Controls, connectors and display

Main controls:

  1. PRESET – Long press button 1, 2 or 3+ to preset and save your favorite stations. You can save up to 20 DAB presets and 20 FM presets.
  2. INFO – View more information about the station playing. Press again to cycle through further information.
  3. FM/DAB – Press repeatedly to cycle through the sources: DAB, FM.
  4. 9 – Previous: Press to select the previous station or option.
  5. ENTER – Press to confirm selections made.
  6. : – Next: Press to select the next station or option.
  7. MENU – Press to show the menu for the current mode. Press again to show now playing screen.
  8. BACK – Press to return to the previous screen.
  9. / VOLUME – Short press to power On / Long press to power Off. Short press to turn alarm Off. Turn to adjust the volume.

Connectors: USB power input and telescopic antenna.

Getting started

To play DAB or FM radio, all you need is a power source (batteries or USB power).

Quick setup:

  1. Insert four AA batteries (not included) into the battery compartment or connect the USB cable to the input in the side of the Super sound MINI and then plug the cable into an USB powers supply.
  2. Fully extend the rear telescoping antenna.
  3. Press the / VOLUME button to turn the Super sound MINI on.
  4. Press the FM/DAB button to select the desired source.

Turn ON / OFF or set to Standby: Press / VOLUME to power the Super sound MINI On (short press) or Off /Standby (long press).
Note: Unplug the USB power to turn off your Super sound MINI completely.

Preset stations
There are 20 DAB presets and 20 FM presets. To store a station, selected your desired radio station, then press and hold the PRESET button (1, 2 odder 3+) for a seconds until the LCD display shows Preset # stored.

In case of 3+ either press 9 or : button to select your desired station preset number, push ENTER to confirm your selection, the display will show Preset # stored.

Recall stations
To recall a preset station, press the corresponding PRESET button (1, 2 odder 3+).

  • Clean only with a dry cloth.

  • Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning.

  • Place the unit on a solid surface.

  • Do not put it in a closed bookcase or a cabinet that may keep air from flowing through its ventilation openings.

  • Do not install near any heat sources, such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or other appliances that produce heat.

  • Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs and the point where they exit from the product.

Getting started
Supersound MINI is easy to use. To play DAB or FM radio, all you need is a power source (batteries or USB power).

Quick setup
Fully extend the Telescopic antenna to ensure good reception in both DAB and FM Radio modes. It may be necessary to alter the position of the DAB Digital Radio and/or the Telescopic antenna to achieve the best signal.

  3. Press the / VOLUME button to turn the Super sound MINI on.

In case of “3+” either press 9 or : button to select your desired station preset number, push ENTER to confirm your selection, the display will show “Preset # stored”.

Recall stations
To recall a preset station, press PRESET button 1 or 2 once, or in case of 3+ either press 9 or : to select the preset number. Then press ENTER to confirm.
Note: If you choose a preset that hasn’t been allocated a station, then “Empty” will be displayed.

DAB radio mode
DAB radio mode receives DAB/DAB+ digital radio and displays information about the station, stream and track playing.
The menu options are: Full scan, Manual tune, DRC, Prune, System.

Selecting stations
To listen to or change a station, press 9 or : > ENTER to select. Once selected, the station plays and the screen shows information about the station.

Full scan
MENU > Full scan > ENTER to confirm. Full scan starts automatically. Once a scan is completed, the radio returns to play the previously selected station or first station on the station list.

Note: If no radio station found, it shows “No DAB station” or “Service not available”. For a better reception, extend the antenna or do the full scan again in another place.

Manual tune
This can help you when adjusting your antenna or when adding stations that were missed while auto tuning.

MENU > : > Manual tune > ENTER to confirm > 9 or : to select a particular channel/frequency > ENTER to confirm. The display shows a live indication of the received signal strength on the selected frequency.

