Battery Replacement

To replace the batteries, first locate the plastic tab on the top of the headlamp. Gently push the tab up and outward using your thumb to pop the battery cover loose and open it. Remove the old batteries and insert new batteries according to the (+/-) symbols in the battery tubes. For best results, we recommend using brand-new alkaline batteries that are the same voltage and brand. To re-attach the battery cover, press the headlamp housing and battery cover together until it clicks into place. Check that the battery cover is secured by gently tugging on the headlamp straps while holding the main housing firm.

FAQs

How bright of a headlamp do you need?****

100 to 150 lumens should be adequate for most needs, but for activities like scrambling and route-finding at night, travelers may want a more powerful headlamp — something as bright as 300 lumens. If you’re wondering how to waterproof a headlamp is, look at the IPX rating, or Ingress Protection Rating.

How strong should a headlamp be?****

A headlamp with 250 to 500 lumens will likely provide enough illumination to safely hike at a normal pace. These headlamps are typically powered by three AAA batteries or a USB rechargeable battery. A 250 to 500-lumen headlamp would be best for a hiker who plans to hike at night.

What is the proper usage of headlamps?****

Headlights are required 1/2 hour after sunset to 1/2 hour before sunrise, during fog, smoke, or rain, and when visibility is less than 200 feet. In some states, headlights are required anytime the vehicle’s windshield wipers are on in continuous use. This indicates the presence of rain, sleet, and snow.

What batteries do headlamps use?****

The most common batteries for use in headlamps are AAA.

How far can you see with a headlamp?

Do not overdrive your headlights. Your headlights only let you see  about 350 feet  ahead. Be sure you are driving slow enough to stop or turn if needed. Use your low beams when you come within 500 feet (about one block) of an oncoming vehicle.

Do the batteries come with the LED headlamp?****

Yes, the LED headlamp comes with batteries.

How many lumens does the LED headlamp have?****

The LED headlamp has 30 Lumen of darkness-busting power.

Is the LED headlamp waterproof?****

The headlamp is not waterproof but is water-resistant. That means it can handle splashing or spraying of water.

Can the LED headlamp be tilted?****

Yes, the sturdy headlamp body tilts up to 90°, even upward unlike other headlamps.

Can the LED headlamp light remember the last setting that was used?****

No, this LED headlamp does not have this memory function built in.

Will the LED headlamp elastic band fit a small child’s head?****

The LED headlamp elastic band is adjustable and fits any head size, including that of a child, however one must push the toggle switch on top of the light, a few times to reach different levels.
