FAQ S What’s the Difference Between 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth?
What’s the difference between 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth?
2.4 GHz provides you a range of polling rates that can reach up to 1000 Hz / 1ms. This will provide you gaming-grade performance with no latency using a wireless dongle that connects to your device. Bluetooth has a default polling rate of 125 Hz / 8ms and does not need a dongle to be used as long as the device is Bluetooth 5.0 compatible.
What is high efficiency mode?
High efficiency mode significantly increases battery life to 400+ hours. It turns off all lighting and drops the polling rate to 125 Hz. High efficiency mode and other settings can be accessed via SteelSeries Engine when in 2.4 GHz mode, and is then saved to the mouse even when switching to Bluetooth.
What if I misplace my dongle?
Somehow lost or broke your dongle? You can find a replacement dongle on our accessory page and easily re-pair the new dongle to your mouse. In the meantime, you can always continue using your mouse in Bluetooth mode.
Is there a wire?
No – the Rival 3 Wireless is powered by AAA batteries, and comes with a micro USB wireless dongle that can be directly connected to your device or stored within the mouse during travel. It can also be connected via Bluetooth 5.0 if compatible.
What type of batteries does it use?
The Rival 3 Wireless uses 2 included AAA batteries. You can optionally choose to remove one of the batteries in order to decrease the weight of the mouse with no impact on mouse performance. This gives you the option of maximum battery life using both batteries, or minimum weight using just one.
