is covered
  • Wait at least 15 minutes
  • Remove the parts and rinse them with plenty of warm potable water
  • Then throw away the first coffee that you make

DESCALING THE MACHINE

It is normal for limescale to build-up when the machine is used. The speed of build-up depends on the frequency of use of the appliance and the hardness of the water.  To prevent the formation of limescale, which also deposits in the internal circuits, we recommend that you use and periodically replace a resin water filter to soften the water. When placed in the tank, the filter removes calcium and magnesium salts from the water that would otherwise precipitate out and form limescale deposits, which will affect the taste of your coffee. Remember that the filter loses its effectiveness after a certain number of litres treated. To avoid possible damage to machine components, ONLY INSERT NATURAL DESCALERS INTO THE WATER TANK.
