What is an ion?
(ion generation method: High‑voltage discharge)
Ions are the result of negatively charged oxygen molecules making contact with
moisture in the air. Its diameter is smaller than 1/1000 of steam, and it
cannot be seen with the naked eye.
How ion works
Generally, hair has properties that make it easy to become positively charged
with electricity. When ions come into contact with hair, static electricity
build-up is reduced, and the hair becomes silky and easier to style.
How to use the hair styler
- Wipe excess moisture in the hair with a towel.
Untangle hair with a brush or comb with your fingers.
Attach an attachment, and insert the plug into a household outlet.
If you have long or full hair, it may take some time to dry so we recommend drying the hair with a dryer.
-
Turn on the power switch.
• Select either the “2” or “1” mode with the power switch. -
Blow the hair.
-
Turn the power switch OFF, and remove the plug from the household outlet.
• After the hair styler has cooled sufficiently, store in a location with low humidity.
Notes
- Check the hair styler periodically to ensure continued use. (See page 13.)
- If you use the hair styler with a spray product, it may absorb constituents of the spray and suffer a drop in performance. Do not use it together with a spray product.
How to use the attachments
Blow brush
Hair is easier to blow dry when held by the ends and applied tension.
To dry your hair
For straight hair
Hold the brush with your hand and move the hair styler downwards from the
roots to the ends of your hair.
To curl the ends (hair styling)
Hold the brush with your hand while moving the hair styler slightly downward
and rotating it in the direction of the desired curl.
- For inner curls: Rotate the brush toward you.
- For outer curls: Rotate the brush away from you.
► To prevent the tangling of hair
- Curl the hair no more than 1.5 times around the brush to prevent tangling.
In case tangling does occur, use a hair styling product containing oil to untangle your hair.
Roller brush EH-KE46
The roller is thick, which helps prevent hair from tangling when you release
the hair from the brush.
►For large curls
Rotate the brush to curl the hair approximately 1.5 times around the brush.
►For increasing volume
Gently grab the hair at the roots, and rotate the brush to lift the hair up
while applying tension.
Slim roller brush EH-KE46
The roller is thin for easily curling bangs and short hair.
The bristles on the brush are short, which helps to prevent tangling when your
release hair.
►To lift and curl bangs
Gently grab the roots of the bangs with a brush, and curl the hair while
rotating the brush.
► To curl short hair
Gently grab the hair at the ends with the brush and curl the hair
approximately 1.5 times around the brush.
► To prevent the tangling of hair When curling
Take only a small amount of hair and roll it at a right angle (90˚) 1.5 times
around the brush to prevent tangling.
When releasing
Keep the roller as far away as possible from your head and unroll the roller
at the same angle as your hair.
Nozzle EH-KE46
Use for overall drying.
Maintenance of the hair styler
- Make sure to check the air inlet and air outlet at least once every month, performing maintenance as needed. Dust or other foreign debris may build up and block these areas causing a degradation in performance as well as the following issues.
- When the hair styler is blowing hot air, occasionally it may turn off or sparks may be seen. In such cases, dust may have accumulated at the air inlet and/or the air outlet. Also, the air inlet may be being blocked by your hair, hands, etc. (This phenomenon is the result of the hair styler’s thermal switch. It is a protective device. The sparks do not pose a danger in and/or themselves.) Slide the power switch to the “0” position and remove the dust if dust has accumulated, or if the air inlet was blocked by your hair or hand, cool down the hair styler for approximately 5 minutes before using it again.
- Make sure to turn OFF the power switch and disconnect the plug from the household outlet. (Except when performing maintenance on the air outlet)
Maintaining the main body
Clean the housing only with a soft cloth slightly dampened with tap water or
soapy tap water.
Notes
-
Do not use thinner, benzine, alcohol, or other chemicals.
– Doing so may cause malfunction, cracking/discoloration of parts, etc. -
Leaving the hair styler with hair products or makeup still adhered to the handle or body may degrade the plastic, causing discoloration or cracking, and malfunction.
Maintaining the attachments
Remove dust and hair using a commercially available brush, and clean with a
hair styling product.
Notes
- As a precaution, allow the hair styler to cool before removing attachments.
- After cleaning, allow the hair styler to dry sufficiently before use.
Maintaining the air inlet
Clean at least once a month.
-
Remove the filter until it reaches the cord.
• Rotate the filter rib ( a) to the position marked▷ on the main body to remove it. -
Remove dust or hair by using a brush or a vacuum cleaner.
-
Attach the filter securely.
• Align the filter on the main body to the position marked▷ on the main body and rotate until the filter rib is aligned to the position marked on□ the main body to secure.
Maintaining the air outlet
Clean at least once a month.
- Remove the attachment from the main body.
- Clean the air outlet using a brush as shown.
Notes
- As a precaution, do not cover the air inlet with your hand.
- After maintenance is finished, some dust may disperse the first time the hair styler is reused.
Use the hair styler after first checking that dust has stopped dispersing.
Troubleshooting
Problem | Possible cause | Action |
---|
When using the hair styler, it turns off or sparks are seen. (These sparks are
caused by the thermostat switch and the protective device, and this is not
dangerous.) The hot air is abnormally hot. The plug is abnormally hot. You may
notice a characteristic odor when using this hair styler. There is an abnormal
sound or vibration. Air sometimes outputs and sometimes does not output when
moving the main body. There is a burning smell. A portion of the plug or cord
is abnormally hot. The main body or an attachment is partially deformed. The
amount of air is low. Air is not emitted. The interior of the air outlet is
red. The main body is abnormally hot. (turn the power switch OFF and check the
hair styler)| Lint has accumulated on the air inlet or air outlet.
Hair or something is blocking the air inlet.
The connection to the household outlet is loose.
This is caused by the ozone it generates and
is not harmful to the human body. ****|
Remove accumulated lint.
(See page 12.)
Do not block the air inlet.
Use a household outlet that fits securely.
If even one of these problems occurs,
stop using the product and contact
the store where you purchased it.
If the problems still cannot be solved, contact the store where you purchased the unit or a service center authorized by Panasonic for repair.
