Note: Goldstrike part number 48000 is required for installation of Spar
Trunk Side Lights.

Installation Instructions

Park on a level surface, allow the motorcycle to cool.

Remove the seat by opening the saddlebags, removing the side covers and removing the screws on either side of the seat.

Install Goldstrike part number 48000 (sold separately). Connect both Spar Trunk Side Lights to the wire adapter to familiarize yourself with how they function. Disconnect the lights and begin installation.

Open the trunk. Beginning with one side of the motorcycle, remove the three screws from the side of the trunk.

Remove the three plastic rivets on the bottom of the trunk. To remove plastic rivets, use a pointed tool to push the center pin down to release the pin and lift the rivet out.

Remove the plastic rivet by the trunk hinge.

Gently pry the top corner of the trunk side panel nearest to the trunk hinge slightly away from the trunk. Once the corner is free, slide the entire panel to the rear to free it from the trunk.

Place the trunk side panel on a protected surface to not damage the finish.

Use the supplied hole template to locate the drilling location. The hole templates are labeled left and right, use the template for the corresponding side trunk panel. Align the top edge of the template with the body line of the trunk side panel, fold the template down to match the surface, fold the last part of the template up to match the next surface,. It may be helpful to pre-bend the template before placing it on the trunk side panel.

Mark the center of the hole with a marker and remove the template.

Use a center punch on the mark.

While holding the trunk side panel securely in place, use a “step drill”, to drill a 3/4” hole on the punch mark.

Run the wire of the Spar Trunk Side Light through the hole until the light meets up with the trunk side panel. Do not adhere at this time. Determine where the light sits best on the trunk side panel, following the body line. Place a piece of tape above and below the light for easier locating when adhering the light.

Pull the light away from the trunk side panel and thoroughly clean the trunk side panel with an ammonia based cleaner.

Remove the adhesive backer and adhere the light to the trunk side panel, applying pressure for 60 seconds. Adhesive fully cures within 24 hours. Remove the locating tape.

Feed the Spar Trunk Side Light wire through the gap below the speaker to under the seat.

Reinstall the trunk side panel by reversing the motion used to remove it. Make sure the tabs lock together.

Reinstall the previously removed screws and plastic rivets.

Repeat steps 4-18 on the opposite side of the motorcycle.

Route the wires of the Spar Trunk Side Lights to the Goldstrike 48000 wire harnesses, plug them into the corresponding sides.

Reinstall the seat and side covers.
