Tips & Troubleshooting

  • Check all hose connections to make sure they are fully seated.
  • If desired, un-clip hose and aim mist directly at head/neck area for optimal cooling.
  • 2 Nozzles included with kit. Use .015mm nozzle for water conservation on longer outings. Use .020mm for a more liberal mist spray for shorter outings.
  • Position mist nozzle in front of you. Twist the nozzle fitting so that it is pointing into the breeze, ensuring that the mist will be blown back at you rather than away from you. Adjust the nozzle as the breeze changes direction. Aim nozzle up or down as desired.
  • If hiking on level ground, consider aiming the nozzle at a level position directly in front of you. If hiking uphill, aim the nozzle slightly up; if hiking downhill, aim the nozzle slightly down.
  • Make sure all hoses are fully seated otherwise they may leak. Check all connections when first turned on. If leak persists, trim leaking hose and re-seat.
  • Upon first use, system may take a few moments to prime. To speed up the process, open Purge Valve to allow water to flow freely, close valve to allow water to fill hoses and begin misting.
  • Never pull hoses out of Quick-Disconnect fittings without first depressing the gray or white Quick-Disconnect rings to release hose.
  • If PCS loses it’s prime (vapor lock) twist open Purge Valve to allow water to flow freely, then close.
  • After ensuring input line is fully seated, and Pump doesn’t draw water, remove hose from mist nozzle connector, turn Pump to high and draw (like a straw) on released hose to help prime Pump.
  • Store in dry, convenient location for easy access. Charge PCS battery every 6 months if unused.
  • Drain any remaining water from pump & hoses if storing in freezing conditions.

IF MIST NOZZLE CLOGS disconnect nozzle from the fitting, with Nozzle Head facing down on a solid surface, try tapping to clear any mineral crystals from Nozzle Head. If tapping is unsuccessful, unscrew Nozzle Head portion of nozzle (always unscrew with nozzle up right, use caution not to lose small parts inside nozzle body). Gently probe hole in white ceramic disk from inside portion of cap with fine needle. Nozzles can clog from minerals in tap water. If you can’t clear the nozzle, soak per instruction of CLR or similar product to melt mineral crystals from nozzle. If still not spraying, unscrew Filter Section of nozzle, blow through the unscrewed bottom portion to clear Micro Filter. Filter may be removed for thorough cleaning.
NOTE: See “PCS Installation” video for clearing out the nozzles.
WARNING: Constantly monitor your water supply. Do not deplete your drinking supply by misting! Always bring more water than you think you need. Use PCS sparingly on longer hikes, taking care not to deplete drinking water. Store and use above freezing temperatures. FCC ID: 2ATNCEXTREMEM WPCS
