InstaRobo R1 Robot Vacuum Cleaner

Product Information

The R1 Robot Vacuum Cleaner is a smart vacuum cleaner that can be controlled through a mobile app. It features automatic cleaning, Pin & Go Cleaning, Selected Zones Cleaning, Scheduled Cleaning, and Area Cleaning. It has a water tank capacity of 350ml and comes with a mopping cloth. The vacuum cleaner also has a DND mode that prevents it from automatically resuming cleaning or playing voice prompts during the set time range. The power indicator dims during DND mode.

Precautions

  • Scan the QR code or search for Tuya Smart in the App Store to download the app before networking.
  • Ensure that the Wi-Fi used for network configuration is a 2.4 GHz one.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Download and install the Tuya Smart app from the App Store.
  2. Register an account and log in to the Tuya Smart app.
  3. Tap the plus sign (+) on the Tuya app and then tap the scan button to scan the QR code on the device or in the user manual to add the robot vacuum cleaner.
  4. Select your Wi-Fi, enter the password, and then tap Next.
  5. Tap and hold the Wi-Fi connection button on the cleaning robot for 3 seconds as prompted by the app, and ensure that the Wi-Fi indicator is blinking slowly.
  6. Tap Next, find the password-free hot spot starting with SmartLife-XXXX in the Wi-Fi list, and tap Go to Connect.
  7. After the connection is set up, the Tuya app shows the connection screen. You can control the product after a connection success message is displayed.

Safety Instructions

Before using this product, please carefully read the following safety instructions and follow all the general safety prevention measures. Any operation not conforming to this manual may cause damage to the product. Keep this manual properly.

Precautions

  1. Only authorized technical personnel is allowed to disassemble the product. You are advised not to disassemble the product by yourself.
  2. Only the original power adapter can be used on the product. If you use a non-original power adapter, the product may be damaged.
  3. Do not touch the power cord, socket, charger, or power adapter with wet hands.
  4. Do not get your body or dirt into the rollers of the product.
  5. Do not move the product near cigarette butts, lighters, and other naked flames.
  6. Clean the product after sweeping is completed.
  7. Do not bend the power cord excessively, or place heavy and sharp objects on the machine.
  8. Do not use the product outdoors as it is an indoor home appliance.
  9. Do not sit on the product.
  10. Do not use the product in moist environments such as the bathroom.
  11. Before using the product, remove all fragile items on the ground such as glass products and lamps and items that may entangle the side brushes and suction channels such as power cords, paper, and curtains.
  12. Do not place the product in a place where the product is prone to fall, such as on a table or chair.
  13. Before use, carefully check whether the power adapter is properly connected to the socket. Otherwise, the battery may be damaged.
  14. During using, inform other members in the house to prevent stumbling.
  15. Empty the dust box when it is full before using the product.
  16. The optimal temperature for using the product is 0°C (32°F) to 40°C (104°F).
  17. Do not use the product in high-temperature environments.
  18. Remove the battery from the machine before scrapping it.
  19. Ensure that the product is not powered on when you remove the battery.
  20. Reclaim the abandoned battery.
  21. Do not use the mopping function on the carpet.

Warning

  1. Use only the original rechargeable battery and charging dock provided by the manufacturer. Do not use a battery that is not rechargeable. For more information about the battery specifications, see the Product Specifications sheet.
  2. Do not use the product in environments with open flames or fragile items.
  3. Do not attach your hair, clothes, fingers, and other parts of the human body near the suction channels and running parts of the product.
  4. Do not use the product on wet ground or ground with water.
  5. Do not use the product to absorb any objects such as stones and waste paper that may block the suction channels of the product.
  6. Do not use the product to absorb any flammable materials, such as gasoline and toner used in printers. Do not use the product in areas with fragile items.
  7. Do not use the product to absorb any burning items, such as cigarettes, matches, ashes, and other items that may cause a fire.
  8. Do not place items in suction channels. Do not use the product if the suction channels are blocked. Regularly clean up the dust, lint, and hair in the suction channels to ensure smooth air circulation in the suction channels.
  9. Handle the power cord cautiously to avoid damage. Do not use the power cord to drag or lift the product and its charging dock. Do not use the power cord as a handle. Do not clamp the power cord in the door gap. Do not pull the power cord at sharp edges or corners. Do not operate the product on the power cord, and keep the power cord away from heat sources.
  10. Do not use a damaged charging dock.
  11. Do not burn the product even if it is severely damaged, because the battery built in it may cause an explosion.

Special Notes

  1. Please clean up loose wires and clothing articles from the ground before starting up, and remove easily falling, fragile, valuable, and potentially dangerous items to prevent the robot and the items from being entangled, jammed, dragged or knocked down to cause personal or property damage.
  2. Do not use this device in a wet or damp area, otherwise, it will damage the fan and affect the performance of the robot.