DRC (Dynamic range compression)
DRC reduces the difference between the loudest and quietest audio being broadcast. Effectively, this makes quiet sounds comparatively louder and loud sounds comparatively quieter. Options: high / low / off MENU > : > DRC > ENTER to confirm > : to select option > ENTER to confirm.
Note: DRC only works if it is enabled by the broadcaster for a specific station.

Prune
You may remove all unavailable stations from the station list.
MENU > : > Prune > ENTER to confirm > : to select “Yes” or “No” > ENTER to confirm.

FM radio mode
FM radio mode receives analogue radio from the FM band and displays RDS (Radio Data System) information about the station.
The menu options are: Scan setting, Audio setting and System.

Selecting stations
To find a station, press and hold 9 or :. The frequency display starts to run as Super sound MINI scans the FM band.

Scan settings
This enables you set FM scans to stop at stations with strong signal or stop at any available station.
Options: Strong stations only / All stations

MENU > Scan setting > ENTER to confirm > : to select “Strong stations only” or “All stations” > ENTER to confirm.

Audio settings

By default, all stereo stations are reproduced in stereo. For weak stations, this may result in poor quality audio. The audio quality can be improved using mono.
Options: Stereo allowed / Forced mono
MENU > Audio setting > ENTER to confirm > : to select “Forced mono” or “Stereo allowed” > ENTER to confirm.

System
The System menu options are: sleep, alarm, equalizer, time, backlight, language, factory reset, Software Upgrade (not in use), SW version.

Sleep
When listening to the radio you can set a period of time before the radio enters “standby” mode.
Note: the radio must be active and not in “standby” mode already.

MENU > : > System > : > Sleep > ENTER to confirm > : > select “15 / 30 / 45 / 60 / 90 minutes or Sleep off” > ENTER to confirm.

Alarm and Snooze
Your radio includes dual alarms.

MENU > : > System > ENTER > : > Alarm > ENTER > select Alarm 1 or Alarm 2

ENTER > configure the following parameters:

  • On time: 00:00 (adjust as necessary)
  • Source: Buzzer, DAB, or FM
  • Preset: Last listened or 1-20
  • Enable: Once, Daily, Weekdays or Weekends
  • Date: 01-01-2023 (adjust as required – this option is usually hidden and only required if “Once” is selected in the Enable field)

ENTER > : > select “On” > ENTER to confirm.
Press ENTER to snooze (5 min) or long press VOLUME to cancel the alarm.
Note: Alarm and Snooze functions are only available with USB power connected.

Equalizer
This feature enables you to choose a sound equalization profile.
MENU > : > System > : > Equalizer > ENTER to confirm > : > select your option > : > Equalizer > ENTER to confirm.

Options: Normal/ Classic/Jazz/Pop/Rock/Speech/My EQ

My EQ options: Tremble/Bass/Loudness

Time
If there is any DAB+ radio signal, the machine will automatically update the time.
MENU > : > System > : > Time > ENTER to confirm.

  • Set Time/Date: set hour / minute / day / month / year > saved
  • Auto update options: Update from Any / Update from DAB / Update from FM / No update
  • Set 12/24 hour: 12hour/24 hours

Backlight
This radio display has a backlight with adjustable brightness level.
MENU > : > System > : > Backlight > ENTER to confirm > : > select “Timeout”, “On level” or “Dim level” > ENTER to confirm > : > select your option > ENTER to confirm.

Options

Timeout: On – During operation, brightness always remains as set in “On level”
After 10 / 20 / 30 / 45 / 60 / 90 / 120 / 180 seconds, brightness will be set according to “Dim level”
On level: High / Medium / Low
Dim level: Low

Language
This feature enables you to change menu language.
MENU > : > System > : > Language > ENTER > select your language > ENTER to confirm.
Factory Reset
This function clears all user defined settings, replacing them with the original default values, so time/date, preferences/settings, station list and preset stations are all lost.

MENU > : > System > : > Factory reset > ENTER > select “Yes” > ENTER to start the factory reset.

SW Version
This is used to display the current software version.
MENU > : > System > : > SW version > ENTER to display current SW version
