Product introduction
The coating thickness gauge is used for measuring the thickness of automobile paint. The gauge transmits the measurement data to the mobile phone APP in time through Bluetooth. The mobile APP can record the paint thickness of different parts of the car and the corresponding shell material and can generate test reports. Test reports can be stored in image format and can be shared via QQ and We Chat.

Operation

Power on/off
Power on:
Short press the button to turn on the gauge. Version number and serial number will be displayed and the gauge enter the last recorded historical data interface.
Power off: Long press the button to shut down the gauge, or the gauge will automatically shut down in 3 minutes without any operation. When Bluetooth is connected, the gauge will automatically shut down in 10 minutes without any operation. -
Device setting
In the off state, long press the button for 3 s to enter the setting interface. After entering the setting interface, if there is no operation for more than 20 s, the instrument will automatically shut down. Short press the button can select the settings; Long press the button for 3 s and less than 5 s to confirm the settings; long press the button for 5 s, the instrument exits the setting and shuts down and the setting is invalid.
Language settings
The instrument is available in Chinese, English, Russian, Turkish.
Setting method: In the main setting interface, short press power button to select “Language” option, long press the button for 3 seconds to confirm the selection, short press the button again to select the desired language, long press the button for 3 seconds to confirm the selection, and return to the main setting interface. Measurement modes selection
There are three measurement modes: Ferrous substrate measurement (Fe), Aluminum substrate measurement (Al), and Auto identification (Fe/Al). Under normal circumstances, it is enough to use Fe/Al auto identification mode. This mode features identification of the ferrous putty and galvanized iron substrate. When the measurement substrate is settled, you can select Fe or Al as the fixed measurement mode.
Setting method: In the main setting interface, select “mode” option by short pressing power button, and long press the button for 3 seconds to
onfirm the selection. Shortly press the button to select the measurement mode. And long press the button for 3s to confirm the selection and back to the main setting interface. Unit setting
The device can be set to the metric or imperial unit, and the factory default is metric.
Setting method: In the main setting interface, shortly press the button to select “Unit”. Long press the button for 3s to confirm and then enter the unit selection interface. Shortly press the button to select your unit and long press the button for 3s to confirm and back to the main setting interface.
Exit
In the main setting interface, short press power button to select “Exit”, long press the button for 3 seconds to confirm and enter the measurement interface -
Zero adjustment
A zero-adjustment is required when using the gauge for the first time, after inserting new batteries, working with different materials or ambient temperature changes. Using iron-base and aluminum – base adjustment plates respectively to carry out zero adjustment. We strictly recommend carrying out the reference check on the uncoated original substrate, due to the difference of magnetic and conductive properties of the material, some measurement deviation will be caused. If this is not possible, please use the zero reference plates supplied with in the case, there are Fe plate and NE plate, please choose correctly according to the measuring materials.
3.1 Measuring the plate or uncoated original substrate, a measured value will be displayed on the gauge, please make sure the probe tip is placed perpendicularly and evenly on the surface.
3.2 Hold the probe still, long press the button for 3s, the gauge will display “zero reference place probe” (as shown in below picture). 3.3 After hearing a buzzer sound, the gauge will display “Lift off probe at least 15 cm” (as shown in below picture), release the button and lift the probe away from the plate (substrate) for at least 15 cm.3.4 The zero adjustment completed when there is the buzzer sound again, and the LCD screen displays 0.0.3.5 After the zero adjustment is completed, place the standard film on the plate (substrate), if the measurement value is stable and deviation from standard value within ±3μm, the gauge can be used normally.
Note: After the zero adjustment completed when repeating measurement on the same spot, the reading may not always be 0μm, since surface roughness, dirt, scratches etc. might cause variances. The operation of the gauge should be correct and proficient; otherwise, it will lead to instability of the measured values. -
Measurement
- Use fingers to hold gauge where there is non-slip groove.
- Press the gauge vertically on the surface of the object to be measured. Keep the gauge steady and do not tilt or shake it. The result will be shown on the screen, and there will be a buzzer.
- To continue measuring, lift the gauge away from the object. Repeat the operation of step 2).
- When the device identifies the ferrous putty, the buzzer alerts for two times. And the interface of the device will prompt: “Ferrous putty”. When the device identifies the galvanized iron, it will turn on the green backlight. The substrate is displayed as “Fez”.
- Check measurement records
In measurement mode, short press the button to check historical data. The gauge stores 9 sets of data.