Remove Protection
Please remove the protective strip/film from the robot and the protective film from the charging dock before using.

Wi-Fi Connection

Download APP

****Before networking, scan the QR code below or search for Tuya Smart in the App Store to download the app. Register an account and log in to the Tuya Smart app. Before network configuration, ensure that the Wi-Fi is a 2.4 GHz one.

Associate the Tuya Smart app on your mobile phone with the robot vacuum cleaner according to the following steps.

  1. Tap the plus sign (+) on the Tuya app, and then tap the scan button to scan the QR code on the device (or in the figure below) to add the robot vacuum cleaner.
  2. Select your Wi-Fi, enter the password, and then tap Next.
  3. Tap and hold the Wi-Fi connection button on the cleaning robot for 3s as prompted by the app, and ensure that the Wi-Fi indicator is blinking slowly.
  4. Tap Next, find the password-free hot spot starting with SmartLife-XXXX in the Wi-Fi list, and tap Go to Connect.
  5. After the connection is set up, the Tuya app shows the connection screen. You can control the product after a connection success message is displayed.

Charge

  1. Place the charging dock: Place the charging dock on the flat ground against the wall. Remove objects within 0.5m of the left and right side and 1.5m in the front of the charging dock.
  2. Connect the power supply;
  3. Install the side brushes: Install the side brushes according to the left and right marks (LJR);
  4. Charging: Place the robot on the charging dock to charge (when charging, the indicator light flashes; when charging is complete, the indicator light is always on. The charging time is about 6.5 hours). During the cleaning, the robot can sense that its battery is low, it will automatically start the “Return To Charge” mode and find the charging dock to charge. You can also instruct the robot to start the “Return To Charge” mode by clicking the “Return To Charge” button in the APP.

Precautions for charging

  1. The charging dock can not be used In direct sunlight and near a mirror and other reflective environments.
  2. In order to ensure the normal working time of the robot, please fully charge it before use. The charging time is about 6.5 hours.
  3. Do not charge with the water tank installed to ensure safety and prevent the wet mopping cloth from damaging the floor.

Please tidy up all kinds of wires onthe ground (induding the power cord of the charging dock) before deaning to avoid the robot dragging any cords or dothing during deaining, which may cause elecbical power outages and damage to other items or wires. If the cleaning area is less than 2 square meters, it will be deaned twice by default Resume From Where The Robot Ended: When the battery is too low during the deaning, the robot will automatically return to the charging dock to charge, and automati- cally return where it ended to resume deaning when the battery is full (this function can be turned on or off in the APP).

Pin & Go Cleaning

| When the robot is standing by or paused, you can specify a target point on the map in the APP, and the robot will automatically plan a route to the specified location and clean the surrounding 1.6m * 1.6m square area with itself as the center. After cleaning, the robot will automatically return to the starting position and stop working.| ****

Restricted Area / Virtual Wall

You can set restricted areas/virtual walls in the APP. After the setting is completed, the robot will not enter the restricted areas and the virtual wall isolated areas when cleaning.

| Before using this function, you need to turn on the map saving mode in the robot settings in the APP. This function can only be used to divide the cleaning areas, do not use it to block dangerous areas.

Moving the robot or layout changes in the house environment may cause the map to fail and cause the virtual wall/restricted area to be lost.




Selected Zones Cleaning

You can set the selected zones cleaning in the APP, and the robot will clean the zones selected on the map in the APP. You can also set the cleaning times of the zones in this mode.

| Before using this function, you need to turn on the map saving mode of the robot settings in the APP and complete the first cleaning and map creation; When starting to clean, the robot may go outside of the selected zones. Please clear the floor around the selected zones. The selected areas does not serve as safe isolation.




Scheduled Cleaning

You can set the scheduled cleaning time in the APP, the robot will automatically start cleaning at the scheduled time, and automatically return to the charging dock to charge after the cleaning is completed.

| You can set the area cleaning in the APP, the robot will clean the area you set in the APP. You can also set the cleaning times of the area in this mode.| When starting to dean, the robot may go outside of the selected zones. Please dear, the floor around the selected zones. Special Note:
When the map is not editable, the map cannot be saved and the map management cannot work. It is recommended to save the map and manage the maps after an accurate map has been successfully generated.

Dust Box

  1. Press the dust box button to take out the dust box;
  2. Open the side cover of the dust box;
  3. Dump garbage;
  4. Open the filter cover;
  5. Take out the HEPA filter and the primary filter;
  6. Wash the primary filter (HEPA filter is not recommended to be washed, please pat it gently to remove dust);
  7. Clean the dust box with a piece of cloth, please note that the dust box cannot be washed with water;
  8. Dry the dust box and filter;
  9. Install the primary filter and HEPA filter back into the dust box; close the cover of the dust box and install the dust.