When more than 9 sets of data are stored, the earliest recorded value is automatically deleted and No.1 is the last test data. Recorded data won’t loss after powering off.
Bluetooth communication
The coating thickness gauge is equipped with built-in Bluetooth communication,
which can be connected to the gauge through the mobile app.
5.1 Mobile APP Installation Requirements and Methods
The mobile APP supports Android OS 6.0 and above. Use the mobile browser scan
the QR code download and install the Coating Thickness Gauge. ask software.
After the installation is complete, the “(Coating thickness gauge)” icon will
appear as shown below.
5.2 How to connect the Bluetooth device
A. Open the APP and display the “Linsang” logo for 3 seconds. If there is no
bound Bluetooth device, then enter the Bluetooth setting interface.
Click “(Start Search)”, prompt “(Searching for device…)” and list the
available
Bluetooth devices that are searched; click the “(Stop Search)” button to stop
searching for Bluetooth devices and the search indicator icon disappears.
Selecting “LS” + gauge serial number will bind the selected gauge (prompt:
each gauge has a unique serial number).
After the connection is successful, it will automatically enter into the main measurement interface and display the information read by the gauge and Bluetooth icon will be displayed at the bottom right of the gauge screen.
B. If the APP has a bound Bluetooth device, the logo interface will appear for 3 seconds then automatically search and connect the bound Bluetooth device. When the connection is successful, it will automatically enter the “(Measurement)” interface and display the information read by the gauge.
5.3 Start measuring
Select the corresponding car position in the APP project bar to measure, the
measurement data will be uploaded to the selection bar and the latest
measurement will be highlighted.
A. Each project bar can preserve the latest 8 sets of measurement data.
B. There are 17 projects totally for different parts of the car. (From top to
bottom: car roof, engine compartment cover, left front fender, left A-pillar,
left front door, left B- pillar, left rear door, left C-pillar, left rear
fender, trunk lid, right rear fender, right C-pillar, right rear door, right
B-pillar, right front door, right A-pillar, right front fender).
C. The specific part name of the car that we test will be displayed at the
upper left corner of each bar.
D. The “(Empty)” button corresponding to each project bar can clear the
measurement data of this bar.
E. Select the “ (Clear All Data)” button in the upper left corner to clear all
measurement data and automatically return to the first bar to prepare for
measurement.
5.4 Report Preview
Click on the “(Preview Report)” button at the top, the user can input
information according to their needs, or choose not to input any information.
Click “(Confirm)” to generate a report preview.
5.5 Report
Click the “(Report)” button and the APP will list all reports on the current
phone.
Click “(Save to Album)” to save the report to the phone album; The prompt will
appear as below when the save is successful.
Click “(Save to Album)Save to Album” to save the report to the mobile phone
album;
Click “(Share)” to share the report with your friends.
Click “(Delete)” to delete the current report.
Click “(Select All)” to delete the report in batches.
5.6 Exiting the APP
Click “(Exit)” in the lower right corner of the interface or click the phone
to return. Pop up the confirmation box, click “(Confirm)” to exit the software
and disconnect the Bluetooth connection. If you do not exit the application,
the phone is always connected to the gauge in the background until the gauge
is turned off automatically without any operation in 10 minutes.
5.7 APP precautions
- APP currently only supports Android, and IOS cannot be used.
- Before using, please turn on the gauge before starting the app.
- To exit the software, click the “(Exit)” button in the bottom menu or click phone to return. If you click on the phone’s menu button, the app will enter the background of the phone.
- If there is a Bluetooth connection error or the data cannot be read, please
try again as follows:
◎ Turn off the gauge and close the APP as in step 3).
◎ When the gauge is turned on, start the APP, enter the APP Bluetooth interface, click “(Start Search)” and select the device which is corresponding to the SN number in the “(Other Available Devices)” column of the search result. If the connection is successful, the Bluetooth icon will appear in the lower right corner of the gauge. - If the interface text is incomplete, please go to “Settings” / “Display and Brightness” / “Font Size” and change the font size to make it smaller.
Precaution
- The device must be zero adjusted respectively with the iron-base and aluminum-base zero adjustment plates. Otherwise, there may be abnormal identifications of the ferrous putty and galvanized iron substrate.
- Do not slide the probe on the surface of the car, which will result in damage to the paint and the gauge.
- Please keep the car paint surface clean, the dust and dirt on the paint surface will affect the measurement accuracy.
- When the gauge displays low battery, the battery needs to be replaced.