Reminder:

  1. Before installing the filter, please ensure that the HEPA filter and the primary filter are dry;
  2. Do not expose the HEPA filter and primary filter to the sun;
  3. Do not wash the dust box with water.

Water tank and mopping cloth

  1. Take out the water tank;
  2. Remove the mopping cloth;
  3. Empty the water tank;
  4. Wash the mopping cloth;
  5. Dry the Mopping cloth;
  6. Dry the water tank with a towel or naturally.

Rolling brush and side brushes

  1. Open the cover on the rolling brush;
  2. Take out the rolling brush;
  3. Use tools to dean the hair entangled on the brushes;

Charging pins, drop sensors, driving wheel, and omnidirectional wheel

Reminder:
The charging pins, drop sensor and the inside of the bumper all contain sensitive electronic components. Please use a dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use a wet cloth to prevent damage.

FAQs

Abnormal operation
When an error occurs during cleaning, the power indicator will flash in red quickly and an audio reminder will be played. Please refer to the following table to solve them.

The laser sensor is blocked or stuck, please check. Check if the LiDAR sensor

is blocked or stuck. If not, go to clear, please move the host to a new position to start.
The bumper is stuck, please check the robot bumper.| The bumper is stuck, please swipe gently several limes to remove debris between the bumper and the robot. If there is no debris, please move the robot to a new location and start.
The right wheel is suspended, please move the robot to a new position before starting cleaning.| The wheels are suspended, please move to a new position to start.
The cliff sensor is abnormal, please check the ground sensor.| The robot is suspended, please move to a new location to start. Dirty cliff sensors may also cause this fault. Please wipe the cliff sensor.
The side brush is entangled, please clean the side brush.| The side brush may be entangled with obstacles, please disassemble the side brush and clean it.
The driving wheels are entangled, please clean the wheels.| The driving wheels may be entangled with obstacles, please clean it and restart the robot.

Troubleshooting
Questions Answers

Cannot boot

| The battery is low, please charge it on the charging dock before using; The battery temperature is too low or too high, please use it in temperatures ranging between 0°c and 40°C
Cannot charge| The charging dock is not powered on, please confirm whether the indicator light of the charging dock is on, if not, please confirm whether both ends of the charging dock’s power cord are plugged in; Poor contact, please clean the charging pins of the dock and the robot.
Charging is slow| When used in a high-temperature or low-temperature environment, the robot will automatically reduce the charging speed in order to protect the battery; The charging pins may be dirty, please clean the area with a dry cloth.
Cannot return to charge| There are too many obstacles near the charging dock, please place the charging dock in an open area;

The robot is too far away from the charging dock, please try to place the robot near the charging dock.

Abnormal behavior| Turn off the robot and turn it on again.
Abnormal noise during cleaning| ****

The dust box is full or the filter is blocked, please clean the dust box and filter; The rolling brush is entangled, please clean it.

Decreased cleaning ability or dust falling| The rolling brush, side brushes or the driving wheel may be entangled with something, please turn the robot off and clean it;

The omnidirectional wheel is entangled, please take it off with a screwdriver and clean it.

Cannot connect to Wi-Fi| Wi-Fi function is not activated, please reset Wi-Fi and try again; The Wi-Fi signal is not good, please make sure the robot is in a good Wi-Fi signal coverage area;

Wi-Fi connection is abnormal, reset Wi-Fi and download the latest APP then try to connect again;

Wi-Fi suddenly loses connection may due to errors of the router, please contact customer service to help.

Scheduled cleaning does not work| The battery is low, the scheduled cleaning will be started when the remaining power is more than 20%.
Whether the robot has been consuming power on the charging dock| The robot’s power consumption is low when it is on the charging dock, which helps to keep the battery in the best performance.
Do I need to charge it for 16 hours for the first three times| Lithium batteries have no memory effect when used, and there is no need to wait for 16 hours when they are fully charged.
No water or low water output when mopping the floor| Please check whether there is water in the water tank; Please adjust the water volume to a large amount in the APP;

Install the mopping cloth correctly according to the instructions.

Low battery during cleaning and return to charge, but does not resume cleaning| Please make sure that the robot is not in the Do Not Disturb mode, because cleaning will not be resumed in this mode; Please confirm whether the Resume Cleaning switch is on; Manual charging or putting the robot back onto the charging dock will not resume cleaning.
Cannot return to the charging dock after partial cleaning or moved| After partial cleaning or long-distance movement, the robot will regenerate the map. If the charging dock is far away, it may not be able to automatically return to charge. Please put the robot back onto the charging dock to charge.
The robot misses some place when cleaning| The wall sensor or the drop sensor may be dirty, it is recom­ mended to clean the sensors with a soft dry cloth.
